Why are people ok with others telling them how to live? Why are people content to let others fight their battles? Why do people think the government knows what is best for them? I'm an engineer from the Midwest and I could run this country 10 times better than anyone else that is in office and you know why? The ability of our government to rob the citizenry of its rights is based on the lack of participation by the voters of this nation. I, am a Bible-thumping advocate of personal and religious freedoms and I don't support the current government definition of tolerance, but the leaders who are elected have been elected by we the people. That means that were more bleeding-heart, non-motivated voters in this country than there were self-motivated, energetic, dream-making, constitution-loving (and many more hyphenated adjectives)hard-working voters when messiah Obama appeared. This has been brought about by the government also. The government continues to build its private base of voters by socially imprisoning the "less fortunate" with "gimme dollars". We who desire who want personal freedom and opportunity will not have the ability to vote our choices in. The largest Super-Pac in this nation is the U.S. Government. With 40% or more of this country on the government payroll in one form or another, you don't have to be a prophet to see how future elections are going to play out. Gee, I guess me and my whole church family fall into the FBI profile for terrorists, since we quote the Scriptures constantly. Seriously, we the people need to get a handle on these "alphabet" departments of OUR government and downsize them or eliminate them as the true threat to our Liberty.

I am 72 years old, still working and a proud member of the Tea Party!! I am a proud American and Christian and hate the turn that our nation is going through!! If that makes me a radical and a criminal, then so be it!! I cannot believe that changes that have gone in effect in the last few years. The MSM does such a sorry job of reporting the facts that I have quit even listening to them.I do not get Fox News, so depend upon the Patriot Post for up-dates. I was born in the late 30's, and my folks still felt the result of the great depression. We were poor, but would not have taken Welfare even if we were starving. We maintained our dignity by using our personal resources to get through hard times.I was working to make money for school clothes by the time I was 12. It gave me a real sense of pride to know that I was helping my folks.We seem to have lost this pride in ourselves and our country. We have generations of people that have never known anything but government hand-outs. They have nothing to show for their lives and nor anything to be proud of. That is a horrible situation! I am not smart enough to know how to fix all our problems, but I do understand that to have self-worth and pride, you have to work to take care of yourself and not depend on the government or your parents to take that responsibility from you.

The FBI Terrorist Alert List looks a lot like the Obama Campaign Enemy List. Wait a minute, it's the same thing! Obama uses the word enemy for those who politically oppose him. He never intended to be a President for the people of the United States Of America, only those who agree with him. We need to understand this mindset and be aware that his cronies are now in charge of all the Federal Agencies, including the FBI, DHS and DOJ. He now has the FBI labeling anyone who disagrees with him politically a potential terrorist. Remember the DHS 9 page Rightwing Extremism Assessment that came out in April of 2009? DO NOT FORGET IT! It labeled the same people and returning veterans from Iraq and Afganistan potential terrorists. The question should be, what action does Obama intend the FBI to take? Government by Executive Order and Agency Directive isn't attractive.

The Bible and the Constitution share a common theme, both start with negatives: thou shalt not. Those of us who want to speak to the need for "thou shalt not" are easily pigeon holed as intolerant. To speak of something as "sin" (thou shalt not) is to be intolerant. To limit what the government can do is intolerant. Why just yesterday I heard Obama mention God when asked about the current Air Force brouhaha. And like the serpent he misspoke when he said, "What God wants is for us to get our economic house in order." (paraphrase). How often I hear people say, "God helps those who help themselves." I have looked everywhere in the Bible to find that statement, it is not in the Bible. In fact what the Bible says is, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Ronald Reagen looked at the Soviet Union and spoke of the "evil empire." If he was still with us he wouldn't have to look across the ocean to see the "evil empire," he would just have to look out his window.

Such governmental overreaching should be used as fodder during the presidential campaign. Freedoms once lost are difficult to regain and the current trend of socialism in America has woeful repercussions. While the list of indicators has slightly expanded during the present administration they are not the first. I figure I've been on a list somewhere since the Clinton administration. Remember his AG's indicators of being an extremist? The ones I remember are a strong belief in the Constitution, frequent quoting of the Founders, a belief that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, a strong belief in the 2nd Amendment, and are homeschoolers. The main thing the current administration did was to add veterans to the list and change us to terrorists instead of extremists. They also added maintaining more than a 7 day supply of food. I'd say it is about time we started talking about a limited government and constitutional authority in America. The federal government had to step in to allow persons of a certain color to attend public facilities when states discriminated based on race. The very opposite is taking place now. The federal government sees only certain individuals who believe the federal government has overstepped it's federal mandate allowed by the U.S. Constitution as the enemy. The very idea that the federal government would single out individuals that believe the Bible to be a good source of instruction for daily living as terrorists that threaten our security is unbelievable. I'd like to know what security they believe is being threatened. In my opinion, it is the federal bureaucrats who believe their authority is threatened. What they believe is it is the federal government's prerogative to target those freedom loving individuls who love our country and have always lived by the laws of our country and have always believed that the rules of law would be applied fairly to all. It is my opinion that the federal government no longer believes they are accountable to the electorate.

The TSA has already pulled me aside for extra screening and questioning twice at Philadelphis Airport and Melbouren, FL. in a 9 month period. Of course I'm a caucasian male in my early 60s' of Irish/Sicilian descent. Funny part is that I'm a first line responder for emergencies in Princeton, NJ. I was one of the responders during he antrax crisis opening envelopes, checking out possible exposures etc. Two of the three times they wanted to frisk me after getting zapped in the whole body imaging detection macine. I am a federal agent. A couple of days ago, I received a copy of the FBI bulletin about the dangers of “sovereign citizens," the alert you reference in this essay. While reading it, I realized that much of verbiage appeared to promote an underlying political agenda, so in disgust, I deleted it. That is how I reacted to the bulletin, and I can assure you a great many of my colleagues did, likewise.

The comment about repatriated POW's being considered threats sounds strikingly simular to what the Russians did with their returned POW's - which were promptly sent to gulags upon returning to their Mother Land after WWII. I am reluctant to post here because the "Feds" are surely going to read it and I will be on their lists; what the hell, I'm already on their list because I ride a motorcycle with a vest that has patches on it. They pulled me over because they could not see my inspection sticker (Ha-Ha). It was right where it is supposed to be, stapled to my current registration in my wallet. Asked and was told wasn't arrested so departed. By the way, patches proclaim me to be a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). So not just Teaparty types get listed.

Once I was the step-mother or a teenaged boy and girl. The girl would taunt the boy endlessly. She would tzunt him to the point of his chasing her to beat the crap out of her. She would then run like heck to her room and slam the door and lock it. The boy tried many times to get the door open and once resorted to taking a case knife and trying to open the bolt of the lock. Still the girl would taunt him. No amount of trying to reason with the girl would stop her from the taunting of her brother. So, when she was at school, I removed the lock on her door. After school she began tha taunting anew....and when he could not control himself any longer, he chased her. she ran to the room and closed the door....but this time the door had no lock. Naturally I didn't let him beat her up but this stopped the daily taunting. This would work with Washington. Take away their secret service and armored vehicles and bullet proof glass. They would think before taunting a citizenry that is mad as heck. They would stand exposed in facing the people they taunt.

Pick whichever law you chose, on ‘thomas.gov’, and read the verbiage. Are the governing parameters specifically stated as well as the penalties for non-compliance/violation? NO! The legislation (law) speaks in generalities and leaves the interpretation or implementation, of the legislation/law, to the Department/Secretary declaration. Effectively the Department/Secretary promulgates regulations thereby implementing the various sections, of the passed legislation (law), and these regulations become the enforceable law, of the land. From whence does this Department/Secretary’s legislative authority originate? These regulations/laws are usurpation, of this Republic’s legislative process, as not one of these Department/Secretaries is elected by vote of the People. In the approaching election and all future elections, it is imperative that we elect Representatives and Senators with ethical standards, who will stand by these principles and cast their vote accordingly. They must be willing, to nullify, this “legislation by regulation” practice and perform their sworn legislative duty. May I draw your attention to a case in point: the legislation commonly referred to as ‘Obamacare.’ Before passage by the House of Representatives, did not the Speaker clearly declare: “we must pass this legislation to find out what is in it?” She blatantly announced to the American citizenry, whether we realized it or not: until this law is passed and the Secretary issues the governing regulations we will not know what is in the law. Our fight is to elect a Congress that will abide by their sworn duty and responsibility to protect and defend the Constitution of these united States!

After several years and observing the methods of the FBI, ATF, the so-called Homeland Security I have lost my faith and trust in these agencies. In October 2011, DHS attempted to make amends by publishing a training guide for "Countering Violent Extremism." In that directive, Section 2 notes, "Training should be sensitive to constitutional values,". What exactly does this mean? It's funny but, I tend to think we need to get far more serious (our Government and us) about tracking guns and other weapons or ingredients for possible weapons. I also think every state in America should make it easy to get a concealed carry permit, where everyone's fingerprints would get taken by the FBI. Furthermore, I think that the vast majority of people in our military and any type of security and/or police department are highly respectable people in many ways. Great Article! I fail to see how referring to or quoting the US Constitution makes a citizen suspect. Last time I heard, the Federal Government derived their enumerated and limited powers from that document. They asked for nothing but to be free to be as successful as possible.We were taught that no one owed us anything, we had to get it on our own. They survived the great depression, and never relied on anyone but their own labor and ingenuity.They became successful business people with very little education, but lots of hard labor and common sense. They raised 6 children and all of us were successful, with most being business people. By the FBI's definition most Christian schools would be considered breeding grounds for terrorism. What an excuse to put a political officer in every Christian school and ban homeschooling altogether, or require audio records of what is taught. I realize many in the ranks of the police are honorable and are constitutionalists and I applaud them. S. citizen within the United States? In spite of the fact John McCain proclaims the NDAA to contain no ambiguous statements (he was/is one of the sponsors) there are many, “suspect” is only one. The point further remains who exactly is it that determines “suspicion” Who among us is so certain it will never be abused by the Executive branch of government (or any branch of government for that matter) that would personally stake our liberties and freedom(s) on it? Wow. A couple of years ago DHS saw me as a threat because I was a veteran, now the FBI sees me as a threat because I believe the law of the land is, ummmm, the law of the land.

I too was a police officer for 26 years, 18 of which as a Detective and a SWAT team member. The biggest threat from this kind of message is that the young police officers, soldiers, etc., receive these briefings as a fact, since the briefings come from the authroity above them. Would be duty bound to arrest and detain the person or persons who gave that order. Will Americans allow such action to stand? Who knows... Despots and wannabe despots like Obama and George Soros, have ALWAYS been relegated to their proper place in history. I honestly believe that evil has never had access to the level of power it enjoys in this POTUS. I wonder how many veterans, military, state and local police, as well as federal agency veterans believe that the OATH is for life.

One of my Bibles is in my backpack, and is less than 6" away from my copy of the Constitution and Declaration.Guess I should watch myself; i guess I'm dangerous because i know my rights as a citizen, and i know how to navigate a Holy Bible. Let me first make it clear that I hold no writing in higher esteem than the US Constitution. I'm not a religious man, therefore I feel no particular attatchment to the bible. I also can see that the federal government has overstepped the bounds of the constitution in ways that make this simple statement seem pathetically inadequate.

That having been said I didn't get far into your article here before I spotted a pretty much flat out lie that you'd iced with some pretty iffy information. The Weather Underground never once attacked the US Capitol, although they did set off a small bomb in a woman's bathroom in the Air Force wing, causing a wee flood. It's totally unacceptable and just grimy that you'd have the nerve to say that the Weathermen bombed with the intention of causing bodily harm or casualty as there it is a well known fact that the group put forth considerate amounts of effort to ensure that just such a thing did NOT happen. The only people to die in a Weather Underground bombing were three of the groups members; they accidentally exploded a bomb they were constructing. The group also issued warnings regarding every bombing some time before the explosion; as a result nobody was ever harmed.

I really can't complain about anybody defending the Constitution but, seriously, don't spread outright lies, especially not about an organization that actually had the balls to look at how our government was being run and say "no, no more" when you lack that same testicular fortitude (unless of course you've just finished up another round of protest bombings....).

A caveat: Weather Underground style bombings staged in today's America by a group of 'constitution defending freedom fighters' would backfire rather badly as the powers that be wasted no time at all pinning the terrorist label on the group. Just wouldn't work.

It is very odd that the FBI would ref things that Sovereign Citizens use (i.e. the Constatation, Supreme Court Rulings, etc...) Now that does not even make sense, how dare we use those things to defend ourselfs, Wow. Why do we have these things if we do not use them? The Supreme Court has ruled several times there is no such thing as a Drivers Lic., so that means we cannot use that in court? Then what is the point of the Supremem Court? The Bill of Rights, The Constatution, etc... I have always been told that it is not only our right to question our goverment but also our duty, you do that now you are labeled a terrost, put on a list, phone, computer email & searches are watched, movements tracked, and you get secondary searches when you fly (i.e. SSSS on your ticket). I am sad to see a country I am willing to fight to protect go to crap by an out of control goverment.

When I read this it makes me sick, sick to see how the goverment has over stepped it's bounds and is walking all over the American people. I called the local FBI office to have them explain to me how using the Constatution, the Sepreme Court Rulings, and Bible, makes someone a terrost. I was told that he did not know that all that comes from Washington but he could have the field agent that watches over the RT group call me, I am still waiting for that call.
