My Navy – the victorious Navy of WWII – has been severely wounded by a bunch of foolish bureaucrats who never have and never will face an enemy in combat. One of my grandsons, like Mark’s son, breaks a tradition of Navy service as he takes that oath as a cadet at West Point. By God’s grace and his parents nurturing, he well fits the positive attributes you describe. He is prepared and ready for that ruinous social engineering garbage forced on the military. Against its negative influence, he will honor his oath, and strive to the best of his ability to be a competent military professional in an Army that’s an integral part of the Armed Forces whose purpose it is to defend this country, and the liberty of its citizens. And, he will do that despite the mismanagement and misuse of the military by misguided civilian leadership.
