I'm sorry, but I don't believe Romney/Ryan will fix any more than Obama/Biden. Both parties have held sway over the last 25 years and nothing is ever done. They have NO reason to fix any of the many problems that currently plague our country. If they ever fix any thing it would decrease their power over the masses. look back and see for yourselves. God Bless the United States of America but don't count on the Republicans or Democrats to fix : Immigration, The debt, The wars, The overreach of the Beaurocracy, The Dismal Education System or any thing else.

I understand your cynicism, but one thing is different this year. In the past, there has always been more road to kick the deficit/debt/entitlement can down. Now the road has become a cul de sac. Ryan has recognized that and his message is that the situation has now become so urgent that it must be dealt with NOW. Once that message is delivered, that urgency will be translated into a mandate for Romney-Ryan to do what they are now telling us is necessary. I really think that, at heart, Ryan is one of US and not one of THEM.

I concur. My problem with the ticket is they refuse and stated to reporters, we will not answer questions about our plan, our budget or other topics. trust until after the election. With Ryan I thought they would be one leader, a man of principle. But saying I am not going to answer questions about the budget, woman's rights, why her voted against equal pay for woman, and gulp, abortion, those aren't leaders, those are wimps. Stand up for your principles or slink away.
The time worn, the liberal media will beat us up, if you are speaking conviction, truth, then the truth shall set you free. Hiding just puts blood in the water, not answering puts blood in the water. it showed lack of inttegerty lack of leadership.
Now on to Obama, I never believed he is of leadership material yet with the Tea party Congress voting down my tax break, I can no longer trust tea part, (taxed Enough Already.) They voted to let my taxes expire. With an approval rating of 10% (Congress,) a dictator in Venz has a higher approval rating.
With my taxes going up for it was voted down, forget grandma being thrown off the bridge, why am I being thrown off the bridge?
People, get on the ball. this is all part of the topic and I concur with don't count on anyone to fix the problem, there is no shock and awe, just hiding and ducking.

I have been donating to several republican candidates. listened to the very impressive plans Ryan laid out this week on the Mark Levin show. They must now wrap around this plan a "catchy" name like Cain did with 999. Both candidates must articulate the plan until people are sick of hearing it instead of falling into the area of mud that Obama creates. People must talk it up IE: Have you heard of the "ABC"??? We can still keep Medicare, wow! etc.......

Please avoid catchy phrases and slogans!
The most intractable problem of our electorate is the dependence upon slogans, catchy phrases, snappy retorts and political analysis from one-line, stand-up comedians. Too many of our citizens live on the corner of Madison Avenue and Sesame Street. For decades, they have suffered "edutainment" (education via entertainment). Their brains enter foggy fantasies, eyelids drop and ears hide beneath earphones of favorite tunes whenever a solution requires more than a couple of hours of thought.
The dumbing down of our electorate jeopardizes our liberty and posterity. It is chronic, carcinogenic and threatens to be fatal. A most important issue must be abolishment and recreation of a public education system that demands, promotes and honors scholarship exclusively and above all else. It is past time to stop the insidious evils of confounding illusions of non-values of self-esteem; racial, gender, ethnic quotas and educator’s unions that promote themselves mostly, educator’s lastly, and student’s scholarship never.

Here Here! I agree wholeheartedly but hasten to add that, and to quote my favorite philospher, Pogo, "we has met da enemy and he be us."
We pay for cable TV, watch the movies, buy the tapes and DVD's. We are in effect paying for our own destruction. I pay the refuse collector to haul away garbage, but I pay the cable company to deliver it, and then I either consume it or subsidize the deviants who produce it. Where is the outcry among us to kill the beast by starving it? When revenues drop, advertisers quit, theaters go empty then the greed of Hollywood will overcome their degenerate instincts. The almighty dollar not only talks in media elites, it sings.

We have reached that point and you know the "free loaders" will vote so we had better get out the great number of voters who love our country as it has been - not where it is now headed.

"Legitimate Rape" is indeed an an appropriate polemic. The claim of "rape" is often used to justify (either morally or legally) abortion. Akin considers an embryo to be a person, irrespective of the mode of conception. He is entitled to hold that conviction. It is up to the voters of Missouri to decide if his his conviction are congruent with their own. I suspect that, in the net, they will conclude that Akin's world views are more acceptable than those of his opponent.

Carl is right. He may remember, as I do, how Paul Wellstone, who until Mr. Obama went to Washington was one of the most socialist politicians ever to stalk Capitol Hill, won election by less than half a percentage point. The Constitution Party candidate got just over 1%. Had the Constitution Party thrown its support behind Rudy Boschwitz, several close votes in the Senate might have gone the other way.
This is a nightmare scenario - enough conservative votes go to somebody other than Romney-Ryan to put the election within reach of Mr. Obama's vote fraud shenanigans. (There's a reason they oppose Photo ID, and it isn't concern for the voters who supposedly can't get their free Photo ID.) Mr. Obama then goes back into office and claims he has a mandate to complete the transformation of the United States into the North American Socialist Administrative Region. The Constitution will be removed from the National Archives and recycled to make "green" toilet paper, in practice, if not in actuality.
We can't take the chance. Nor can we expect that a President Romney will be able to fix our problems by himself, even granted that he wants to. Even Ron Paul cannot take on the Administrative State without the firm support of Congress; the bureaucrats would sabotage him at every turn, and tie him up in the courts if he tried to do anything about it. A President intent on restoring the Rule of Law will need a conservative House and a conservative Senate, with a firm, brave leadership. They will face skunk spray from the leftist propaganda machine 24/7, so this will not be a task for those of weak character.

Dagny and J. Steffler,
Until we abolish political parties altogether we will continue to have our bipolar system. Why? Because it's expedient and there's not enough political interest and moxey to support numerous parties. And there are probably other reasons that I haven't thought of (please, anyone, have a whack at it). But you both can feel a little better when I say that you're correct, that the Republican Party has gone off the rails a bit, over the past few decades - but they don't compare to the Democrats, not at all.
So the take home message is that if you're unhappy with the Republican Party, then work to change it from the inside. That's exactly what the Tea Party influence is for, to route out the corruption and cronyism in the Republican Party and to bring it back to its roots of liberty, fiscal accountability and limited government. For us to redeem ourselves as a society, politicians need to separate their duties as public servants from their own personal, individual ambitions, and from the goals of their respective party affiliations.
The Democrat party is a lost cause. Their immorality and corruption emulates the soul of Joseph Stalin.
But with the current bipolar system we have, Mr. Paul and the Libertarians will never get the support they need to win. Sorry to burst your bubble. The numbers are just not there. We need to reform the Republican party but we're never going to do that if people withhold their vote for Republicans, effectively keeping Democrats in office. With Democrats in office, we'll never, ever, come clean as a society. The stench will be too great.

The "need" for the Republican candidate to "pivot toward the center" was premised on the notion that all he would do was deliver a "political"message with specific issues and positions on those issues each designed to appeal to some portion of the electorate. The selection of Ryan as a running mate has mooted all that. The debate that will now occur over Medicare, Obamacare, entitlements, the deficit and the national debt will be one on our national identity. Obama was right about one thing: the campaign is about two different visions for America. The Romney-Ryan team will articulate those visions in a way that I believe will be Reaganesque and lead the vast majority of Americans to adopt their, and our, vision of what America is and can be.

Going forward, the Rommey Ryan message should project the drastic explosion of jobs and economic development that will result in a successful election. Point out how America will become the largest exporter of oil and natural gas in the world. Point out how the American worker now waiting in call back lines for months and years only to be given temp jobs to keep their benifits i.e. union workers will now be called back to work to unleash the power of the greatest American recovery in history. OR allow the promisses of the current administration to play out and see what happens. THAT IS THE CHOICE>

Whoa, opening with a quote that recommends considering a man's character rather than his religious beliefs. What a refreshing departure from the bigoted nonsense you usually espouse; namely that our leaders should be men "of faith", or that those without "faith" should not be considered for office because, clearly, they are evil and of questionable character. Are you sure god approves of this?

The Patriot Post often reaffirms the TRUTH – that this country was founded on Christian principals and “men of faith.” A main reason it does this is to dispute the lies from the “progressive left” and their attempt to re-write American history.
Please post a quote of “bigoted nonsense” from the PP saying “a man /woman without faith should not run for public office…”

Mark - PP has on several occasions recommended that, among other characteristics, our leaders should be men of faith. Of course, they are entitled to that opinion, as I am entitled to mine. My opinion is that that recommendation is bigoted. The fact is that one does not need to believe in the supernatural to have the intelligence, experience, and character to be a good leader. Additionally, the Constitution prohibits the requiring of any religious test in order to hold public office. The quote PP chose in this case is a wise one in that it is a person's character that is most important, not their religious beliefs.

No there is not, what irritates me is when someone calls the other person names instead of exchanging thoughts and ideas. I don't care what you think and do that is your Liberty just don't interfere with my Liberty and if you wish to join a discussion keep it to the point being made. Don't make character attacks on someone you may not have even met all it does is concede the argument and verify that you yourself are what you accused the other of being.

I may not concur with everything that is said yet some people honestly believe this isn't freewill, it is there views only and no one else dare speak up. the founding fathers wrote in free speech and a free exchange of ideas. Have we've forgotten that or do we wave the flag to much to notice what we're saying or doing?

Palin's absence as a speaker is bad omen.
Any failure to fully embrace the Tea Party" segment of the electorate is a) a signal that conservatives are "in the pocket" and b) the party must prostitute itself to the "middle" to win.
The Republican Party may, indeed, win the election, but the country will not be saved from disaster.

Just as Alexander stated, I have thought election cycle after cycle, we need our spokesmen to carry the message of liberty and economic freedom in the respectable and convincing manner that Ronald Reagan did. Little did the 'Crats nor media of the day realize Reagan had developed his principles over many years of writing and speaking, nor how well-thought out his message applied the principles of our founding fathers. I can only pray that Mit and his excellent choice for VP can articulate said values and not get sidetracked by the garbagemen of the opposition. Maybe they both need to practice Ron's immortal phrase to preceed turning the conversation around to what they need to tell the American people, "There you go again,..." I also pray there are enough patriots remaining, enough of us not enslaved by the dole, to throw off the socialist chains of today and support them and a new congress worthy of election who will get us back on track as that shining city on the hill, showing the rest of the world what God-given individual rights combined with individual initiative can produce. I have a feeling this will be our last chance to do it at the ballot box, leaving only the other alternative if we fail this year.

Mathematically speaking, voting for Romney-Ryan won’t make a hill of beans’ difference. Let’s just look at our colossal DEBT (ignoring the DEFICIT, which is another whole can of worms).
Our current DEBT, just what we owe on our normal budget, is $15.3 trillion, increasing at a faster and faster pace. The debt compounds, and for many decades we’ve effectively been using credit cards to pay the mortgage. $15.3T sounds like a lot, but that’s not all. Add to that the $15T SocSec, $20T Medicare Rx drug benefit, and $115T M’care shortfalls, and we have a total of $165 TRILLION in debt, more than $1 million/taxpayer. That assumes all 112 million taxpayers are paying, but of course since the tax code is used primarily to buy votes, only about 50 million people pay any significant taxes.
For the budget, we borrow money on which we pay interest. We spend $2.4T/year (over $76,000 a SECOND!) on transfer payments and interest on debt. This doesn’t include any gov’t functions such as roads, P.O., military, DHS – anything – which on fed, state & local levels is over $7T/yr. Plus our economy pays over $3.7T/yr on all public & private debts, for a total of over $10T. But our GDP is only $15T. So two-thirds of our economy pays for government and debt… unprecedented in world history!
Where will the money come from to cover this? Americans are about $16T in credit card, student loan and other debt…even more than the government (remember, they’re $15.3T in the hole).
Will they cut spending? Half the country pays no income taxes, and half is on government assistance (40 million alone on food stamps!). That’s way too many votes for politicians to lose by cutting into any of that pie, and too many torches & pitchforks to face if they do.
Both parties have been responsible for all of this – even the party of R&R. Ryan himself voted for the Bush Medicare Rx drug benefit expansion, the Dept of Ed expansion, TARP and other unconstitutional spend-a-thons. The Demicans & Republicrats are two wings of the same bird of prey. Even if you want to make the case that R&R will somehow buck their own party, or all of the corporate interests that they’d owe, the rest of Congress will surely never go for it.
I love my country, but until the power to which men are forever drawn is brought to 1783 levels, we must collapse under our own weight, as the USSR did in 1989. Then perhaps we’ll rediscover liberty and return to peace & prosperity.

John's are not the only intelligent comments in this blog. You're being uselessly insulting. Many others have expressed good thoughts. I first presented a numerical debt analysis similar to John's, back sometime after Obama's first year when he had established his track record of incompetence, and when, by the numbers, I could see where we were heading. Please read on, and keep an open mind.

I'm told that Romney is a very warm, personable, and compassionate person, but he doesn't come across that way in his public appearances. Possibly that's because of his New England reserve. Romney needs to show his personal side, and the Convention might be a good opportunity to begin doing that.
Right now, I think the public believes Romney is competent. Now, he needs to help them to like him personally and to believe he is on their side.

The Romney/Ryan ticket is, at best, the lesser of 2 evils. The lesser of 2 evils is still evil and I no longer vote on that basis. Voters somehow accept the illusion that there's a substantive difference between the 2 major parties because that's what they're told by mainstream media. In reality both major parties exist to protect the status quo of the big spending central government that increases control and inhibits freedom more with each election.

My goal at this point is to survive whatever the winner brings down upon us. I believe that, if elected, Romney will usher in a few years of pseudo-prosperity while the environment finishes going to hell, the currency collapses and the emboldened Christian Jihadists 'lovingly' herd women back into the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, in the name of "religious freedom". If Obama wins, the emboldened Muslim Jihadists will declare open war in our streets, and try to 'lovingly' herd women back into the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, in the name of THEIR brand of " religious freedom". Either way, a win for either candidate is going to be a terrific loss for our nation and the world, in my opinion. But maybe, being a woman, I shouldn't have opinions? Perhaps we should leave the thinking up to the fetuses.... and the conservative Republicans who don't want to pay for birth control, but don't mind shelling out billions for the incarceration and care of unwanted progeny brought into this world by women and men who should have never have been allowed to NOT have birth control!

What if everyone who can't stomach either ill party or their shills, goes to the polls this time and nominates themselves? Or writes in Donald Duck? True, but we have reached the point at which the environment simply cannot afford any more "compromise" - and women cannot be "compromised" back into servitude. Romey and Ryan are both climate ostriches and scientifically illiterate. They are woefully unprepared to tackle very real environmental problems that threaten the future of human life on this, our only home planet. They also have little grasp of history. If you realize that America would have lost WWII without one woman - Jackie Cochran - and her approximately 1700 brave WASPS who accomplished what most men and women said couldn't - and shouldn't - be done by women during the war, you begin to understand that keeping women from our full potential is a direct threat to America's survival. The point is that a belief that EITHER candidate will "save" this once-great nation, is an illusion, although I believe that illusion will take longer to dissipate if Romney is elected.

Reagans statement, “We face a disintegrating economy, a weakened defense and an energy policy based on the sharing of scarcity.”, is of interest because the Republicans have achieved only one objective, that of strengthening defense. Nothing like a couple of wars to do that. The economy and certainly the energy policy are on their heads. While it is true the democratic senate and white house have had zero effect of resolving either of the two, neither have the republicans. Americans are tired of do-nothing, in your face, I’m right you’re wrong members of congress. “Hope and change” got us nowhere, how can a new demagoguery change the outcome? Here is a true story that attests to the lack of character of our president. He additionally didn't stop at or recognize the 9/11 memorial nearby. Obama came to CT on Aug. 6 (I think). The chopper landed at Sherwood Island park on a very nice day. They closed the park ALL DAY so the chopper could land and Obama was whisked off to a fundraiser in Stamford and then the biggy ($35000 each) at Harvey Weinstein's house. Westport gave the Obama campaign a bill for $14,000 (approx.) for police and fire. The Obama campaign said they would not pay the bill. The problem is that the constitution our elected officials take an oath to uphold has been corrupted by amendments 13 through 27. Amendment 17 -21 took away states rights to protect the people . These amendments destroy checks and balances between the state and the Federal Government. The states are required to protect the people, instead they are beholden to the Fed Gov. or get sued! Amendment 14 doesn't apply to everyone like the federal government wants to pretend it does. The rest of us are sovereign people. We are above the constitution and those rights that are not designated to the Fed or state are ours. Amendment 22-27 need to be repealed. We have the right to be left alone. These amendments give the federal government power to set up agency after agency with power beyond any regular forms of government and these agency authorities are not elected offices so there is no way to vote them out when they get abusive. There are 2600 agencies now trying to tell us all what we can and cannot do. It is ludicrous. Amendment 13 and 16 need to be repealed. Thirteen sidesteps the states and peoples rights. Sixteen does not and never has given the Federal Government or the IRS the right to tax individual income unless it is earned by a government employee or through a direct government contract. The illegal taxing of our incomes needs to be shut down. Amendment 25 is especially dangerous since it sets up a perfect Coup d e tat like the one that almost happened when Nixon was impeached, and Ford was appointed and he chose Nielson Rockafeller to serve as V.P. We were one heart attack or fatal gunshot away from having a president that was never elected! We need people in there who correct these terrible mistakes and restore the original Magna Carta, Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, including the preamble of the Bill of Rights in force with amendments 11 and 12.

Absolutely right cindy. Amendment 14 has been totally misunderstood, most of the time on purpose, and the real meaning has to be defined by the Senate. Of course this will never happen with the crew we have now. Congress and others kept trying and trying to establish an income tax, and when it came to be, the children in the Congress and the one in the White House, Wilson, could not have been happier, all this money pouring in, stolen from peoples pockets, to play games with, and they've been happy ever since. Tax on income is not constitutional and should be discontinued along with the IRS, perhaps soon to be Obama's version of the "brown shirt" thugs.

Regardless of our opinions of Romney, Ryan, Republican strategies in general, or Congress the future of our beloved Republic is at stake and requires that we put aside differences that, while worthy of note, are of considerably less importance than the future nation we leave posterity. While the executive branch is the primary target of so many elections, a previous commenter has struck the bell of liberty a true blow with his comments regarding the changes required in Congress. I would argue that an executive willing to use the veto pen might, at least partially, hold Congress in check while we work to put in place the changes required in that once august body that is now little more than a laughing stock. However, the item that concerns me more than any other through this election season is the state of the American electorate. It seems to me that our voting public has been led into the mists of ignorance and confusion by much, if not all, of what passes for a public education system from elementary school through graduate schools. It was said by previous Communist leadership that America would fall from within as a result of changes in the education of its people. I fear that 5th column more than any other as it will be the most entrenched and difficult to remove. Yet there is far too much at stake to flinch or waver in our resolve. We must have steel for backbones, truth for speech, the strength of our convictions, and the resolve to engage the enemy wherever we may find them and continue to engage until they are defeated.

Well at least we now have a measure of the moral courage of the Romney/Ryan team.....I peg it at zero.
Throwing Todd Akin under the bus to appease the mongrels in the MSM is flat out wrong. As a Marine we stand by the credo "no man left behind" (and that includes the stupid ones).
To turn on a strong candidate without even an attempt to state the obvious, that the remarks were carelessly uttered but meant to defend the unborn, is the same as abandoning a warrior on the battlefield. Let other conservatives and Romney supporters beware: Romney will abandon you in a heartbeat when it serves his purposes or to distance himself from controversy. I expected better from Ryan, silly me. Politicians are whores, opportunists, and scalliwags, one and all.

Thank you for standing up and saying what needed to be said. Akin made some unfortunate remarks, but his message was honorable: to protect the life of the most innocent among us. Could Akin have said it better, definitely; but I agree with you by distancing themselves the Romney/Ryan ticket has made a mistake.

It is hard to followa Patriot like Mark Alexander. However, I met Ronald Reagan in 1942, a charmer he was and a real gentleman. I was in Washington in November 1980 when he womn the election. I knew we were in good hands. If Romey-Ryan can, betwen them muster up the American spirit, we can defeat the Democrats socialistic/Facist form of democracy they use to attempt to overthrow the Republic forged for us by our Christian forefathers. .No gimmicks, no politics, an oath to follow closely our constitution will suffice. Mr. romney and Mr. Ryan will do well to listen to Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palain, Penny Nance, Frances Rice and the advice of Abigail Adams in 1787. the Fathers did NOT and look what happened.!!!

“A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do.” “A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do." "And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation’s citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do.”
“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind.” “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”
Lyle H Rossiter Jr. - JR, MD – eminent psychiatrist
Something many of us understand about human nature and latent pathology, but most in academia and practice would never state for fear of reprisals from the liberal establishment hell bent on ruining anyone who disagrees or criticizes their beliefs. But so true. We are taught in psychology to teach independence, self-sufficiency, and personal responsibility and freedom to help people overcome their personal difficulties and dependencies, but this doesn't bode well for those on left who rely on the dependent.

Here Here, as usual your comments are dead on. I only wish there was a magic wand I could wave that would put them in front of every U.S. citizen. The only salvation for this country is to return to those things that have historically brought us prosperity, strong morals and a strong constitution. As it stands we are destroying both at an alarming rate. We have allowed our youth to be educated not by their parents but by our government who is corrupt at every turn. I stated to a friend some twenty odd years ago that this country was headed for a revolution, either civil or violent, and storm clouds are looming. I fear the future for my grandchildren is gray at best. Please keep up the arduous task of trying to educate our nation of citizens for I feel you are our last line of defense.

It is now time for every citizen to pay attention, take off the rose colored glasses, turn off all electronics, stop believing the news media. It's time to take interest, focus, and get to work holding All elected officials to task and accountablity.
Enough is enough: we demand substance not sound bites from a telepromter! Start with a serious review and re-instate the Glass-Stegall Act of 1933, limit terms and benefits of elected officials. NO MORE pork attached to bills, cut the fat, focus on what is required to run an efficient, safe, government, improve education, and let the private sector get back to production. The government IS NOT very good at budgeting.
Clean out the dead wood in legislation, no matter what party. NO more automtic pay raises for legisltors, raises go on the ballet. These legislators SHOULD be treated the same as each of us are in the work place, performance reviews then maybe a raise if the taxpayers agree it's within the budget, and if not sping your job "YOU'RE FIRED?" What's good for one is good for all, afterall they are our employees not bosses!
Watch and listen to what this man says.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EW5IdwltaAc&feature=youtubegdataplayer
We can do it if WE THE PEOPLE pull together. Really get serious or we will be inside the rabbit hole with Greece. Let our whispers become a deafening ROAR.
All that I have written also applies to the news media ... NO more telling us how to think, just report the news and facts so we can decide what is right, we're not stupid after all! I refuse to follow the Pied Piper like the blind mice, I'm not going over the cliff following the Judas Goat, going to slaughter.
WAKE UP EVERYONE, please... Time to go back to what our founding fathers based this Republic upon! Get on your knees in humility and pray for forgiveness, help and strength to get this done through HIM, in GOD we trust!

Instead of borrowing their copies, why don't you just send him one yourself? Along with a good heart-felt message of hope and ideas like you give us each week? For that matter, it might have been a good idea to automatically send one to each Republican Candidate for the race. Again, with your complements and a personal note of your hopes for the future. Ronald Reagan campaigned for Goldwater in 1964. I think he learned something – and Romney/Ryan can learn from Goldwater, too.
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is needed before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' interests, I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty." . . . Barry Goldwater

Post Reagan the establishment Republicans ensconced party control . Their bi-partisan folly enabled the Democrats to regain power and elect a narcissist maniac as president . The 2010 election confirmed the true conservative trend of the country via the Tea Party movement. The establishment Republicans overwhelmed the Tea Party conservatives in the primaties via Romney. Romney and Ryan need to become their own team, fire the establishment advisers, embract all the Tea Party candidates to build an overwhelming momentum to take back control with a blow out victory.

Reagan's words were inspirational then and they are now. You are absolutely correct that we must energize conservatives, Republicans...and...Democrats who love this country. They do still exist and they will vote for Romney/Ryan if the message is clearly about the love of our great nation. In that speech, there must also be a clear, defined voice passionately stating that once elected, they will not abandon their principles nor there stated objectives in order to "reach across the aisle"! There is a distinct difference between working with opposing views and surrending your principles and morals so that everyone can just "get along". We want Romney/Ryan to stand strong, speak strongly and let our fellow patriots know they will fight for our country and defend our country and its people. The minute they start caving to liberal screechings and communistic goals, we are lost and our victory is hollow.

If the Republican candidates don't show an agressive "in your face" attitude and tell the American people the reality of the dire straits our nation is in and some solutions to help right the ship we will lose again.
Why the Republicans continue to be "whipping boys" for the Democrats is beyond me. They don't ever put up a decent fight and still don't realize, after all these years, that you cannot compromise, reach across the aisle and come to a satisfactory solution with these cutthroats. Everytime they have tried it comes back to bite them in the backside and the Democrats laugh with glee at the gullibility of these pansies.

R & R need to contrast two Americas, one based on obedience and shared mediocrity and one based on creativity, imagination, and equal opportunity to share in a dream. The America we are on track to achieve if the current administration stays in power is the America of obedience and mediocrity. The way it goes is that if you fill out a form and abide by the rules you can get the government to help you. You deserve it and the government is here to help you as long as you don’t show too much initiative and start making money on your own. The results of life based on obedience and shared mediocrity are already evident. The government forces banks to make high-risk loans, when the loans default, we get a world-wide depression/recession shared by everyone, the president and Congress blame the banks, and place more rules on them. The government puts into effect a health care plan that forces everyone to participate by the means of a tax/fee/fine. Healthcare providers and insurers that don’t like the plan go out of business. Social Security is on the verge of collapse and every plan that could save it gets shot down if it gives “too much” choice, while the only apparent alternative is to raise taxes so much that life as we have known it will be only a memory or a legend. We have not attained pure socialism, but every fully-implemented socialist agenda has included concentration camps for non-conformers and other misfits, and people need to recognize that the difference between what we have now and the final socialist state is one of degree not of type. The bailouts and stimulus programs favored by both parties in recent years are a case in point. In advocating a stimulus, the President said (I forget the exact quote), “We need to get the money in the hands of the folks that know what to do with it to get this economy turned around.” The bailouts and “stimuli” represent central planning at its worst: many of the bailouts and other “investments” were followed by the group receiving the “help” going out of business. The jobs created by the “stimulus” cost (I forget the exact numbers) hundreds of thousands per job. Rather than socialistic central planning, we have a better way and it is clearly implied in what the President said. If giving money to the people is the right thing to do, why don’t we let them keep it in the first place? I know what to do with my money much better than the government knows what I should do with it.

PART II The America of creativity, imagination, and of an equal opportunity to share in a dream has been a very different place from everywhere else on earth and from what we see these days in our own country. It is not and never was perfect, but everyone who came here was fired by the same hope that if they used their imagination, creativity, worked hard and maybe had some luck, they’d have a chance to achieve something for themselves and especially for their children that they didn’t have in the place they came from. The high taxes, high unemployment and/or lack of opportunity that come with central planning get in the way of achieving the dream. R & R need to contrast the two Americas and show that as constitutionalists, they will help get us back to our roots. The main message of most important leaders in American history has always specifically appealed to the founding principles of the country as in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Lincoln and M.L. King, though imperfect in various ways, specifically connected what they were saying with the founding principles. Lincoln: “conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.” King’s “letter from Birmingham Jail” and his “I have a dream” speech both sound themes similar to that of Lincoln. They did not, as does Obama, talk about “basic sense of fairness” or fool people by using verbiage from the constitution to provide cover for their programs such as getting the name of “Welfare” from the Constitution’s “Provide for the common welfare.” If R & R can show that their ideas are not their ideas or even “Conservative” ideas, but that they come from the constitution, I believe they can win in November. They need an authority on their side. Otherwise, it’s just a popularity contest between Obama and Romney.

I get tired of hearing politicians harp about the economy. It ain't the economy, stupid. The founding fathers gave us a constitutional republic. Ben Franklin said, "if you can keep it." Well, we haven't kept it. We have lost so many freedoms with our two party system it is not funny. The people have been so dumbed down with stupid TV shows and such. How many people actually know what a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC is? I'm afraid not many. I'm not worried about the economy. It will take care of itself. I'm worried about the tyranny that is overtaking our country. Our current "president" has done more to damage this country and take us closer and closer to a tyrannical dictatorship than anyone in history. If he is re-elected, it will be the end of the United States as we know it. Romney and Ryan have GOT to get the constitutional message across to the people and make them understand what Obama and the Supreme Court are doing to it.

I like the cut of your jib, Mr. Decker. However, I believe you are on the wrong tack.
While the citizens of this country have been subjected to awful 'govmint edukation' over the pased 50+ years, we need to remember there are some really smart people who retained their inate intelligence despite public education.
We lost our freedoms because we became lazy. We don't want to do the labor of thinking on serious issues, so we let others do it for us.
We put our trust in elected officials whom we thought had our best interest at heart. I maintain, with the passage of the 17th Amendment we began the steady ceeding of our liberties to popularly elected representatives. When the States lost their voice in the federal government, Senators became equal to Representatives, just with a longer incumbency. To subject out leders to a popularity contest has doomed the United States to being no better than a high school president with just as much effect. It seems.
Many have been fighting this tryanny for a long time, my father began fighting it in his youth and his father before him. More recently we saw the will of the people spoken in 2006 when we told President Bush that his Samnesty would not pass. Then again in 2010 when we routed as many dim witted statists as we could.
Now, we must roust ourselves again and throw out the forces of statism by voting "R" on November 6. But by voting 'R" we will not have solved the problem, we will have only given ourselves a chance at freedom.

Obama certainly kept one promise he made when he was running in 2008, to fundamentally transform America. He has done that brick by brick, but we are not going to allow him to bring the entire Nation down. We are fighting back and we will be doing it at the Polls on November 6th. God Bless America!

Why is the truth always stepped around about how all politicians lie and will say anything to get elected but once elected they always give in to the political Hitmen sent by the world banking moguls and they just do as there told and not as they said they would do and so fall right back into the statis quoe of special interest, take the money there payed to shut up for or die and grow some balls and expose it all and do the right thing for the people for once? No body trusts any politician, there all gutless money grubbing, lieing, thieving, two faced, back stabbers that leech off of all the tax payers running this great country into ruin and take all the industry to other countrys for the sake of there own pockets! I for one don't care about any politician untill he proves him or her self to be one hundred percent for the people and this great nation and not a cowered!!!!!!!!!!!!! expose the truth, do the right and I would take up arms to protect him or her! If Romney / Ryan are going to get and KEEP the Conservative base of the Republican party voting and donating to them, they need to steer clear of any GOP butt kissing. They also need to say something very respectable about Tea Party people, and they need to EMPHASIZE conservatives and the Constitution. I think they will, because if they DON'T........ they may not win. If they don't win; we're doomed.

Phoenix was one of the places the turned down for 2012 even though it would have been rather nice for the 100 year celebration of Arizona becoming a state to include the Republican National Convention.
The committee made a very poor decision with the gamble of Tampa!! Makes me wonder.......why.

Not sure what you consider "legit", but I've stated previously that the only difference between the Dems & Repubs is that the former are driving us toward the cliff at 100 mph, whereas the latter are "only" driving us toward the same cliff at 70 mph. They have no interest, except in sound bites to keep us all "believing", in moving that steering wheel one bit. So either way we go over the cliff; it's just a matter of timing. Perhaps - PERHAPS - R&R will buy us a few years, but both parties are so beholden to the powerful interests in The Swamp that they will take us all down.
Sure, you can find little areas where they differ, but in the big picture, Romney & Obama have the same prescription for Amerika - more government, less liberty, economic disaster, more & more wars. Give us "legit" examples of how the Empire of Amerika is any different - and therefore will have any different outcome - than the Empires of Greece, Rome, Egypt, Persia, Great Britain, France, Japan, Russia, etc. They all grew and grew and had to provide bread & circuses to the masses. They all debased their currencies to continue fighting unaffordable wars. And they all collapsed.
Has Romney seriously suggested auditing the Federal Reserve, much less abolishing it? Neither has Obummer. Has he suggested returning to the gold standard? Neither has Obummer. Has he mentioned doing away with a single unconstitutional alphabet soup agency? Neither has Obummer. Has he said we can no longer afford these costly wars? Neither has Obummer. Doing away with the IRS & repealing the 17th Amendment? Eliminating corporate taxes? Implementing the Fair or Flat Tax? Neither has Obummer.
See my post above, dated 8/23, on the state of our nation's debt. Do you think Romney - or ANY presidential candidate - will be able to do anything about that, when there are 535 other politicians who depend on graft from the tax code, and printing money for the bread & circuses?
And these problems have clearly been brought about by both parties. As I've said, they are two wings of the same bird of prey. And guess who the prey is?

Nick, these are not simple times. You need to get educated on the issues, and you are mostly in the right place. While I disagree with the Patriot Post (which I faithfully support every year) that Romney or the Republicans are anything close to the answer to our nation's problems, this site will help you understand many of the issues at stake. May I also recommend subscribing to free daily e-mails from Lew Rockwell (lewrockwell.com) and Laissez Faire Today (lfb.org) for starters.
But here's my simple message: Don't be fooled by the bright shiny objects the Republicans are putting in front of you to make you think there are any substantive differences between them and the Democrats. We are in deep kim-chee, and both parties got us there. I don't know if you have children, but is it good parenting to give little Johnny candy and hammers when he's smashing up your house? No, we don't aid and reward bad behavior. Neither should we aid and reward the bad behavior of the people who continually make a mess out of this wonderful country...though it has been made less wonderful over the last several decades.
Learn about some of the 3rd party candidates like Gary Johnson or Virgil Goode, for example. If the Republicans lose some more elections, then perhaps they'll wake up and reacquaint themselves with that venerable old document, the Constitution. But the message they get by winning is that we like them acting like Democrats, and we DON'T!
God bless you, brother.

I have grave doubts that Romney can right this American ship. I know that obongo will let it sink. The one thing I'm becoming more and more sure of is that this country will fade into history unless we repent to God and put him back in our country. Look at what has happened to this country since we allowed God to be banished from our schools and our courts. 9/11, the past "recession" that we are still in. The ACLU is nothing more than a tool that Satan uses to deceive gullible (democrats & republicans) people. Same sex marriage is now allowed in some "progressive" states. Same sex marriage is an abomination in the eyes of God. I've just finished reading a book by Jonathan Cahn called The HARBINGER. This book shows what has happened to ancient Israel (732 BC) when they turned their backs on God. America is going down this same road at this very time. We can not change this by ourselves, we must put God back in our lives and become One Nation Under God once again. If we don;t we will be destroyed, it's just a matter of time. And there's not much of that left.

Having been around for some 77 years, I have seen the degradation of this country moving forward with increasing speed. My premise is that the greatest quality missing in our republic is leadership, especially in the area of morality. I never dreamed that in my lifetime I would see a president of this great nation publicly advocating abortion, same-sex marriage, and a host of related immoral positions, while taking great pride in his ability to deceive the American people.

While I agree with the seriousness of the social issues you raised, to me it is even more appalling that we have a president that openly defies and circumvents our Constitution and openly admitted that it was that great document that keeps him from doing what he would really like to do; who has put laws in place to arbitrarily jail individuals without right to due process; who has given millions to the musilim brotherhood in Egypt without approval from Congress (and it wasn't even our war); who has repeatedly denied access to his birth certificate (if there is nothing to hide why is it hidden); who protects his cronies like Eric Holder from being held accountable for his actions; who has been asked for other documents to which he denies access, and the list goes on and on and on. And yet, no one in the media will touch any of it, neither does congress hold him accountable even though he is walking all over them. Wake up America before it is too late.

As far as "unifying the country", that will not happen until there are changes in academia first and the media second. In the 90's the American Legion conducted a survey of college professors. 95 % identified themselves as either Democrat, Liberal, Socialist or some other kind of left wing wing-nut. Only 5% identified themselves as Republican or conservative. (so much for diversity) I suspect it is the same at high-school and elementary levels as well. So, we have decades of students who have been indoctrinated and more or less conditioned to vote as Liberals. Those who find media jobs slant the news to confirm with those views.

The real fact is that there will be no "revolution." This election is a referendum against radical extremism and Barack Obama. After Romney's spineless remarks about Todd Akin last week, I am reserved to believe that the only thing that will happen if Romney is elected is simply, nothing. The economy will stay the same or get a little better. But, Romney lacks guts. He gave in and contributed as did his party bosses to crucify Akin. Admittedly, Todd Akin's remarks were stupid. But, the man apologized and asked for forgiveness. Apparantly, Mormon forgiveness (thus those of Romney) is purely conditional. Bill Clinton can lie under oath. Joe Biden can issue racial slurs. But if a conservative says something wrong, its grounds for dumping them in the coliseum and releasing the lions to eat them alive. We aren't getting a revolution with Romney. We're getting more "political correctness," moderate leadership and nothing substantive. Given the opportunity to really put Democrats in their place, the GOP is up to its old, loser behavior. Ronald Reagan would turn in his grave.

I agree. It is all well and good to have that third party out there campaigning and making noise, as it does get the opponents attention when they see the response from the people. It does not however send any kind of message by splitting the vote. It does send a clear message when the encumbant is ousted because the two opposing sides united.

It will not change the steady drive to Socialism if GOP wins in Nov. They will not attempt to make radical reversals of Obamas failed programs nor will they deviate from the path the GOP has taken taken for years-A slow march to Socialism as opposed to Progressive lefts full on end run. It is past time to end the Party system or at least the 2 sides of the same coin party system. The only thing politicians are interested in is reelection and until the positions offer no monetary gain or retirement benifit nor long term employment and cannot be used to subsidize or monopoplize their favorite constituency we will have more of the same until Civil War 2 erupts here. There is much wrong in this country and all of it is caused by too much government. They engage in constant wars to enrich their corporate and banking interests and shift focus off problems here, They have the Media in their pockets as willing accomplises because the media believes in Socialism wholeheartedly. It is probably too late to save America from it's self. The indoctrination has been almost a total sucess over the last 100 years. "I am concerned for the security of our great nation, not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within." --General Douglas MacArthur (1880-1964) "[I]t doesn't require expropriation or confiscation of private property or business to impose socialism on a people. What does it mean whether you hold the deed or the title to your business or property if the government holds the power of life and death over that business or property? Such machinery already exists. The government can find some charge to bring against any concern it chooses to prosecute. Every businessman has his own tale of harassment. Somewhere a perversion has taken place. Our natural, inalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment." --Ronald Reagan
Tom Jefferson: "God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. ... What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that the people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

What the Romney campaign needs to trongly promote and display ( as well as the whole Republican party) is, it is time to stop blaming and hating. To Belittle is to be little, period. All Americans need to be proud of America and our heritage, we need to hold ourselves accountable yet still be proud to be American while continuing to promote a philosophy of what is best for America and that doing this will ultimately start to address the petty differences we tend to let others convince us to focus on.

Romney-Ryan should not only get victory but get a landslide victory over Obama. That would really get America back on their feet and realize what a dismal mistake they made with Obama. We need someone much more like Reagan to help unite the Republicans and Democrats for the sake of America. Mr. Romney is running for President of the United States. This is a position of Trust. Ronald Reagan said, "Trust but Verify." Mr. Romney has said, "Trust me," re his tax returns. It is not unreasonable for voters to want to "Verify.
What is the single issue on which Mr. Romney has never flip-flopped? He stands doggedly firm on never, under any circumstances, releasing his tax returns.
Why?
It is not just liberals who want to see Romney's tax returns. It is 63% of American voters who do.
The longer Mr. Romney delays, the more suspicious it appears.
Obama released 8 years of tax returns GW Bush 10 years Clinton 12 years GHW Bush 14 years George Romney 12 years.
What is there to hide?
