Dagny and J. Steffler,

Until we abolish political parties altogether we will continue to have our bipolar system. Why? Because it's expedient and there's not enough political interest and moxey to support numerous parties. And there are probably other reasons that I haven't thought of (please, anyone, have a whack at it). But you both can feel a little better when I say that you're correct, that the Republican Party has gone off the rails a bit, over the past few decades - but they don't compare to the Democrats, not at all.

So the take home message is that if you're unhappy with the Republican Party, then work to change it from the inside. That's exactly what the Tea Party influence is for, to route out the corruption and cronyism in the Republican Party and to bring it back to its roots of liberty, fiscal accountability and limited government. For us to redeem ourselves as a society, politicians need to separate their duties as public servants from their own personal, individual ambitions, and from the goals of their respective party affiliations.

The Democrat party is a lost cause. Their immorality and corruption emulates the soul of Joseph Stalin.

But with the current bipolar system we have, Mr. Paul and the Libertarians will never get the support they need to win. Sorry to burst your bubble. The numbers are just not there. We need to reform the Republican party but we're never going to do that if people withhold their vote for Republicans, effectively keeping Democrats in office. With Democrats in office, we'll never, ever, come clean as a society. The stench will be too great.
