I understand your cynicism, but one thing is different this year. In the past, there has always been more road to kick the deficit/debt/entitlement can down. Now the road has become a cul de sac. Ryan has recognized that and his message is that the situation has now become so urgent that it must be dealt with NOW. Once that message is delivered, that urgency will be translated into a mandate for Romney-Ryan to do what they are now telling us is necessary. I really think that, at heart, Ryan is one of US and not one of THEM.
