Please avoid catchy phrases and slogans!
The most intractable problem of our electorate is the dependence upon slogans, catchy phrases, snappy retorts and political analysis from one-line, stand-up comedians. Too many of our citizens live on the corner of Madison Avenue and Sesame Street. For decades, they have suffered "edutainment" (education via entertainment). Their brains enter foggy fantasies, eyelids drop and ears hide beneath earphones of favorite tunes whenever a solution requires more than a couple of hours of thought.
The dumbing down of our electorate jeopardizes our liberty and posterity. It is chronic, carcinogenic and threatens to be fatal. A most important issue must be abolishment and recreation of a public education system that demands, promotes and honors scholarship exclusively and above all else. It is past time to stop the insidious evils of confounding illusions of non-values of self-esteem; racial, gender, ethnic quotas and educator’s unions that promote themselves mostly, educator’s lastly, and student’s scholarship never.
