I got some news for you. Romney is a NWO candidate and so is Osama Obama, the Economic Terrorist. The NWO took two steps forward with the BO and now they'll gladly take ONE step back - it's still PROGRESSIVE. Get it? Romney gets to usher in the financial collapse that will bring the NWO to power. Obama is finished with his assignment and has been told that President Romney will take over now. Do you know the lines to "Happy Days Are Here Again"?

Romney was off on the details, but he got the essence correct. A single-income family like ours, with 6 dependent children, owes no federal income tax, it's true; but we are not part of the dependent-on-government demo, nor the voting-for-Obama demo. We've been broke a few times, especially the past five years, but we've never been poor and never will be, and no matter how "inelegantly" Romney makes his point we will never vote for the likes of Barack Obama, the man most responsible for thwarting the economic growth that families like ours need to climb back into the 53%.

Mike McGinn in People's Republic of Maryland

Ironically, before 1913, when our nation first started taking a socialist tilt, NO ONE paid federal income taxes. The federal income tax didn't exist before 1913. There were only seven tax brackets in 1913 (1% - 7%) and you had to earn the inflation adjusted equivilent of over $450,000 before you moved into the 2% bracket. However, a short 5 years later in 1918 (never letting an crisis like WWI go to waste) there were 56 tax brackets ranging from 6%-77%. That person earning $450,000 in 1913 who paid just 2% was now paying 26% in 1918. The rest, as they say, is history.

VoR in Ohio

There was an income tax before 1913 - from 1862 until 1868, when it was declared unconstitutional. In 1913, the 16th Amendment made it constitutional.

It is my understanding, and please correct me if I am wrong, that the 16th Amendment was never properly ratified and was pushed through nontheless. A graduated income tax is however part of the Communist Manifesto.

People have debated for years whether the Ohio legislature properly ratified the 16th Amendment. Nevertheless, it would be best if it is repudiated by outright repeal; after 99 years it would be very difficult to get it thrown out on "technicality" no matter howegregious.

Mike, it is sad that we take from the producers and give to those who do not want to contribute. I am not talking about the ones who go to work everyday and still struggle. I am talking about the ones who expect Big Brother Government to step in and be the provider. This always backfires when the Govt starts dictating every aspect of your life. All one has to do is look at history which is filled with examples of how someone promised so much only to demand loss of freedom and liberty.

Larry N,

Keep working. Work feeds the soul and matures the character. I say you're on the right track.

As is the same with charity, the clearest gauge for the prosperity of a nation is not how many entitlement programs it boasts, rather, how few it needs. So then I ask the open question: how are we doing?

Obama's goal is to boost and replicate entitlements, create more government programs, and basically create dependency on government coffers, which in turn, creates dependency on the productivity of a tiny minority of high-income earners who have no political voice. They become tax slaves while the rest of us become totally dependent on goverment, and persistently vote for whomever will give us more.

Obama is not the amiable bonehead, over his head as president, as so many would have us believe, as they try to excuse our beeline for the sewer, under his reign.

This is Vladimir Lenin 101 which results in the rescindment of liberty, poverty for all but the ruling class, and single-party rule.

Has anyone ever broken down the 47% number. I'm curious. To me, he might be correct yet its the attitude, the screw you mentality, I am better than most of anyone else country club mindset.

I am with all of you, personal responsibility yet his own father was on welfare, well his grandfather. Now he wants to take away the safety net, or does he? he keeps changing his story so I never know where he stands on any issue.

If you dimattle the satisfy net then the civil war a lot of you seem to want will happen. There will be food riots and the rich will be burned out of house and home. the end result will be a military dictatorship that will soon transition into communism. There are no easy solutions, only tough problems

"If you dimmatle the satisfy net---" / "--then the civil war a lot----"/ "---military dictatorship that will transfer into communism." I suspect you intended to say dismantle the safety net. I further presume you intended revolution when you stated civil war. Military dictator ship? Not likely Mr. Sprau. You need a spell check device, and you need to learn history. It was the military that provided the opportunity of this Republic. Only three percent of the population at that time. That was a revolution, not a civil war. Check the last paragraph of the PP. "Some may be reluctant to pursue arms if the ballot fails." Not this military individual, and I know of hundreds who feel the same way. That revolution was against a tyrant king, we have the same situation now and it may require the same rise of at least three percent. Semper Fidelity, hmmm?

Robert, RK Sprou is accurate in his prediction regarding the “satisfy net,” which will dismantle itself because it is unsustainable, and this will indeed result in civil war. You are correct that we will probably need the military to pull us through, which explains why Obama and the leftist scum are trying to weaken it, homosexuals in the military and putting women in combat positions being recent examples.

It will take more than three percent this time because the enemy is here in much greater numbers, and I think we have more patriots than that. Semper Fi.

My God, the liberal media can't take our rallying cry and make it theirs! We need to get angry like we were before Obamacare passed, when we filled auditoriums and sports centers, rallying around the Tea Party and standing behind our (then unelected freshman) congressmen and women. Just because we didn't understand the depth of corruption in the DNC and the lengths Obama would go to to get what he wants, think we can't fight back effectively. Unless we revisit that passionate state when we said "No" to Obamacare, we will descend quietly into the history books as' the America that was' before Obama came along and saved the country and re-wrote the constitution. We now recognize the enemy for what he (and they) are. We lost that bid because we thought they would fight fair. Now we know they won't, but we can still be up for the battle. Isn't it worth it? We can't sit back and watch it all taken from us. Someone said, "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." Really? That's not what taking the gloves off means. I'm sick of not sleeping and I'm tired of hearing false poll numbers. Where are our organizers? We barely have time to get this party off the ground but we better. The conservative base is the white population and as the white majority dwindles and disappears politics becomes pure wealth redistribution, with increasing use of force to accomplish that end. Romney's figures were poorly chosen as they include people on Social Security--probably 10% of those he mentioned. Many of them, paid a lot in taxes over their lifetimes, and are not completely reliant on the government. That insinuation is offensive to many oldsters.
In any case, my dog would make a better president than OB.

You said it: "In any case". We dont' need to convince ourselves that anybody that was raised a conservative in this county would be a better bet to lead than Obama. We don't need to listen daily to statistics and news clips to shore up our support for Romney. We don't need anything but our resolve to get rid of socialism and terrorism, which will soon visit us where we live if we end up with another 4 for Obama. From the start we saw that Obama wants to be chairman, not president. He is not qualified to be the president of a free nation. We must defeat him. We must get angry and do it. Work until you tire for the cause of freedom. We have never been challenged like this on our home soil, but understand, patriots, we are gambling with our freedom. Get up, off your computer chair and go to your local Victory Center to see what you can do in the next 30 days to defeat this miscreant.

I am on disability, I am unable to work full-time. However, I had a job teaching a class After School Programs at a public school district & paid directly by parents- when the Socialist cadre decided I & others, (after we had been invited to teach) were leveraging the public schools for private profit!. $6K sporadically received, part-time seasonal work, is not a profit but a supplement. Only college students, unemployed, or semi-retired pensioners are able to do this type work, because it is 2-6pm daily work window, it is anti-shift. So the Socialist want us to pay a facilities charge which would mean 10 students minimum to cover my expense, & although we are known to them, must re-apply each year with a term-paper like mission statement essay (with all the right sentimentality no doubt) even if previously known to them. (Forbid it- a Christian granddad be near the little children). Also required a $1M Business liability insurance policy(OK), but also $1M Auto liability insurance policy which is 800% more than state of GA require for hi-way driving. Sure, the premiums are not that onerous but I already have Auto insurance required by the state. An annual criminal background check $40 each, OK 1st time, but they should pay the others. And the district does not hire the ASPs must apply; that is, run-around to each school separately to be hired. Red Tape. I taught there for from 2003- after my last full-time job until spring 09, when this new district policy started. My last full-time job in 2003, I have to plan every trip , & I refuse to take food stamps, I am a prisoner in my home soon to be fore-closed. the safety has been drawn up around my neck.

My dad, a career Army man, taught my brother and I that if we want a good job with good benefits, get a good education because the government owes us nothing. It is and always will be the individuals responsibility to provide for self and family, by God's grace. I have no idea when the notion that government owes everyone something came in to play, but nothing is farther from the truth. I love this country and am proud to be an American. This country is worth fighting for, by ballot or bullet.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting an inexperienced man like him with the presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive an Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of Idiots such as those who made him their president." AMERICA IS BOTH BROKE AND BROKEN

Romney was absolutely correct and he should be much more vocal about it. It was NOT a political gaffe, it was the truth and it should be brought to light. I can guarantee that the people who do work for a living and who do pay [way too much] of my income in taxes are pissed off about that. Socialism (communism) sucks and will always end badly. Just like fiat currency, it is doomed to failure.

There is one thing I really wish that the media (including so-called conservative media) would talk about incessantly and you guys never do, is the real truth about who is really running things and WHY this country has gone the way it has. WHY it is that congress only passes laws that hurt Americans and never ever help us. PLEASE START EXPOSING THE PEOPLE WHO ARE IN CONTROL. Until yall start to do that, these people in the shadow government and the mega-wealthy bankers [illuminati, CFR, central banks, etc.] will always be able to operate secretly. These are the ones who own nobama and all the wasted payroll masquerading as congress.

If nobama gets re-elected I am leaving the country for good. He will have unlimited free reign to finish destroying the country so that the one-world government people can finalize their plans. They have to destroy the United States to do that and look around... THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING! Why don't you guys start telling the truth for a change instead of continually dancing around the truth? Talking about the symptoms is OK but does nothing to help rid us of the disease.

Unfortunately we may be too late.

As the Heritage Foundation reference book - cited in the PP - shows, the huge increase in Federal dependency occurred in the Bush, Jr. years. Where were we in 2002, 2004, 2006, as well as 2008?

A quick analogous story about California: When Jerry (Moonbeam) Brown was again elected to Governor (2010), I asked some friends why anyone would vote for him. Two voted because they were "True [left wing] Believers" one because he disliked Brown's opponent and one because her government-supported job would likely disappear if Brown lost. I suggest that similar motivations apply here, in addition to the "too-lazy-to-work poor" stereotype.

If there's one thing we should all be aware of is that the truth isn't always pretty...but, the truth IS the truth! Generations of families have been on the system -- THAT goes from dependence to expectation and it is NOT right. There is not a Republican or conservative I know who would begrudge a senior who has put INTO the system all his/her life getting social security and medicare; nor ANY veteran getting all the care and assistance they need for their service to our country in defending our values and our lives. We certainly don't have a problem with people who have lost their jobs due to the mishandling of our economy by the current administration getting assistance as they continue to try to get back on their feet. THAT, however, is NOT redistribution of wealth. I don't have much, but what I have I have worked very, very hard for for the past 35 years...I will be damned if I'm going to let some idiot socialist take it and give it to those who feel entitled! I pay for my own healthcare, and did for my son when he was growing up -- ho one offered, nor was I led to believe, that anyone but ME was responsible for my son's well-being. I put food on the table, I paid his medical bills, I gave him everything I could -- NOT everything he WANTED! He had an absent father and learned from that how NOT to be a father. He has now opened a second business, has just bought his first home, and is doing very well -- sadly, in Australia because his America, my America, couldn't get him where he wanted to go. This is OUR country -- we have to be willing to FIGHT for it!

I whole heartedly agree with the statements made by Mitt Romney about the 47% who don't pay taxes and your analysis that 30-40% of them have no reason t support lowering our $16-trillion national debt. If we can not admit or acknowledge the problem we can not solve it.

So how do we convince these folks who depend on government payments for their lively hood, and I'm not talking about those who receive military retirement, Social Security Retirement, or for those who simply can not support themselves, that when the government goes bankrupt or the economy collapses they will HAVE NOT PAYMENTS of any kind from a government that is broke? This view that no matter what those government checks will still come at the first of each month is beyond all comprehension. These people are living in an alternative universe.

Steve in North Las Vegas

Ours is a representative government. Before we look to violence to restore liberty, let us consider that the problem lies not with our elected officials but in the people who elect them. Most of us saw that Clinton should have been impeached, but was protected by a democrat Senate, yet he was re-elected overwhelmingly. The same will likely happen with Obama. The problem is not that Obama will serve another 4 years. The problem is we have failed and the liberals have won at educating others. Before we ever take up arms, we must make a renewed effort to point out the failures of the left and support those tea party candidates who will support our constitution. Remember, too, that most revolutions lead to dictatorships, not a renewed constitution.

MNIce in Minnesota

Clinton was impeached during his second term, so that had no bearing on his re-election. You are absolutely correct that the Senate failed to "do justice" as they swore to do at the beginning of the impeachment trial.

One point frequently overlooked in the history of America's First Revolution is that it was not a rebellion against government, but a a war waged in support of, and with the support of, the local governments in their cause against the abuses of the Crown. Likewise, if there must be a Second Revolution, it must be under the auspices of the states against the abuses of the central government. Otherwise, it is a mere rebellion, and will be put down harshly.

Another consideration is the necessity of putting God first (regardless of what Marc in Georgia feels about doing so). The God who gave us life also gave us liberty. We are in this mess because we have misused our liberty to indulge in license, or we have looked the other way when others did so instead of rebuking them. A revolution without respect for God will degenerate into a reign of terror - as we saw in France, Russian, China, Cuba, Cambodia, etc. Steve's concern is very valid.

The rallying cry of the First American Revolution was. "We have no king but Jesus!" Those who said this also lived as if Jesus was their King, for the most part. Is it our intent to live godly lives under a godly government, or are we merely rebellious because we chafe under abusive taxes and regulations? We certainly have an ungodly government - it runs up debt in our names with no plan to ever commence repayment, it forces people to act against conscience in the support of murder-for-hire on behalf of those who would kill their children for the sake of convenience, it overturns laws intended to provide for the proper role of human sexuality and the upbringing of children, while discriminating against marriage and married people in numerous programs, and in many other ways calls good evil, and evil, good. But the indictment is useless unless our goal is to give our neighbors a better government. Our intent to rebuild the Republic is in vain unless we acknowledge God as the ultimate head of it, and our representatives understand and believe that they are first accountable to God, then to the people, for the manner in which they fulfill their duties. "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Hamilton in IL
Friday, September 21, 2012 at 12:08 PM

MNIce,

A lot of what you say here is valid but I have to ask you something. What if we were to go on a second revolution, and a majority had the rallying cry, "we have no king but Muhammad!"? Would the new government that gets formed be a godly government?

I think perhaps "godly" is too relative a term upon which to justify a revolution. However, behind the godliness that you attribute to Jesus' teachings, there is human philosophy that predates Jesus. Don't you think people conceived of the golden rule before Jesus' time?

I think what we're fighting for is to live under wholesome philosophical principles, for lack of a better description, and that for us, Christianity has long ago adopted them and contains them.

I think we, in this generation, are being victimized by a very long timeline of people in our government losing focus on and disregarding just what the purpose of our government was intended to be. These people (legislators, judges, presidents, secretaries - the whole gamut - and on down through the lower levels of government, e.g. Chicage didn't need federal help to corrupt themselves) have placed themselves or their own prejudices, ahead of their respective duites as objective public servants. They have incrementally enacted corrupt policies for their own corrupt purposes, and this has been going on for generations.

It may be that history is repeating itself for our generation. Like in the American Revolution, we've reached the time where we're at or near the cusp of the shit hitting the fan. Obama's corruption is so blatant, and so much in our faces, that we're about to explode, and we're at odds with each other, just as it was before our birth as a nation.

A response many make to the 'they don't pay taxes' comment is that, well, they pay Social Security/Medicare. Since those taxes 'pay for the program' only about three fourths of the year, for the rest of the time even they are completely dependent upon the largesse of the income taxpayers. In fact, beginning about now and until the end of the year, the feds have spent ALL the revenue they expect to receive this year. As a result, every check - from the President's salary, Defense contractors, SS, Medicare, etc. - actually is a bounced check, supported only by China and the others who buy bonds (disregarding the paper garbage provided by the Fed Reserve).

In fewer than two months, we will find out if enough Americans understand that the ONLY source of government money, at ANY level of government, is the American people, through the taxes they pay. If high unemployment persists, and if the economy fails to expand at a higher rate than at present, then Americans must turn Democrats out of office in November, or face the bleakest future imaginable. That future will include loss of military power and international stature, hyper-inflation, and economic implosion that will affect at least a generation of our people, because Democrats will simply not stop spending money beyond the tax revenue that flows in. Rock bottom will probably arrive around 2030 or so . . . pleasant thought, isn't it?

I'm sorry but wasn't it the GOP who instituted the earned income credit? Didn't Bush expand the government to unheard of size? Didn't the GOP during the 90s allow Clinton to push ninja mortgage loans?

Both parties grow govwernment and steal from our pockets to grow the beast. Will Romney kill any federal agencies? Will he cut foreign aid or end affirmative action? Wake up people your liberties are being stolen each day. Now I understand how Hitler came to power.

While some of what you say is true, i do not feel Romney will be a breach of our Constitutional rights or go around due process of law as this administration is doing.

The current administration is giving more rights to illegals, muslims than Christians. Slapping Israel in the face. Plus his refusal to let America drill for needed oil that would cut the cost of fuel by great measures.

I have to agree that there is much needed change in politics as a whole. But when Americans' rights are being stripped away, morals being shattered, something has to change.

Mitt Romney doesn't have all the answers.Even if he did left wingnuts would continue to throw wrenches into the works. Mitt Romney is the only candidate that is capable of turning our economy around. While we taxpayers will have to take a hit with either candidate,no way around it,America is better off with a new administration.

The outrageous attacks that are being hurled at Romney are vicious lies and propaganda that are utterly despicable to honest, upright Patriots.

God help us to defeat the regime that wants to disperse our hard earned money to those who depend on socialist handouts.

We have to reduce government, produce our own utilities and fuel. Screw the EPA. As far as i know the U.S. is the only country abiding by clean air acts, etc.Making our citizens foot the bill, such as the refrigerant fiasco. While i think it healthy to limit as much as emissions as possible, not to the extent it shuts down American jobs and puts more Americans in poverty.

I agree with you that EPA has gone overboard. My wife has to deal with them, Still if left to no regulation, another banking crises? I know, the Ohio river can catch on fire again or how about Love Canal. I am for personal responsibility and since corporations are people s defined by the supreme court and Mitt, the second you poison my family for you want to make an extra buck, or have a mine cave in, this is where we part ways for corporations will never take responsibility. If they did then the EPA would not exist, there would be no Love Canal nor would a river be so polluted it will actually burn. What I hear is, deregulation, get gig brother off our back. Fine, deregulation almost caused another great depression. the safety net help prevent that, George Bush help prevent it. Since deregulation worked so well, the 1st time, let's do it again. small government, no overlapping of agencies, common sense

MNIce in Minnesota
Friday, September 21, 2012 at 12:00 AM

"Deregulation" did not "almost cause another great depression." Rather, the housing bubble was caused by a regulation restricting the banks' own regulations on lending to risky customers. Banks then began playing hot potato with the sub-prime mortgages until the music stopped (mortgage backed securities and derivatives based on them were part of the game). The big banks who got stuck holding the hot potatoes were able to slip them to the taxpayers through their political influence. That, not deregulation, is the story behind the mess.

Re the EPA: you may have missed the massive cultural changes since the fires on the surface of the Love Canal. The EPA is probably no longer needed, except as an interstate compact to help states deal with cross-border environmental protection issues. Now that people are accustomed to regulating pollution emissions, and every state has at least one environmental agency of its own, the EPA as a federal agency is obsolete as well as outside of Constitutional authority in much of what it does.

Likewise, we can and should expect our state governments to monitor workplace safety and bring the force of law to bear on the criminally negligent. OSHA is extra-constitutional.

The US Constitution only defines a handful of federal crimes. So why are there over 4500 statutes in the US Code with criminal penalties? Who was the idiot that first suggested almost every offense should be a federal crime? What's wrong with leaving the responsibility with the states, closer to the people, where it belongs?

As long as the focus is on whether the government handouts will continue at their same level, that segment of voters will vote for the hand that feeds them. However, they are not a consolidated mass. They have many complaints. Focusing on their complaints can move them to vote for a better day.

Abraham Lincoln focused on freedom for the slaves. The welfare recipients are now slaves without hope of escape just as the plantation slaves were in Lincoln's day. Many of his speeches could be given today giving hope of new freedom for the enslaved welfare recipients. Perhaps, many of them will vote for Liberty if the dialog is changed to give them that hope.

Those who are dependent upon the government for aid, foodstamps, SSDI, etc, include those who are forced to cling to this assistance for survival. Some have simply never known the experience of earning their own income. I do think that the security of a government deposit to the bank account on the first of the month cannot be compared to the promises of a rich candidate who promises to provide jobs to replace that monthly security. First of all, the probability of creating all those jobs seems unrealistic in this economy. Second, cuts to entitlement programs is a vague threat, but a serious one, to the only income many of these people receive. They might not be ready to go to work for whatever reason. It can be scary going back into the work force after getting aid for a considerable amount of time. A vote for Romney equals trusting a guy even many conservatives are cool towards. Its no wonder Romney is making little progress in these camps. Romney needs to convince these dependent groups that he will not harm them, but only has their best interest at stake and will work hard to transition them into independence instead of dependence. Then they will ask for details. If Romney can't provide anything now (and it better be convincing)he may not be able to produce after the election. I think a lot of people (I definitely am NOT one of those) feel its safer to take their chances with Obama because he is one of them, than Romney, and that at least Obama will keep the checks coming so they can feed their families. I am, of course, talking about people who would rather be working, not those who like sitting around.

They are not the only ones to suffer the consequences. The real problem is with those who leave politics to others, who don't get involved. They allow the MSM to feed them pablum every night. Excellent article on the ObamaNation Plantation! "No society ever thrived because it had a large and growing class of parasites living off those who produce." --Thomas Sowell Here we have a nation in which nearly half of the citizens are living off the other half. In short, I have to work two jobs so I can pay for all the parasites living off my labor. One job for me, and the other for the bums who produce nothing, yet increasingly want MORE "free stuff." I recently saw a picture of a protestor carrying a sign which read, "Just get the government to print more money." How foolish! The more currency that is printed, the less it is worth. By that logic, the Bureau of Printing and Engraving could print a single-issue bill with "16 Trillion" in the corners and pay off the national debt. And I would be willing to bet that our debtors would run all the way to the bank with that note! Didn't depression-era Germany try the same thing? On the Michael Medved radio show this week, he interviewed a communist leader from here in the US, (I didn't catch the name) who confirmed that they don't use the democratic process - they don't vote- but when their supporters reach 50 million they would march on DC, (with 50 million supporters they would undoubtedly have supporters in the armed forces) and say, (paraphrasing) "We're taking over, your time is over. You are out of power and we are in power." How many food stamp recipients are there today? Was that 46.5 million? Of course not all of them are abusing this program and giving up their Liberty for sitting on the couch or whatever communist minded people do with their time, but dependancy is a pit that is hard to climb out of. The number 47% is actually confusing. Yes, 47% of the public pays no income tax and many are on government subsidies but when taken into account those working union members, federal government employees and Wall Street bankers benefiting from Ben Bernake printing money and causing the stock market to rise it does appear President Barack Obama has a clear 53% majority advantage going into this election thus ensuring a second term of office regardless of the economy, housing market or unemployment rate.

Unfortunately, Mitt Romney's percentage of people on the public dole is correct. Also unfortunately, this group will vote to keep their generous dole that sustains their livelyhood. At times I fear to include myself in those numbers because 100% of my income (because I am 100% disabled) comes from the government; however, I am consoled by the fact that I served 20 years in the military whereby I obtained my afflictions through honorable service (plus, I still pay taxes). Nonetheless, Mr. Romney does face a formidable foe in that Obama starts the contest with a solid set of voters in his favor. Hopefully Mr. Romney can overcome this disadvantage but don't discount the fact that when it counts, Democrats seem to have the dead vote, a greater number of voters than exist in the precints and a host of other strange phenomenon. I believe that if Obama does attain a second term, it will be by the nefarious means characteristic of the Democrat party when times are tough. Should that occur, I give this nation a maximum of two years (ie, 2014 maybe 2015) before it ceases to exist as it currently does.

I have been saying this all along...that we are too politically correct in this country.

But I have been also saying for a long time - the dog doesn't bite the hand that feeds it. And there are many {dogs} that with cast a paw for Obama for that very reason.

Dr. Lyle Rossiter has it completely right about Liberal policies and Liberal thought. I believe that the people have the ability to change this cycle & instead, live in the stage of opulence indefinitely. The key to this change requires a society based on religious principles and ideals. It also requires that the people become involved in their government - and in the efforts to maintain it. The comment is actually very factual especially when taken in the context of the gay & lesbian movement, the green people and the women lib group. There is a radical base element that will always vote Democrat, have been for generations and one only has to view past Democratic conventions, promise everything and everything for free. Unfortunately this group which is growing fast has never really gotten anything but empty promises, but because of pollitical payoffs to community leaders and the unions, they stay in line and vote Democrat. The former soviet union was very similar, like a dog chasing its tail around a tree, so long as it does not catch it, it keeps chasing, but catch it (goes broke) and everything stops. Oh wait, maybe it's that they realize they might lose some of their power and control if people hear the TRUTH! That it might just raise questions about what's actually happening! Romney just uttered a FACT; that it was pointless to waste his time and money to try to "convert" those who are so tied to Obama's lies economically that nothing would convince them to vote against him! He didn't say he hated those folks; in fact I suspect he's more pitying of their plight and the hole they choose to stay in, by supporting Obama, and wants to provide the ladder with which they can climb out of it; but he knows they WON'T vote for him at this point, no matter what he says now.

Your words echo similar words I've spoken in the past but rarely written in so public a venue. Quite frankly, I have tried to avoid being place on The List that I have no doubt is being prepared even now in Washington, DC. The List will those who must be silenced in order to avoid incitement to revolution.

However, the tree of liberty must be regularly refreshed with the blood of partiots and tyrants, and I believe that we are past fixing the problem at the ballot box. I predict riots following the November election, no matter who wins. I also predict mttacks on American soil very soon by Islamists who are ready to bring the war to us, knowing that our national will is weak and our leadership is conplicit.

But I have decided that I must join you in speaking out. So there, put my name near the top of The List and rest assured that I am a person not to be trifled with. My oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, given upon becoming a Marine 40 years ago had no expiration clause; it is still in effect.

Couldn't agree with you more! The only real hope for this nation is ..."If my people who are called by my name, humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." Note of interest, God is speaking to those of us who believe and are called by His name! Lets hit our knees and ask Him to search our hearts and repent...all of us. We will see Him heal our land. Let the enemy try to come against the God of the universe who wanted us to set Him as a light on the hill of every city!

What's the problem with this nation, that when the truth is uttered it becomes a big controversy!? What we need is more people with a spine to speak the truth and stand firm on it. It is the unadulterated truth that will set us free. Does it not give us pause as to why we would support any candidate that constantly has to spin or even hide their agenda......One who says he'll have more flexibility after the election sounds like one concealing the truth of what he intends to do with this nation. Politicians who enslave the populace via government programs are as bad if not worse than the plantation owners. While one would not propose returning to the days of legal slavery, it seems many politicians, specifically the individual residing in the white house, have no problem enslaving as many as possible to government dependence in order to get their votes. Yez massa ....amazing that is the desire of the first black president. How very disgusting and evil! As horrific as forced slavery is, at least the slaves of the south had the dignity of knowing they were productive. Not even that dignity is afforded to the slaves in 2012.....they are penalized for doing anything of value! Shame on Obama and all who embrace his lies!

We desperately need to resurrect the "Treason" law that was enforceable during World War II. With a Muslim President and rising numbers of Muslims in the USA who adhere to Koran and Sharia law precepts that are not compatible with our Constitution we need to take control once again and stop the take-over of our great country. If Romney-Ryan get elected and the Republicans control congress too we need to get "Treason" back into enforceable law with the caveat that it is not reviewable by the Supreme Court.

We have had 2 previous warnings to "get our house in order," one in 2001, another in 2008. No one in authority has perceived the consequences of our arrogance and defiance which followed on the heels of these events. Current "leadership(?)" is totally clueless regarding the outcome of "thumbing your nose at God." I speak personally and others might take me to task over this; but I stand by my beliefs.

Many disabled people consequently do not pay taxes, due to birth defects, accidents, or some other disabling circumstances, in addition to those affected by job losses resulting from the President's ignorant policies on governing. Suggest Romney amend his statement during the 50 days left before the election. It's his to lose by alienating that electorate lumped in with those that "milk" the system because they can.

Five years ago, when Mark Alexander referred to then-candidate Barack Obama as an "ideological socialist," I thought that was too strident.

Four years ago when Alexander took Obama to task for declaring his intent to "fundamentally transform the United States of America," and claimed Obama was intent on doing just that, I thought that was a stretch.

Three years ago when Alexander outlined Obama's economic strategy to "break the back of free enterprise," I thought for sure any such plan would have already been exposed by conservative think tanks.

Two years ago when Alexander asserted that Obama was "the most dangerous threat to Liberty of any president in the history of our Republic," I thought that was too discordant and disrespectful of the office of president.

Last year, when Alexander wrote about the Left's agenda to completely undermine our Constitution, I thought that could never happen.

This week, in his essay "The ObamaNation Plantation -- Outing Obama's Socialist Political Agenda," Alexander concluded, " The good news is that if Obama's re-election serves as the tipping point for that plunge [into tyranny], there is always the option of restoring Liberty by bullets when ballots fail -- the notion that the ballot box is not the only path to restoring Liberty may make some in our Patriot ranks uncomfortable. But that must be all the more motivation for every one of us to contribute the utmost of our time, talent and treasure toward ensuring an electoral outcome that restores our heritage of God-given Essential Liberty."

Well, I finally figured out, better late than never, that Mark Alexander has been right all along!

Some outstanding observations in today's posts. Great read! That final paragraph in the PP, in re some may be reluctant to go the bullet route. Sure, there will always be those reluctant to set about what must be done. Washington, along with a great many of the Founders, was reluctant. But he did. Took him eight years, with about three percent of the (then) population. There are today a great many not at all reluctant to rise with a rifle. If the federals were not believers of such an event, why did they recently purchase something around a quarter million rounds of ammunition? Begs a question; who is going to (if necessary) use that ammo? The 47%? Not likely. Military? Again not likely. Because much of the military does not agree with the current directions of the current leadership. Remember the Oath reads, and is spoken, "---lawful orders of those appointed over me--" operative word there is lawful. An order to fire on civilians or their families is not likely to be obeyed.. So who? Can only be those of the government that believe in the Obama cure. I suspect that number is far, far less that Mr. Obama believes it to be. The ballot box should get the trick done, but it is the Congress that is important. The very best reason to not permit a third party splinter. We must have a Republican controlled Congress. Both houses! Had there been a Republican majority in the Senate, Clinton would not have had that second term. And would not now be in the shadow in his third term. Carter III, recall, is a Democrat, That is what we must oust with the ballot box. The Democrat Party! Failing that, may require the bullet box.

Romney would sweep this election were he to do ONE thing. Gather together 500 or so primary care practitioners, across this nation, from geriatrics, family medicine and internal medicine that have LEFT THE PROFESSION for resource positions, consultants, insurance company gigs...there are thousands of us that are no longer at your bedside or in the clinic. Our practicing hands have been cut off by this administration. Our days were increasingly taken up on the phone to insurance companies begging a 20 year old with a script, for a CAT Scan instead of an MRI. Begging for permission to do an inpatient admission for our 88 year old lady needing a bilateral total radical mastectomy, instead of at an outpatient surgi-center. . Yes. 88 y/o ladies get their breasts chopped off and go home woozy and depleted four hours later, and wake up that night alone, bandaged like a mummy with JP drains coming out of their carved chest. Broke my heart. Back to school and now in biomedical engineering. People. You need to think about what you want this next four years. This healthcare bill is no good for anyone.

Why absolutely! It's that old, worn out plantation philosophy that says, "Yes, we is free, but we ain't gonna go up Noth. We is gonna stay right here on the place, because Massa will take care of us like he always has." It is easily illustrated right here in my small town. Not a week goes by that an Alltel, AT&T, or Verison vehicle is not easily seen in a local parking lot with a long line stretching out from the free phone handouts. Perhaps you have been in a super market checkout line and had the person in front of you unloading a shopping cart overflowing with stuff you wouldn't or couldn't afford to buy, and paying for it with food stamps. These people may not have food for their children, but they all have a cell phone, and many are driving a BMW, a Lexus, a Mercedes, or something else I can't afford. I applaud Mr. Romney for having the guts to say this, and then not flinching or backing down later. What's true is true, no matter how you try to spin it. One thing these useful idiots haven't learned yet is you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. It is what it is.

Carolyn continued: It is so very very true and we began to drift away shortly after he got elected. "We" meaning the practitioners who had 25 plus years under our belts: seasoned, sensible, very skilled: the mentors to the newbies. Now the newbies are foreign schooled. No American trained MD coming out with 200K in debt is going to be stupid enough to take a primary care position for 115K. That American is now going to take another 200K loan and do four years of a sub specialty and go where the money is: a cutter. Orthopedics; Neurosurgery; Pediatric Cardiovascular....in two years, all of the new residents in training will ALL be from foreign lands and barely speak our language. It's already happening. My last day in primary care happened to be on a July 1st which is the day new residents come on board. At one of the largest top ten hospitals in the nation; in the Midwest; our staff of residents were: four first year residents: one=Iran; one=Turkey; two=Korea. Four second year residents: three=Estonia, one=Iraq. Four third year residents: one=Greece; two=Iran; one=Iraq. Five senior residents: two=Turkey; one=Iran; one=Korea; one=Grenada. Foreign signage in the clinic outnumbered English. Our seniors were upset. Many who had fought in WWII and Korea understandably cannot and will not see an Asian provider. These foreign students are not made to understand our culture: the onus is on US to immerse them and teach them, yet they speak to each other in a language that neither the mentors or the patients can understand. A huge problem is many come from Socialist Medicine and do not understand that half of what they order for the patient will be denied now. It's a Hot Mess and it saddens me so deeply. However, I am still serving patients with my skills by perfecting design for hardware for spinal fusions and new prostheses for hip and knee replacements.

I am so sick & tired of the MSM's idea of journalism I could scream! We all need to realize that Nov. 6th is the most important election of our lives! Obama's not incompetent....he's carrying out his plan for America. He does not want to create jobs, he does not want our country to be a super power, he does not want us to be energy independent, etc. He's a socialist. He believes big government is the answer to everything. He does not believe in the U.S. Constitution, despite the fact he took an oath of office to protect and defend it. He believes in wealth re-distribution. We've been letting this stuff happen....now we need to take action! The time is now!

Our beloved country is on the verge of economic, social & political collapse. This is our last chance to take our country back! We must do absolutely everything in our power to make sure Obama does not win re-election. Then we must insist on destroying Obamacare, cutting taxes, cutting government regulations. We must begin drilling for our own oil. Then we need to have a balanced budget, congressional term limits, lawmakers livng by the same laws as the rest of us. Keep our military strong, stand by our allies, etc. Obama needs to be tried for treason and put into prison, along with his comrades.

As was stated, Romney went a little overboard when he said that all 47% of Americans that don't pay federal income taxes, are automatically going to vote for Obama. It's unfortunate because evident exaggeration like that tends to erode one's credibility.

However, Romney was absolutely correct about the principle, and about the process by which, over decades, congress has used its power to manipulate society via our tax code. America has always been about fairness. So it's sadly ironic that our tax code has been used to actually build in and codify economic unfairness. We lament the evident unfairness of society's classes while our government has willfully created two diametrically opposite classes: taxpayers and nontaxpayers. Like Michael Jackson saying "bad is good", meaning that reversals happen, in America with these two classes, the nontaxpayers have become society's entitled class while taxpayers have become tax slaves.

And by the way, here's one statistic that wasn't quoted above, which illustrates the decades-long advent of this obscene, disgracefully outrageous number of nontaxpayers: Back around 1969, the percentage of Americans not paying federal income tax was at 12%. Now, 43 years later, we're at 47%.

Romney is correct that this statistic is very troubling. It is the road to an entitlement society - the road to socialism.

You know it's only natural to vote for the politicians who promise you more government assistance. This all started when non-land owners were given the right to vote. It was a requirement to have a vested interest in this country to be able to vote. What's wrong with requiring some sort of public or military service in return for public assistance? Socialism doesn't work. Like old Ben's opinion: There's not enough wealth among us to support all the needy, but inspiring them to succeed for them selves will enrich us all.

While there certainly are those who need the help of those of us who can reasonably afford to do so, redistribution is not the answer. As explained in the article history has shown the surest way to destroy a nation is to overburden the tax payer. All private citizens suffer when government drains them dry of their hard earned money. Obama's mentor George Soros has said on TV before the way to bend the world into everyone being equal is through breaking the US monetary system. Obama is well on his day to doing that through redistribution and welfare.

Vote out obongo and all his socialist/comunist cohorts. Hairy Reed, Nancy the Pelosi, the Clintons (both of them) every other POS damocrap in Washington. Then cut off all entitlements, welfare, food stamps, whatever after six months. They have that long to get a job and join the tax paying force. If after 6 months they refuse then let them eat whatever they can find in the garbage. I for one am tired of supporting their lazy, porch sitting asses.

Whether it's outright socio-communism as we see in the Obama regime of 'Reformation' or the slightly slower death of cronyism (as opposed to righteous capitalism), are path is pretty much set. Sorry to be the bearer of doom, gloom and FACT! However, this is the choice we have now - strong socialist-communist push or a moderately weak neo-con. I'll still have to vote Mitt, while sharing with others, educating on First Principles and pushing for true, BOTTOM-UP grassroots campaigning, which is a bit late in the game.

I have posted a form of Tax Reform that also enables those with income under the Median Household Income to deposit up to their entire Taxable Income into a Tax Deferred Savings Account which they can then use during their lifetimes for Healthcare, Education and later, Retirement income. They would thus still not pay income tax - up front; the difference is that they would pay a Flat Tax on those Savings when they withdrew them, including on the Gains int those accounts. Sound better than what we do now? See: http://reformingtaxesentitlements.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/government-refo/

Obviously the Romney campaign needs to get in touch with the grassroots perspective in The Patriot Post if they are going to win this election. Mark Alexander prescribed exactly what Romney, et al., should be shouting from the mountaintops, in response to Romney's so-called "gaffe" about government dependence. Alexander wrote: Though Romney's assertion that most Obama supporters are government dependents has generated a flood of faux-outrage on the Left, their underlying indignation is more accurately rooted in the fact that Romney did not declare that ALL Americans are dependent on government. That is precisely what Obama himself recently proclaimed in his now-infamous assertion, "You didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." Somebody get this in front of Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Allen West or Rand Paul!

"I found a short video to back up what you were saying about Romney's 47% comment. The guy sure does make a lot of nonsensical statements. Watch to the end to see what he should (and could) have said, but now it is too late to take back his stupidity."

Mr. Romney hit it right on the head. There are a multitude of people who are on the "dole" and are content to stay there (beats working). He cannot change their minds about whether to work and compete for a place at the table of life or to vote for someone who will keep them in the poverty they enjoy and are comfortable with, he needs to sway the good people who are simply uninformed and undecided.

Each year after filing your single or joint federal tax return, the IRS shall issue a credit card to the taxpayer that will allow one vote for each $1,000 in federal taxes paid, rounded down to the next lower $1,000 amount. People filing jointly can have two cards, each with 1/2 of the votes assigned to it. A photo ID must be presented when using the card. Leave the rules regarding state elections to the individual states, but federal elections must be voted upon by legal, federal taxpaying U.S. citizens.

1) What Obama blames George Bush for he commits at a worse level - we were done with the recession instead now we are 110% debt to GDP at 90% to GDP all economists agree - crisis.

2) Any politician who tells the truth will be slaughtered and thrown to the wolves - Romney stated the truth but society does not want to hear it

3) You must balance the budget - Obama has not had a budget for three years and there is actually a debate about re-electing him? It is because our people operate the same way - you now are in a third generation of welfare, it is becoming a habit

4) When the people realize they can vote themselves benefits and a pay-raise democracy fails and a dictatorship moves into power. If Obama is re-elected there will not be an election in 2016 - marshall law will be implemented.

5) Republicans and Democrats have given the President power that is beyond responsibility: the armed forces can now be used against its own citizens, invasion into your home can happen without a warrant and peaceful demonstration "freedom of speech" has now become a government crime.

6) Any good business knows the answer: you balance the budget, cut 5% every year for the next five years including the salaries and benefits of Congress and you will be out of this mess

7) Side note on Medicare: You cannot pay 100% of medical care for people it is fiscally impossible - a patient must have to pay for something at some level in order to make sound decisions. Grandma falls and 27 tests must be ordered to cover the legal liability of all the doctors and the tax payers cover the bill - that is insanity.

8) People earning over $250,000 pay 63% of all the taxes but make-up only 5% of the population - the wealthy are not the problem. When the tide rises all boats will float but they CANNOT be equal in size - you create a billionaire and you have created a 1000 millionaires, which creates 10,000 - $250,000 earners which creates 100,000 upper mid-class - the only way to have a strong middle class is to increase the number of billionaires and millionaires created - they are not created by LUCK - it is HARD WORK. Now you know the problem - hard work!

Coach P, Touche', especially 4 and 7. But I would add #9: Everyone should pay some tax, even if it is $ 0.50 deducted from a government entitlement subsidy. Many have no clue about the importance personal responsibility. As you say, when >50% have learned that someone else will guarantee all their basic worldly needs, then our controlled capitolistic democratic republic is a failure, and our fear of bullets and totalitarian control will surely replace ballots.

Did you know about the change in the Social Security numbering assignment which is no longer by state. Did you know about the New Green Cards? I work for the county welfare dept and we were notified last year that the Social Security Admin would no longer be assigning numbers by state. This was so that a number could no longer be a way to identify where a person was born. About the same time we got flyers about how to identify the new "green cards". It has a hologram of Obama. I knew for sure then that he planned to stay in "office" as dictator rather than president. It was confirmation that "This" was going to be a permanent situation since most "green cards" are issued for at least 10 years. Also we have NEVER had anything resembling a president on any official ID documents. Only countries with dictators have the pictures of the Dictator on their ID cards.

Your article and Mitt Romney's comment that imply 47% do not pay taxes is a gross distortion of the facts that are easily researched. It reflects poorly on him as a potential leader of our country that he is either so sadly misinformed or thinks nothing of distorting the truth to his political benefit to gain donations. I believe that is called prostitution. Additionally, there seems to be no mention of the thousands of very well to do people and businesses that pay no taxes either. The 47% holds. However, it is flexable (fluid). Some of that 47% are folk who are there not of their choosing or short comings. You subtract the lowly paid people (military and retires), but readily add those who could do but don't. You still get that percentage, and it must be dealt with, if we are to mend our debt and our economy.

R/R need to tell it as it is: Sure the ultra-wealthy buy lots of STUFF, made, transported, bought and sold, middle-managed, and/or maintained by the "99%" who in turn pay taxes on their income , supplying extra $ Trillions to the tax base. "Give 'em a fish and feed 'em for a day; teach 'em to fish and feed 'em for a lifetime." The American Way is not a government job, it is the private sector that makes us strong. The wealthy pay a smaller % in tax due to a low capitol gains tax of 15% because most aren't hourly wage earners and need an incentive to invest in the USA. Raise it and we will see $Trillions more of US $ going abroad to markets with a better deal. Health Care: stop defensive medicine with tort reform including specific medical courts. Change the way we practice medicine. $$$$$Billions waisted on futile therapies and end of life care we know won't work, but have med/mal fears in changing. Develope federal catestrophic insurance pools to make sure no American goes bankrupt due to illness. Result: Medicare, Medicaid,SS,private health insurance saved. Foreign Policy: a strong leader backed by a strong adequately sized and funded military is our foremost insurance of the contination of our way of life. Energy: when will we learn that we can be energy independent and efficient in almost no time? It makes no sense to arm our enemies with oil money we could roll into our own economy AND TAX BASE. Economy 101 = Common Sense. We need to quickly resurrect Ben Franklin or elect a very successful BUSINESSMAN to lead us. Come on folks, this ain't rocket science.

What everyone seems to ignore is that Romney was talking to potential donors about his possibility of election and how he was going about it - what were the expectations and who was he targeting? He may have misspoke about the number who are dedicated Democrats and do not pay taxes on what they collect from government.

When I heard the comment, I did not think he was referring to those like myself on Social Security (which is really a 'refund' of contributions or compulsory taxes paid into the fund) or others who receive some form of government check in return for prior contributions. He was talking about those who live off the dole and depend upon it as a way of life.

That comment has played into Obama's hand, to be sure, but that is only because it was taken out of context and fitted to their purposes. If it says anything at all, it tells us that Romney is a straightforward man with those who support him and he understands how this game of politics shapes up. Romney is not without compassion or caring or understanding. During that illicit recording session, he was simply unguarded in his remarks with 'trusted' contributors and the violation of privacy was the real act of shame.

From context it seems clear to me that the candidate was including various groups among the total forty seven percent of voters who would not vote for him under any circutstances. He listed various of those circumstances and that list was ignored in favor of the more outrageous pronouncement the MSM attributed to him. They lie in support of their candidate, it's as simple as that, and when we conservatives grant them legitimacy by taking their allegations seriously we harm our own cause. Stop it.
