It is moved progressivley left ever since, up to and including the worst Socialist leftwing admin ever - Bush Lite.

Your asinine vote for Gary Johnson is merely another vote for treasonous Communism under Oblunder. Ovomit sickled at the teat of Frank Marshall Davis for eight years learning Communist tactics thanks to Oblunder's Communist grandfather who introduced the two. You're both a thoughtless fool and a traitorous idiot to have wasted your vote on someone who has no chance at all of winning, and to have tried to curse our nation with 4 years of Ovomit. Why are people like you so careless and thoughtless? Don't you realize that Oblunder will continue to load the Supreme Court with leftist traitors? Look at the two traitors to our Constitution that he's already installed. Kagan refused to recuse herself from the Obamacare case even though she was obviously and openly biased. Sotomayor had made numerous racist comments and rulings in her time on the appeals court. If you have children, you deserve their hate, because you may well have cursed them to a life of slavery to the state. Are you really so clueless as to believe that Oblunder will stop spending when he realizes that even if he took every cent from every millionaire, it wouldn't even make a dent in his interest payments, let alone his deficit? You're a fool and a traitor. Your acts may result in your children and grandchildren being forced to work just to pay 50 or 60% federal income tax to support the ever-growing federal government, which will continue to eat away at their personal liberties and freedom.

Obama faces stiff task to blunt Gary Johnson's challenge in Colorado

Barack Obama is due to campaign in Boulder, Colorado on Thursday night to fire up this liberal bastion and try to snuff out a libertarian challenge which threatens to siphon crucial votes.

The president hopes to shore up support in the swing state and neutralise Gary Johnson, who is running for president on the Libertarian party ticket, just days ago after the former New Mexico governor electrified students at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

A vote for any 3rd party candidate will make you feel good but it will effectively be a vote for Obama. The VERY small percentage of overall votes going to those 3rd parties could make the difference, at the very least, of helping Romney win and stop the slide to total dependence, and at best would help give the right a clear mandate. So basically, you'll be wasting your vote... why not make it count for something other than a frustrated lashback?

Maybe all those posting here for a third party candidate are right thinking in the basics of wanting to completely turn around our gubmint. I haven't studied the others and most likely a lot of us haven't either. HOWEVER-- no one has given the very best argument for voting for Romney so I will. The main issue here is TIMING.

The population must evolve in their thinking. The tide is turning back very slowly, and for some, it is way too slowly. I can understand the frustration but I cannot see the lack of patience as being beneficial. The leviathan that we have today simply CANNOT be destroyed or remade by any one man in ANY office. This is going to take an informed electorate who make their feelings known from the local up to the federal level. We must elect State legislatures and governors who insist on 10th amendment adherence; to get there we need pressure from the towns, cities, and counties. Then we need to send these good people to the U.S. Congress. From all of these people, committed to essential liberty, we need to select a candidate for President. The rebuilding of this country under the Supreme Law of the Land requires trickle up government. We simply do not have a strong base upon which to build. Yes, we have some really decent liberty loving people in office but certainly not near enough to stem the tide or even more so challenge the bureaucracies now in place. The task before us is a monumental one starting with educating our young in civics, American history, and the Constitution. That will be a huge task in itself. I fear those who are the entitlement generation of today will merely have to die off as most are ignorant, corrupted, or simply brainwashed--- beyond rescue and through no real fault of their own. So, the timing is wrong for a third party candidate no matter how right thinking he or she may be. Romney cannot "do it all" but he can be the start of something good. Is he perfect? No, but is right for our time? ABSOLUTELY! The alternative is taking us further down the rathole and because the timing is wrong, a vote for a third party candidate is either a waste of your vote or a de facto vote for Olahblah. What third party adherents do is akin to wanting to put the roof on the house before the foundation is set-- it simply cannot work. I won't live long enough to see the dramatic change but I will go to my grave knowing I did my part to return this country to what it once was. I will vote foe Romney.

Hailey in California
Friday, November 2, 2012 at 1:32 PM

Cannot agree enough! I'm a 26 year old mother and wife, living alongside my peers in an "entitlement" generation. Growing up and attending public school in Hawaii, I was brainwashed (to an extent) of how "big government was good". I was brainwashed to be entitled. It got worse at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I'm very thankful that I'm able to think "outside of the box" and realize that big government will not work. I work hard for my family, and I am entitled to nothing but freewill and liberty! And while I believe that a 3rd party candidate may be a better choice, I agree that now is not the time. I will be voting for Romney, as I want my vote to count towards someone that will slow the race to a cliff, rather than one (Obama) that continues to push the throttle full force. I want my country to thrive and survive, and I believe that voting for a 3rd party is throwing away my vote because there simply are not enough people that are able to think outside of the box! Vote Romeny, or you will (intentionally or unintentionally) be voting Obama. Very simple.

Both Rand and Ron Paul have publicly endorsed Romney/Ryan. Ross Perot has publicly endorsed Romney/Ryan. Your attempt to make some type of a point with your vote for a third party will not only make zero difference for whatever cause you're supporting, but it will quite possibly help re-elect the most liberal president in American history. In 50 years, no one will care about the 0.3% vote share that some guy named Gary Johnson got. It's not a wasted vote. It's a vote against the very cause for which you're supposedly fighting.

In response to your assertion that seniors are "expressing grief for the state of affairs they're leaving behind," may it be observed that those same seniors elected representatives who altered the way social security benefits were calculated, tying them to wages rather than inflation, and giving themselves a nice raise in their dotage, to be paid for by those of us who remain in the workforce. So, perhaps it is a dearth of patriotism that they lament amongst their progeny, but perhaps some among those progeny perceive a certain lack of patriotism on the part of that lionized prior generation, who after all should take responsibility for all of the affairs they left us, including the nearly-bankrupt safety net which they expect us to fund in full,

If you do not clear your concience with your friend or family member and heal all old wounds and explode into that glory of relief and clelbration, you will never have another chance. Why does half of the people in the the US still say they would vote for Obama at this late date? Polls now show that the candidates are virtually tied. Here is my thought. For decades now, our public school system has been failing. My limited reserach leads me to conclude that most of the younger generations have been "dumbed down" by the system. They have limited critical and analytical thinking skills, and know very little about the founding of our Country, our values, our Consitution, etc. I teach college, and I have too many students that don't even know how to simple arithemetic. I asked my grand daughter (senior in High School) about her US History course and what they had taught her about the founding principles of the company and the fight for freedom. She said, "Very little." So, we have a very large group of people out there who are evaluating Barak Obama on his "likeability factor". Below that, they have no idea of what is doing, what he has done and the prospects for what he will do. They just can't muster a good thought for process for voting.

While I am certainly concerned about the outcome of the coming election, I am even more concerned about the future. What happens the next time a Democrat is elected? It will eventually happen. I wonder about the pendulum swings back and forth. I wonder why an acquaintance of mine is writing in "Ron Paul" on Tuesday, thereby wasting his vote. I have become increasingly concerned over the last couple of years about politics in general and the overall direction of the great Republic. I have also purchased a sidearm and a longarm and am becoming quite proficient in their use.

If Barak Obama is reelected, then someone in Congress should grow a pair and immediately level impeachment charges. There is plenty of ammunition from the response (or lack thereof) in Libya to the Executive Orders that outright defy the written law. Short of that, I will be prepared for another revolution which may be the last hope that we have to truly restore our Constitutional Republic.

The usual prattle that freely flows from the mouths of Obama/Biden about the magic of government and the inequity and incompetence of unfettered capitalism simply echoes their Party's generalized talking points. That's not a surprise.

The shock is that roughly half of the electorate buy into it.

If you think that there is no real difference in these two candidates consider the Kagan and Sotomayor appointments to the Supreme Court. If you would like these appointments, vote Obama. If you would like to see conservative Justices in our court, vote Romney. This election is a lot larger than just the two candidates with a legacy that lasts for a very long time.

William, You are right, but it's not that simple. People also need to see the executive orders Obama has implemented for his use. He now has his chosen few in the Court, and because of his appointments, our system of checks and balances is really becoming very skewed. The addition of another liberal judge can be catastrophic to all of us.

I am in total agreement that the WWII generation of Americans are truly the greatest generation. My Dad passed five years ago and the selfless and compassionate legacy he left behind still makes me choke up. My Mom, God Bless Her, is 94 and is quite sharp for her age. She listens and pays attention to what she hears and sees and she, too, is gravely concerned at the direction this country is heading. Hopefully there are others like me who were raised with the same values and character as our parents and we will make a difference in getting this country back in gear. This socialistic agenda Obama is implementing into our daily lives is a tragedy. Obama has lied his way through office with the help of the mainstream media and it's up to us to put a stop to this "reign of terror". All people have to do is go to a legislative site and check the executive orders he has implemented to see what he's planning for the next four! We can't allow this to happen. He has superseded Congress to implement the potential for these executive orders, and thereby, supersedes our rights as American Citizens. This is too important to ignore. Our parents fought for the American Dream and it's up to us to continue fighting for our kids as well!

Mr. Alexander, I enjoy your thoughts and expressions, but there has been a trend in them recently to wheedle a bit because Mr. Romney hasn't adhered to your own specific debate game plan often enough. You make frequent mention of your disappointment over this. It begins to smell of whining, frnakly. As to Romney v. Obama, in my opinion, and despite my own wishes for a more conservative direction by the Republican ticket, anyone who wastes a vote on a candidate who cannot possibly win is committing an act of selfishness, if not treason. Having seen and experienced the exact same decline in Britain, and having escaped at age eighteen when I emmigrated alone to avoid the unemployment that was imminent in the mid-sixties, I am appalled when I see free-born Americans embrace the same ideology that sank the UK. Socialism is the most insidious and dangerous threat to liberty. In it's more overt forms, fasciosm and comunism, it is more obviuous and therefore easy to recognize. The more passive and covert form we see throughout the modern world is harder to define as an imminent threat. IT takes a more eduated mind to see it's pitfalls and hidden traps. Sadly, by the time they are obvious, they also deeply embedded into the threads of the culture. Witness the Europeans, Canadians, Australians and others who have succumbed to this disease. Fearful of "losing their benefits" they cling to the government and defend the system, unaware of the cost in liberty. They prefer to be well fed serfs than self determined free people. This is ourt last chance to thwart the ambitions of the global socialists and define the barrier between serfdom and liberty. If we fail now, liberty is lost for another two hundred years until the cycle comes around again. By then, who will remember what liberty looked like?

Many have stated that this election is the most important since …… mainly sighting the radical difference in direction the two sides are taking. I would contend that the real significance of this election is a check point on the character of the American Citizen. For over 4 centuries (as colonies and states) the American has been characterized as hard working, diligent, determined, innovative, ingenious, independent and dedicated to freedom. Some politicians believe that times have changed, and that Americans in general no longer have that character and now want to clock in at 9, clock out at 5 and put in minimal effort, willing to surrender their freedom to a government that will take care of them. It was clear from the first presidential debate that one candidate, though short on specifics of how to get the economy back on track was counting on the traditional character of the American people to make it happen. The other candidate clear thinks that a big, powerful, invasive government is the only solution because the American people are no longer hard working, diligent, determined, innovative, ingenious, independent and dedicated to freedom.

the differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are miniscule on virtually every salient issue. They both supported TARP; they both supported Obama’s economic stimulus package; they both supported so-called assault weapons bans and other gun control measures; Obama has an “F” rating from Gun Owners of America, while Romney has a “D-” rating from GOA; neither man supports a balanced budget; neither man opposes foreign aid; they both supported the bailout of the auto industry; they both have a track record of being big spenders; they both fully support the Federal Reserve; they both oppose a full audit of the Fed; they are both supporters of universal health care; both men are showered with campaign contributions from Wall Street; neither of them wants to eliminate the IRS or the direct income tax; both men are on record as saying the TSA is doing a “great job”; they both supported the NDAA, including the indefinite detention of American citizens without due process of law; they both supported the renewal of the Patriot Act; they both believe that the President has “executive power” to assassinate and kill; both support the “free trade” agenda of the global elite; they are both soft on illegal immigration; they both support NAFTA and CAFTA; they both have a history of appointing liberal judges; they both believe the President has the authority to take the nation to war without the approval of Congress; and neither of them has any qualms about running up more public debt to the already gargantuan debt of 16 trillion dollars.

Judge Andrew Napolitano nailed it when he said, “Barack Obama loves Big Labor; Mitt Romney loves Big Business; but they both love Big Government.”

At 82, I am as worried about the future of this nation as is your father. If Obama is reelected, we stand only the slimmest of chances that America will ever again be a free land. Socialism is anything but free; our children and all our descendants will be slaves to the government. This must not be allowed to happen -- but my knowing that is no help. I pray that our nation will be saved and will return to its original status as a nation; that our descendants will be free to worship -- that, I believe, is threatened now, along with all our other freedoms. Freedom of speech, once lost, will take all the other freedoms with it.

Mark Alexander, You are once more absolutely correct in your comments. This nation, in certain fact, stands at the threshold of making quite literally a decisive choice in the 2012 presidential election which extends far beyond individual candidates for office. Those among us who would sacrifice any portion of our Liberty and Freedom would therefore at the same time embrace tyranny and national failure of this republic whether wittingly or, I would surmise, quite ignorantly. No observant student of our long history could help but recognize the critical and sure dangers of tyrannical statism and its "from the top down" form of ruling as opposed to the absolute sovereignty of We the People who elect to govern us only those whose unswerving allegiance is to uphold the Constitution which embodies the values and realities as stated in our Declaration of Independence. To "rule" and to "govern" are two very different conceptual constructs. Americans know instinctively the difference between the two and must vote in this election in such manner so as to uphold our hard won Liberty and Freedom. That we have a perfect living example of what we face by having a President who wishes to blur or even obliterate the distinction between ruling and governing must be reason enough to put a stop to the already revealed use of rule by men as opposed to governance by laws. Liberty and Freedom can be lost in a mere short period of time if our people do not once again demand by their enlightened self-interests that this nation shall remain free and independent with Liberty and Justice for all as the only valid standards by which we judge all actions taken by those in authority.

Agree, en toto with today's comments! Though barely, I am of that group you describe as "The Greatest Generation". We did not know, until much later, that such a title would occur. Fifteen million men and women of the United States of America, once again pulled the European chestnuts from of the fire . At the same time it was necessary to reduce the boiling rice pot of Asia. We did it because the Republic coalesced! At that time there was a backup force of about thirty people, military and civilian, to keep one rifle on the battle line Every aspect of support was created and provided. Blinded, all the while by the events at hand, to the directions of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The Republic has been rotted from the inside, with one or two exceptions, since then to now and the successor to FDR, Barack Hussein Obama , Jr.
Today's piece is absolutely accurate as to the consequence of this electorate notarizing the death warrant of the Republic. In that if BHO, Jr is re-seated the electorate will have chosen his path and he will "fundamentally change (end) the Republic of America. Semper Fi!

Socialism is Slavery . We had a group of people in America in the past that were given free health care, free living quarters, free food, free clothing and their job was provided for them. They lived in the height of security with all there basic needs in life provide to them. This group of people had a name they were called by. That name was SLAVE.

The Republican Party was founded on doing away with the institution of slavery and living up to the principle in the Declaration of Independence that “all men are created equal”. The Democrat Party divided our country and went to war to preserve the institution of slavery. After they lost the Civil War the Democrat party instituted the KKK as their terrorist wing to continue to fight the advance of freedom for the former slaves. That’s right every single member of the KKK was a Democrat.

For the next hundred years the Democrat Party and their terrorist wing the KKK fought tooth and nail to stop the advance of freedom. During the Civil Rights battles of the 50s and 60s every Governor, every Mayor, every Police Chief and every local Sherriff that turned the fire hoses on, turned the dogs lose on and orders the Billy clubs on the Civil Rights marchers was a Democrat. A higher percentage of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 than Democrats. Before 1960 every elected Black official in this Country was elected as a Republican.

After losing all the battles to make all Americans free and equal the Democrat Party started a slow incremental process of selling Socialism to America and particularly the Black community. It has taken them 50 years of gradually passing one government give away program after another, until now they have most of the Black community and a large group of Hispanics and Whites totally dependent on the Government the same way the former slaves where dependent on their slave masters. When the government provides your health care, your living quarters, your food, your clothes and provides you with a government job or a make work job funded by stimulus money; then they control you and you have become their SLAVE.

The only true freedom is economic freedom!

VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT – VOTE FOR SLAVERY VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN – VOTE FOR LIBERTY

In order to get our nation back it is now neccesary to hold a Constitutional Convention to get back our original Constsitution, make Senators electable by the whole nation instead of working for just one state, make all Federal and State representatives elected for one six year term and then they are out forever. To continue with such an administration that would deliver up its own citizens to death, bring upon them economic destruction, and scheme to devoid them of their rights, freedoms, and liberties, is to totally turn our backs on what was so valiantly and heroically fought for by our present military and our past veterans and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice...The Land of the FREE and the Home of the BRAVE; The United States of America!

Every election, all you hear is economy, economy, economy. It ain't the economy, folks. I get tears in my eyes when I read about the American Revolution, the Minutemen, the Founding Fathers, etc., and see what has happened to this country. There's a phrase I don't hear anymore. "It's a free country." The two - party system has led to the destruction of this country. Actually, there should be no political parties. When political parties start maneuvering for control, there's one thing that loses control - the Constitution. And when the people are too stupid to see what's going on, freedom goes out the window. People make fun of Ron Paul, but there's one thing about him - everything he does is in line with the Constitution. People have to be re-educated as to what the Constitution is and what a Constitutional Republic is. Obama is the greatest threat to the Constitution we have ever had in the White House. If he is re-elected, it's the end of the United States of America. Forget about the economy. Let's get our freedom back, even if we have to come out from behind the trees to do it.

I believe that never in the history of our country has it been more important to vote. The future of our Republic hangs in the balance. Psalm 12:8 comes to mind everytime I watch the news or read the news on Patriot Post or the other conservative sites that I frequent. Psalm 12:8 says, "The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted." Surely we have elevated some vile men and women to the highest offices in the land. It is of utmost importance that we try to remedy this situation by voting these vile people out of office. We desperately need those in office that first of all believe in the sanctity of life from conception to the grave. Without this fundamental belief, we as a society are in deep trouble. We know where the present Administration stands on this subject and it is past time to send them packing.

Some of these comments are unbelievable. Refusing to vote for Romney over Obama because you think they are interchangeable. Yes, Romney is not as conservative or libertarian as you might like. I can see that. The man is electable - and Gary Johnson and Ron Paul are not. You are like starving people who won't eat because the food isn't to your liking. You'd rather see the whole country starve - which is what will happen if Obama finishes transforming this country to his taste.

I helped elect Clinton the first time by going 3rd party for Ross Perot. Never again. Romney does believe in the Constitution, even if he does have a moderate view of it. It's simply in Obama's way - as he has said explicitly more than once.

Should the Republicans sweep (retain the House, takeover the Senate and White House), they will face a severe test. Will they have the will to begin the rollback of the overgrown Federal government? Or will they make the same mistake they did in 2001-2002, and increase the size of the monster? If they pass the test, hundreds of businesses dependent on a massive federal government will be ruined. If they fail the test, millions of Americans will be impoverished, the liberty of the nation will continue to be threatened, and the reputation of the Republican Party will be destroyed.

"the declaratory charter of our rights, and the rights of man." indeed! Jefferson has always been my favorite of the founding fathers, he knew the hearts of men. I believe Franklin, Madison and the rest were keenly aware of the temptation that could bring down this experiment of a democratic republic, but they expected the free press to keep the politicians in line. Little did they conceive that the press would make alliances within one party.

A nation's "tipping point" is almost never perceived until after the fall. Fortunately, we have people like your father and millions like him, who have an engrained wisdom passed down from our Founders. That wisdom will prevail not because Americans are somehow to be spared the ravages of a terrible economy or deadly threats from foreign tyrannies. Rather, we have a heritage of ferociously defending our freedom and we will never give in to the marxist fools. It's true, we have a lot of people in this country who have temporarily given up on the idea of self reliance and personal responsibility. But, show them a path to prosperity and a lot of this "government will take care of me" attitude will go by the wayside. There are national leaders with a vision of creating prosperity through work and diligence. They must not give up in encouraging the despirited towards a better path. The liberals and their national media are propagandists for failure because bad news "sells". Our job is to point out that what they're selling is snake oil. Keep up the great job of pointing that out.

There are only two issues congress should be addressing in the foreseeable future: Protecting our homeland and reducing the debt. Everything else is second order business. Let congress know that there can be no compromise on taxation. Every marginal penny spent must come from corresponding cuts to any (gasp) government budgets other than homeland security. When I say "homeland security", I mean bring the troops home and deploy them all to protect our borders. Homeland Security - the department - is a complete boondoggle and should be immediately shut down. Aid to other countries? We have a $16 Trillion debt and we're borrowing money to send it to Pakistan. Dept. of Education? We're now spending more than anyone in the world on education and we're ranked about 40th overall. Dept of Energy? What a joke. We're nowhere on energy independence and beholden to the Arab states to a greater degree than ever. FDA? We've got Monsanto's (ex) litigation specialist in charge of our food safety! USDA? We're poisoning our crops with GMO for the sake of "feeding the world" while paying farmers not to plant! Wake up! We are on an unsustainable spending binge that ends in oblivion. Do you really think Romney is going to change any of that? Even Romney says he won't. We need a congress that is willing to focus all of their effort on the two issues that threaten to bring this country down... and it has to happen beginning with this election. Fight if you must over Obama vs Romney, but neither of these sock-dolls will have much influence on congress and it's there that all the heavy lifting needs to occur. Any member of congress who introduces a spending bill not offset by a larger budget decrease must be sacked immediately. Please join me in making it so.

Many, many people have said how much they despise Obama and his cohorts in crime. I have also heard that Obama could not win a fair election as many realize his plans to collapse America. Further rumors say that Obama will win due to rigged voting machines which are serviced by unions, dead people rising to vote, illegals and multiple votes from one person; as well as various and sundry fraudulent tactics to "win." Knowing this and assuming these statements are true, we need to demand that each vote be counted and recounted for validity even though it might take weeks to do so. It sounds like there will be a lot of fraud to wade through to get at the truth of each vote. Franklin

If the useful idiots of the left and the mindless, Kardashian-loving morons of this generation win this election there is but one course, and it will not. E pretty.
