Funny you should mention the FEMA Corps or Corpse as the president would say. I just read about their September 2012 graduation yesterday. Their main purpose is "solely devoted to disaster preparedness, response, and recovery". Has anyone heard whether or not these 18-24 year olds have been helping on the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy? I haven't. Yet that's their whole purpose to exist ... or is it?

Gilbert, I'm sad to say I forwarded a complete article on the Homeland Security Militia's first graduating class to Michele Malkin and never got a reply. I agree with you, this is a scary move. It is right in line with obama's vision prior to the 2008 election in which he talked about a national police force of sorts. I hope the Post will thoroughly investigate this militia so obama's motives can be held up to the light.

Tim, Your point is abundantly clear. If you've ever seen any film footage of the ocupation of France during WWII you'd notice that in the early days of the Resistance Movement the French were armed with wine bottles of gasoline, rocks, and anything else they could lay their hands on, until they could capture a Geman Mauser or Schmeiser. England sent out a plea as well for guns from the United States which we responded to in fine style. We have learned from this that when you need a gun, it's too late to build one.

No one should be surprised about the upcoming UN vote to authorized the removal of American citizens gus. This has been coming for a long time. Fast and Furious was nothing more than a plan hatched by Hillary (card carrying communist)Clinton to use it to point out the 'reason' to take guns away from citizens of this country. Brian Terry ended up loosing his life and it exposed the government's plan. Until people in this country stand up and take a stand, the elected in DC will continue to erode ALL of our liberties and rights given to us by the Constitution. As long as Americans remain silent the treasonous acts being committed by those in power, we can expect soon the Constitution of the United States to be 'declared' null and void.

To quote some of our Founding Fathers;
Thomas Jefferson; “When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
George Mason: "To disarm the people [is] the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
Richard Henry Lee: "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
James Madison: Americans have "the advantage of being armed" -- unlike the citizens of other countries where "the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

Susan, I respectfully suggest that you forget the "maybe" and change this year to "today, if not sooner". Also, take a few like-minded friends with you and encourage them to do the same. If the headlines continued to report a giant increase in the number of background checks and CWP's issued, we might avoid a lot of bloodshed. As Ronald Reagan put it, negotiate from a position of strength. Let the left half abhor guns; but let's make sure all available patriots are armed to the teeth! Hopefully, then, no one would dare try to take our rights away, and if, sadly, they did, it would be swiftly over.

From both countries I have memories of enforcement teams kicking down doors and dragging people away for the sin of -GASP! - not having registered their guns for later confiscation. In the old statutes and laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, there is still a requirement for all men to carry their rifles to church on Sunday. Another law states that any man entering the Boston Commons must carry a shotgun. These laws have never been removed from the books despite the fact that Massachusetts is nearly as anti-gun as California! I firmly believe that citizens should be taught the proper use of firearms and be allowed to carry them at will.

I have given many talks defending the Second Amendment. Think about the legal power of "precedent." Many cases are decided because of "precedent." If the Second Amendment falls, that sets a "precedent" to eliminate any other Amendment that might be standing in the way. Whether you are pro- or anti-gun, you should be ready to protect your rights by defending the Second Amendment.

Indeed, guns do have 2nd amendment protection and in my view, one of the essential laws on the books. Yes, to protect ourselves from those who would injure us. As well, and as outlined by our Constitutional framers, the right to bear arms primary function is to protect ourselves against our Government. At no time in history has this become so prophetic.

Strive to break down the 'fear' of firearms. They are tools that can be very dangerous if not handled properly. Being a Military Retiree and having friends in the law enforcement community, I have a question? Who is going to pick up these weapons? Most Military and LEOs have personal weapons. If it is Dept of Homeland Security or DOJ, they do not have enough to go around. As far as NICS keeping track of who buys what, according to the people I buy guns from, NICS and TN only keep track that a gun was purchased. If someone can give me more detail on NICS I would greatly appreciate it. A TBI friend used to work the desk where they did the check to make sure purchasor was legal. Never asked what type of gun.

There's a story out there that the Department of Homeland Security has purchased literally billions of rounds of hollow-point ammunition (which is illegal for combat use under the Geneva Convention). NICS is required by law to destroy the background check records after either 30 or 90 days. (I forget which) Gun store owners are required to keep sales records for 7 years. If a gun store closes they are required to turn over those records to the BATFE. My question has always been; if the military or local LEO's are instructed to confiscate citizen's firearms will they do it or defy their orders?

It is encouraging to see the gun culture's response to the re-election of the Kenyan communist. My only fear is that this recently armed members of our society will shrink from their duty to the Republic if and when the day comes that they are called upon to perform it.
The gun culture, and the citizenry generally, needs their own version of Rosa Parks. Someone who will adopt the stance of "this far and no further" when one of the Traitor-in-Chief's brown shirts (the soon to be activated civilian "police" force of equal size and capability as that of the Army) is standing at your doorstep and demanding the surrender of your firearms. The tactic the left will use to disarm us will be the same as that used for their previous intrusions into our liberty - the subtle morphing of terms, the marginalization of gun owners, legislation restricting and taxing ammunition to make it virtually unobtainable (which is NOT covered by the second amendment). The result will be "Sure, you can OWN guns. You just can't USE them." The 2nd amendment does say we can "bear" arms. It does not say specifically that we may "shoot" them. Incidentally, exactly how are we defining the word "arms"?? Guns? Tanks? Hand grenades? What is an "arm"? Sounds silly, however, I think it isn't quite as dumb a question as it sounds. The devil is in the details (or in the words as in this case).

Obama and his minions know that abridging the Second Amendment and outlawing gun ownership is really not doable now or in the forseeable future. But I do think they are about to change the emphasis of their attack from gun ownership to that necessary ingedient called ammunition. A person can own 10-20 guns, but if it impossible to get ammunition for them, what good are they? And, I daresay, ammunition is not part of the Second Amendment!

I'd be willing to bet, given the right case (e.g., Chicago's new gun & ammo tax) sent to SCOTUS b/4 obummer gets to put new members on it, could see a ruling which set precedent of ammo being part of 2A.
That being said, all patriots should be encouraged to write all constitutional defenders still on SCOTUS to hang in there till the bum is gone, and praying that we can get a conservative POTUS elected instead.

I have often wondered if the posters or stickers with the "Protected by 2nd Amendment" or a similar message are a good idea overall. Yes, they would probably make a potential burglar hesitate if he/she (don't want to be sexist here) was thinking of breaking in at night. However, if there was a way to determine that no one was home it might also be an advertisement to come in and steal the weapons. Perhaps it is just my paranoid thinking.....

Just one question.....does anyone believe that the gun industry has used fear-based marketing (Obama is coming for your guns!) to manipulate the conservative market to increase their sales!
Wasn't Obama coming for our guns 4 years ago? 4 years later; no significant change in gun control laws and no real efforts to do so. Where I live, we have more gun freedom, with right to carry permits.
I am a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. However, I am not going to let that belief in the Constitution leave me susceptible to the gun industry's exploitation for profit. We are being played by the industry and its media outlets.

wjm....I think you missed my point. ...and don't worry about me, I have plenty of guns and in no immediate peril.
Maybe I should clarify.
People incapable of critical or free thought; those unwilling to use logic or recognize hype and ignore facts are destined to be manipulated and exploited. Can you not even consider the possibility that that the gun industry is using the re-election of Obama as the means to stir up fear and increase sales/profits?
Again, wasn't he going to take our guns 4 years ago? What happened? Nothing! We had a congresswomen shot and there was not one serious piece of gun control legislation voted on or even introduced. I need to see some facts, before I buy into this hype and propaganda.
My thoughts. Messing with the 2nd Amendment is political suicide. Obama and the Democrats know it. They may make a few statements to keep the liberal-left happy, but that will be about it. As long as we stay vigilant, the 2nd Amendment will be safe. You want to buy a gun, do it. But don't just buy it because you believe they will be taken away. That makes absolutely no sense.

Brian, with all due respect, what leftist planted that idea in your head...you are indeed naively paranoid of your supposedly conspiretory gun industry. While they are all surely pleased with the business, neither Remington nor Winchester, or Sterns & Ruger nor Smith & Wesson, or any other of our fine firearms fabricators manufactured this issue for marketing purposes. No, this issue has been raised by individual attentive, vigilant patriots through forums like this, organizations like the 2AF, and NRA, and conversations in homes, gardens, woods, boats, bars and barbershops. People like Kennedy, O'brady, Feinstein and Obama--and don't forget Bloomberg & Emanuel & the rest of those mayors--really do exist--and there are many more of them--and just because you don't meet them in Missouri--where I, too, lived for 18 years--they really do believe nobody but LOA and MIlitary (if them!) should have access to guns--and they want nothing less than to take all of them away--yours, too.

Brian, as I indicated yesterday, its not just obummer, e.g.,
“This is just the beginning.”
Those are the words uttered recently out of the mouth of a top aide to billionaire anti-gun NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
He was referring to the more than $10 million Bloomberg spent out of his own vast fortune attacking pro-gun candidates during the 2012 election cycle.
Gun owners should consider Bloomberg's “pocket change” no less than a warning shot aimed at destroying our Second Amendment rights.
Bloomberg has spent the last decade pouring millions of dollars into building up the gun control lobby and his gun-grabbing gang, Mayor Against Guns.
He's been refining and perfecting his line of attack waiting for the right time to pounce and destroy your Second Amendment rights.
With Barack Obama set to serve four more years in office, you can bet Bloomberg and his anti-gun cohorts are feeling emboldened -- scheming RIGHT NOW to enact gun control.
In the past, he's supported ammo bans, magazine bans and a new so-called “Assault Weapons Ban.”
He's even used the blood of innocents to advance his anti-gun agenda.
And Bloomberg has supported scores of politicians at the local, state and federal levels who would like nothing more than to strip our gun rights away piece by piece -- it not all in once.
By establishing a network of anti-gun allies in all 50 states and in Congress, his plan is crystal clear . . . attack gun rights at all levels of government.
With billions of dollars in the bank, the millions of dollars he has spent in recent years appear to be just a drop in the bucket compared to what he is planning to unleash in the coming weeks and months.
Make no mistake about it, the gun control lobby is well-funded and increasingly more organized.
Bloomberg and his billionaire anti-gun buddies like George Soros can pour unlimited amounts of money into efforts to restrict our gun rights at any given time.
And he's made it clear -- this is only the beginning in his war on the

Re: Patriots' obligation to own guns
Rather than, "Why own a gun?", the more apropos question is, "Why would you NOT own a gun?"
God empowers each of us to choose good over evil. It is spiritually and morally indefensible to allow evil to triumph over innocence. The possession and use of a gun for self defense--against criminals, including government agents who would abrogate God-given freedoms--is first a deterrent, and second an immediate and effective response to those who would threaten life and liberty. When great numbers of individuals can competently stand up for their rights, powerfully assisted by the threat of armed resistance, tyranny is held in check. Lucky for us, that is what is happening in the US right now.
As to any national or international gun confiscation scheme becoming law and enforced in the US, the Eighteenth and Twenty-first Amendments regarding alcohol prohibition set a minor precedence for what would follow an attempt at serious gun restrictions in the US. What law enforcement officers or military troops would go out into US society and try to enforce such laws? Oh. New Orleans.

I've been a shooter most of my life --as a kid,me, my .22 and bike were often heading to the city dump --lots of targets. The Army taught me to shoot the M-1 rifle, and the M1911 pistol. When I was released from active duty, I shot the M1911 in my Army Reserve unit team. After moving to Utah, I got involved in high power rifle competiotion, shooting not only at the club range but also out of state,The NRA Whittington Center, and the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio.(12 years). I found out about an excellent shooting school, Front Sight (www.frontsight.com) and attended a four-day school in the use of a defensive pistol -- not only the shooting but the laws concerning the use of defensive shooting. I have my carry permit for Utah (Being now 84 yeard old, I don't get around like I used to, but I still shoot the pistol at the range at least monthly and more ofter when the opportunities arise. The formal training I received at Front Sight has made a believer out of me, and I never leave home without my pistol. I also know that Federal buildings are non-gun, and acknowledge the signs that some businesses display that don't want firearms on the premises (I just don't trade there). Front Sight taught me to draw, acurately aim and fire two shots in 1.5 seconds. All shooters should access the Front Sight web site and get some invaliable training from experts. There are other schools in the country too, and there might be one near where you-all live.

Just as "winners and losers" are chosen by your regime at the corporate level (cf "Solyndra, et al), so too winners/losers will be chosen at the individual level. Witness the 70's in Russia: Zil automobiles transported the rich (read: Communist Party Member) through the streets at breakneck speeds--pedestrians beware. Few others had cars--they were not allowed. "We pretend to work, and the government pretends to pay us" is a famous Russian line depicting their stagnant economy and over lorded populace. No wonder the bestselling product was vodka, used to dull one’s sense of outrage and thus keep one alive.
And when one did business in the former Soviet Union, it was conducted strictly with government officials--no private business existed that did not have a Party 'minder' tending to every aspect of it.
Those outside the Party had fewer actionable rights--where they could shop or live--than those belonging to the Party. THIS is where you Americans are headed with Mr. Obama. Few of you seem to care if a company goes out of business for not playing “Quid Pro Quo Ball” and donating ‘correct’ election funding and receiving government business in return…but what happens when you personally are targeted for supporting the “wrong candidate” say, by your vaunted IRS? Or denied medical services for being a Climate Denier, or just voting Republican—or a host of other downsides to maintaining your freedom ?
I love living in your country—I’m between your states of California, Utah and Singapore many times per year. And when abroad, I cannot wait to return to the U.S. But where will you or I go if this great nation becomes just another tyranny ?
There will be no shortage of Quislings who will run—RUN into the arms of the ruling party, wherein lie their perceived benefits. Of course one keeps said benefits by informing on those outside the Party, even to the point of creating infractions with which to further endear oneself to power. Men’s hearts will fail them. It has always been so; it will ever be so.
By all media accounts, it’s best you start stocking up on Vodka, comrades. Or arm yourselves.

Great article which encapsulates the real situation in America. Canada has evolved and is evolving into a nanny state gun control freakish nation .In the 1950.s and 60's one could order a rifle and ammo through the Sears Catalogue and proceed to have a private target practice in the country side .Now one has to have a restrictive licence to even possess a firearm of any kind , Thankfully the Conservative Government has done away with the billion dollar boondoggle long gun registry-one which our police chiefs owned stock in by the way . It still has a long way to go to undo the restrictive hamstringing of Canadian citizens.Don't let the socialist Communist Nazi left wing disarm you ! I am beginning to believe, by the actions and words of our so called conservative representatives in congress and senate that restoration of Constitutional rule of law would be next to impossible. It would be nice if our rule of law was followed by our government as then I could die naturally as an old man. But, I believe just because I write this and other opinions, send my Rep Adam Smith D WA no hold bared letters and e-mails, have several patriot web sites and own and practice with weapons for close combat as well as long distance shooting skills I am probably under some sort of watch by our government as a dangerous person and may one day face my doors being kicked in by government thugs. In brief, the second amendment is the force that backs our authority as the sovereign. The Militia - within the meaning of the second amendment - meant then and means now citizens; this predates the formation of the federal government, which we did ordain and establish in order to form a more perfect union. We invented the federal government.
Since we are the sovereign and the governments are not, the second amendment is absolute, and not subject to due process outside of another amenmment. Until that hour, there can be no such thing as a legal gun law.
Simple.

Let's examine the effectivity of "gun control”. At Fort Hood, a military base, all military personnel were prohibited from possessing or carrying a weapon. Only the civilian police force had sidearms. This is a microcosm of a disarmed society. Enter, stage left, the Muslim Jihad warrior, well armed and determined. Can you see it? A relatively helpless, disarmed society was at the mercy of the bad guy who, lo and behold had firearms. How did that happen? Firearm possession on base was prohibited except for civilian security personnel and planned military exercises. What's the answer? We must have more "gun control." Also remember that it was a policewoman from the civilian police force that finally shot and disarmed the Muslim, not military personnel.

Between the NDPA Obama signed in 2011 and the NDRP signed in March, 2012, it appears that this president may be setting himself up to be able to declare martial law at the slightest pretext of a national emergency. Mr Reed, I think that quote attributed to Yamamoto was something like-"There's a rifle behind every blade of grass." The idea is the same though. Anyone hear this story about who has the largest standing army. on the planet? There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. Wisconsin 's hunters are the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran. and than in France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters.Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. So yup, as 5% of the world's population I believe we have 50% of the guns, Santa is bringing me a new Mossberg 590A1 12 gauge, with pistol grip, which makes it a assault weapon, and another pistol. If the average gun owning household has three guns, I wonder what the average number of gun-owning type folks like us who read the Patriot Post own? My bud told me he was ready for the 'zombie apocalypse' (otherwise known as plinking at the gun range, etc.) the other day, because he had 1,500 rounds of ammo. I told him to go to the store because I said he wasn't ready. I told him I had 15,000 rounds. He dropped his beer. I then told him to quit abusing alcohol. Keep your powder dry brothers.

Unfortunately this seems to be 1/2 of America. How do we educate, help, open the eyes, to the problems they are creating? Here are some ideas to help your neighbors understand: Ask your congressmen to raise taxes to match our spending habits. People will choke when they "feel" the real cost of this government.
Stop taking government money. Student loans, Solar rebates, Cash for clunkers, Meals on wheels ... add your own subsidized program. Don't be one of the everyone in "everyone is doing it!" This generation is the most selfish people in the history of the world. We have so much and yet demand more and try to make others pay for it.
Finally, if we could stand together. Jews are a small minority but you will find kosher food everywhere. Gays are a small minority but they are vocal and write, call, comment on everything that even hints against them.
We need to help our neighbor understand that government money is really our money that is being taken away from us by force and giving to their personal mascots.

First of all I am a Veteran of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Further I have been a police officer and I am a college graduate with honors. I am a professional and I have lived in the Middle East previously for three consecutive years that I was not deployed. I have seen first hand the censorship and brutality of governments that have total arrest powers where the citizens cannot bear arms and they do not need a warrant or permission to enter anyone's home. The media and the internet are censored and freedom of speech is NON Existent. This is in the United Arab Emirates, our most staunch ally in the Middle East that has more liberty for its people than any other country in the Middle East. Women have no standing before the courts and Juries do not exist. Everything is decided by Sharia Law and the Judge-period-even the innocent are punished. God help us all if Obama bin Satan is able to Socialize America and take away our weapons-this we must not allow under any circumstances. Generals from the former USSR have publicly stated that their greatest fear on the battlefield is the American Soldiers autonomy to engage any target of opportunity and that the Armed American People make our country safe from foreign attack as it would be impossible to ever take and hold any part of America with force.
Our number one enemy is a populace that does not understand the cost that has been paid for our Liberty and is willing to accept the socialist polices of the Obama administration and Liberal Socialist Democratic Party. It is time for every true American to study and understand the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America and the amendment's that are part of these great documents and stand ready to defend and attack anyone that attempts to bypass, dilute, dissolve or nullify our essential rights. Remember that in no other country on the planet do the citizens possess anything close to our God Given Right to Liberty. May God Bless our Country, our Leaders, our Military Personnel and the Great People of our Great Nation with the insight and wisdom to see us clearly through the time of turmoil and attack.

THANK YOU, JERRY! The two things that let me sleep at night are 1) as you stated, "Generals from the former USSR have publicly stated that their greatest fear on the battlefield is the American Soldiers autonomy to engage any target of opportunity and that the Armed American People make our country safe from foreign attack as it would be impossible to ever take and hold any part of America with force", and 2) I firmly believe the majority of active military feel just as you do about preserving and protecting the constitution which guarantees our God-given rights. I think should the DOHS or any other federal police force systematically try to disarm the citizenry, they might just find themselves facing a force which was supported by the military. In other words, if there were ever a military coup here, the military would be behind those of us reading and writing here today. Semper Fi!

In 1951, at the age of 7, my brother and I accompanied my parents to Germany, because my Dad was in Military Intelligence; he had been recalled because of the Korean War. We lived in a two family house in Offenbach, a suburb of Frankfurt-am-Main. The house was surrounded on three sides by a high wall and there was a wrought iron gate at the front. When we went outside that gate and looked all around the property, the terrain was flat, flat, flat, for as far as we could see. That type of destruction was brought upon the German people by a demagogue, a narcissist, a tyrant and a dictator. The people of Germany did not believe that these things could have happened to them. I saw it with my own eyes and I consider myself lucky to have done so. In America, the rise of Obama and the destruction he is wreaking on Constitutional government and the Republic, including the absolute ignorance of the majority of the population in regards to how we should be governed, is going to lead us into a hell which we could have never imagined. I, too am a Veteran; flew the P-3 Orion for the United States Navy. Today, the Navy has on active duty, almost the very same number of personnel it had on December 7, 1941. Obama would have it much lower. I fear for the safety of our children and grandchildren with this man at the helm. It is very hard for me to believe that this guy actually got vetted to run for President. Read Aaron Klein's book: The Manchurian President. It was published in 2010; should have been published in 2007. Then the mainstream media would not have been able to gloss over and hide the truth about this guy. God help us.

There is only one difference between Obama's methodology to control the population and Mursi's methodology to control the population. Obama must deal with the second amendment in a stealthy fashion to cause individuals not to believe they are losing their constitutional rights to protect themselves again government tyranny. Mursi just simply declared the absence of the individuals rights. They are looking more and more the same every day. That doesn't bode well for US citizens.

I guess that I am not that worried about the government taking away my guns. We have lived as a free people too long to allow this to happen. I read and hear all of the scare tactics employed and realize that it does keep us on our toes. I still would hate to have the job of picking up everyone's guns. You can say all you wish about taking the responsible path and, "getting your carry permit", but things aren't all that simple in the real world. I, for years, as an honorably discharged Marine Corps veteran and responsible Citizen with a clean record, was issued a concealed carry permit without hesitation. Recently when I attempted to renew the permit, with no changes in my status, I was informed by the "new" Sheriff that, "although your life record is commendable your "need" to carry concealed has not been established and the permit must be denied." Consequently, I am now guilty of a criminal act when I carry my weapon, a right guaranteed me under the Second Amendment of our Constitution. The time has come for Citizens to get serious about this issue and quit deluding themselves with the belief that merely purchasing a weapon is going to afford them the opportunity to use it in defense if the need arises. As in my case politicians will simply enact rules which will be enforced by those in authority to restrict your use of same on pain of punishment if those rules are violated. It's the old game of "cooking a frog". Throw him in a boiling pot and he'll jump right out and save himself. Increase the heat gradually and he'll sit still as the temperature increases and he eventually succumbs. Another thought to consider; when you buy a gun from a licensed dealer you are entering your name in a data base kept by the government which allows them to know just where to go to collect those weapons. I suggest a more discreet method of purchase if you are a serious Second Amendment advocate.

My background checks, go to CBI. They look to see if I am a felon, have a record or offense that prevents me from purchasing. Then after they determine I am clean, they send back the ok and remove the record. Otherwise the FFL dealer would be able to just check a site to see if I am good and sell me a firearm, not have to fill out a BOATLOAD of paperwork each time. Only if/when you apply for a Class III license does your paperwork stay on file at the federal level. Your state may be different.

I've never been more disheartened about the state of our right to self defense as I have been since the re-election of our organizer-in-chief. The seeds for my pessimism were sewn by none other than the NRA, in DC v. Heller (2008), when they claimed the decision as a great victory for gun ownership rights. Please understand that the SC decision was, in fact, a great victory for the judicially created fiction of the "incorporation doctrine," by which, any right the SC deems to be fundamental may then be held as inviolate against the states. This concept turns the Constitution upon its head . . . a document created to keep the federal government within its explicitly defined bounds will now be used to dictate to the states! That means as soon as "our beloved and great leader" places two judges on the court, our God-given right to self defense will be severely curtailed. Buy all the guns and ammunition you can now, because you will not be able to do so very soon.

Rev, when the local police chief or sheriff refuses to collect the guns, a representative from the FBI or Obama's Homeland Security Force will require all officers or deputies to muster in front of the headquarters building where the chief or sheriff will be given one more chance to comply. When he refuses he will be executed immediately. This will encourage the troops to follow orders. When the local People's Liberation Army garrison proved reluctant to use force against the protestors in Tienanmen Square, the Communist Chinese government brought in troops from the southern provinces to do the dirty work.
in the days of feudalism (the precursor to socialism), kings would often hire foreign mercenaries to put down peasants' revolts. Don't think for a minute Mr. Obama would squirm at the "offer" of UN "Peacekeeping Forces" to knock us back into line. Regarding, "Obama has asserted erroneously, "The vast majority of Americans would like to see serious gun control, [but] it doesn't pass because there is this huge disconnect between what people think and what legislators think and are willing to act upon." " and "This effort by globalists to undermine our Constitution is set to reconvene March 18th-28th in order to pass the final version of the treaty that will be sent to the Senate for ratification. Make no mistake, they will ultimately register, ban and CONFISCATE firearms owned by private citizens." My ultimate fear is the threat of a Constitutional Convention where we lose much more than but also including our 2nd amendment because Obama and his fellow progressives prevail at election stealing of the delegates to such a convention. At that point, instead of having "discussion" where patriots take the side of a literal constitution vs progressives claiming it is a living document subject to reinterpretation to fit their designs, we could be under a document which not only guarantees these rights but outright prohibits them! At that time the quote "those who would sacrifice a little freedom for a little safety deserve neither" would be borne out. It may be that this country decides this and other issues with a box other than the soap, ballot, or jury. While I feel in my heart that the civil authorities might convince many of their employees (police, fed,), my impression of those who have taken the oath to preserve and protect the constitution (as in our loyal armed forces) would find it difficult to accept the position that citizen uprisings defending the same constitution were the enemy; in other words, I think the military would join us in repelling those who have such disdain for that constitution. My home is that those who care for it so little also realize what they would have unleashed if the armed patriot citizens were joined in battle by the majority of our armed forces to put an end to all this disregard to the rule of law. If they don't consider this, I pray that the conflict be swift and decisive, so that American progressivism can also finally be relegated to what Ronald Reagan aptly referred to as THE ASH HEAP OF HISTORY.

On gun control...
I just finished reading an article about the Hobby Lobby suing the federal government over the health insurance mandates in Obamacare – specifically the mandates for birth control drug coverage. The last sentence in the article reads, "At a hearing earlier this month, a government lawyer said the drugs do not cause abortions and that the U.S. has a compelling interest in mandating insurance coverage for them."
Compelling interest? That’s the government’s excuse. So the government's compelling interest trumps their constitutional duty to protect the compelling interest of our nation of individuals, all with their own compelling interests to run their lives in their own manner?
As Obama gets further into his goal to disarm us, nothing will be different from the Obamacare topic. He will still have a “compelling interest”. However, in this case, his interest will be either to protect us from gun violence (with a domestic legislative gun control policy) or to protect us from international gun dealers (with a U.N. treaty endeavor). EITHER WAY HE WILL SAY THAT HE'S TRYING TO PROTECT US. But his “compelling interest” will be in reality no different from any other of the world’s tyrants throughout history – to control the People.
You see, our government, as a group of corrupt individuals, now considers themselves as lord and master over all of us. This is how bad it is. This is how far we've come from the concept of a limited government and the idea that our government was never intended to be used as a tool to rule over society AND KEEP THEMSELVES IN PERPETUAL POWER.
The second coming of King George III is near! Just kidding. But Germany ignored the warning signs of Hitler coming to power. In my opinion, Obama and his like-minded minions are, likewise, enemies of the People.

The VA got ahold of the discission, and although it had nothing to do with mental instibility, and nothing to do with the VA at all, the VA sent mmy name to the Fed. Backround check. Now I do not have a second amendment rights I fought for.

Sir, Thank you for your service. While you may not be able to get a Concealed carry permit, you can still purchase from a private citizen that 'happens' to have an extra gun or two (if it was recently purchased - who is to know?). You may also be able to purchase from a gun show (the famous "gun show loophole"). Do not wait.

They will never confiscate any of my guns/weapons. They can probley due to overwhelming numbers take me down but they will pay a hell of a price. Which one on them wants to be first.

Whenever I encounter a person in military uniform away from home I almost always give them my thanks and encouragement. One common feeling I get from them is that they love their country and WILL NOT allow Obama or any other person or group to take over our country, OR disarm American citizens. This position is shared by all I've talked to,at least 100 military men and women. They can't say that publically, but in private they do. I'm sure there are some in the military who go along with Obama but I have yet to run across them.

Back in the day, while still in the military, I owned a gun and had a permit to carry. Once out of the service and in university, I that I would have to re-register same in that state, and that it would be a tedious process, so I opted out. After university and marriage, I settled in GA, and my boys had guns to hunt with, but knew how to use them and respect their use. Now in my golden years I have considered buying and owning a gun again. Where I live is relatively crime free, but there are now other circumstances that have encouraged me to purchase a fire arm, namely the desires of our current administration to cozy up to the UN's world-wide desire to eleiminate hand guns/guns from all people, and the desire of this administration and its usefuls idiots to outlaw guns in violation of our 2nd Amendment. Since I am a law abiding citizen, I know that if guns are banned only the criminals as well as non-police and military people will have them, because criminals don't abide by the law anyway. Contrary to the James Brady bunch, guns do not kill people, but irrational people with guns kill other people. Therefore, I am seriously considering purchasing another gun and learning how to use it if the occasion arises.

Mark, Excellent article and links. In a future letter it is important to spell out strategies for uniting if we must defend our liberty in the form of a revolution. Undoubtedly we will lose internet access or we will profile ourselves as "hotspots" to be extinguished, cell phone usage could be eliminated by martial law, etc. How then should we most effectively marshal ourselves? There are reports that the Dept of Homeland Security has purchased over a billion rounds over a period of months (T or F?) If so we citizens need to counter that. This is all a terrible thing to consider, especially when it appears so many citizens are willing to be part of a herd in government submission. We have a wealth of trained patriots who have served in uniform to lead, but discreet means to assemble will be the key to all attempts to preserve freedom. Recent history tells us all about overwhelming force against small bands, patriots must be mentally prepared or we could be just another repetition of the cycle of tyranny. Pray for those in service now and for those who will be called to oppress their fellow citizens in the future.

When I retired in '03 after spending my professional life working in CA, my wife and I started looking for a new home. There were two criteria -- mild year-round climate so I could ride my Harley year-round and she could be outdoors and a state in which we could own and carry guns for our protection. We chose Texas. In compliance with the law, I applied for my CHL six months after we arrived .. I carry every day and if the topic comes up, I try to explain to people how desperately vital it is that the 2A remain intact ... It's obvious that the president (it sticks in my craw to say that word in connection with Obama) intends to gradually disarm the law-abiding citizens of this country by hook or crook. It is absolutely vital that patriots be armed and that we continue to fight to keep the 2A alive and well ...

It seems to me that the Quakers (Society of Friends) are the major attacking parties subverting our nation and the world. In the early 1920's the Quakers journeyed to the Soviet Union to help remedy famine there. The Quakers were brainwashed and brought Communism back to the U.S. Via brainwashing, Communism spread through the Quakers world wide. The Trilateral Commission has installed Quakers as U.S. Presidents starting with Jimmy Carter. Hillary is a Quaker Black Panther. Chelsea went to a Quaker school. Al Gore's child went to a Quaker school. Presidential Pretender Barack Obama's children attend Quaker School. The Secretary of Defense is a Quaker (FCNL). The gay bars are mostly GLBT, LGBT, and others...Quaker organizations and through them, every segment of American society is subverted. Abraham Lincoln was brainwashed by the Quakers and the B'nai B'rith in Quincy, Illinois before the Lincoln and Douglas debate. When I purchased my property in Quincy, I checked the attic. I found an issue of the Quincy Whig. The headline stated "The Lincoln and Douglas Debate will be held in Galesburg next week". History shows it happened before then in Quincy because the train broke down and had to stop in Quincy. The Quincy Public Library history web site shows a close Quaker involvement with Abraham Lincoln. The Civil War was likely a Quaker war against the American People. Albert T. Viar

No. here are the REAL facts. You are a racist, a bigot, and a black-hating sore loser!
Obama is no Marxist. In fact, he is a rather moderate or middle of the road Dem. The USA has never elected anyone truly left, although the right wing likes to pretend anyone they didn't elect is some sort of leftist kook. Even Congress rarely gets anyone a bit left of center, Bernie Sanders being a rare exception--and he isn't all that left either.
illegal means one wasn't born in this country and isn't a citizen. He IS from here, he's proven it time and tme again!
Why does Barack Obama want to destroy America? HERE IS A EASY ANSWER..HE DOESN'T!
How is our President Obama an "evil man" when he hasn't declared war on any other country based on a lie remember Bush's WMD. I don't see any concentration camps around America do you? No. It's obvious you're just a mentally damaged paraniod racist that can't stand having a black man as President!
The issue their taking with this is that if they can prove Obama is a Muslim, which they can't, because he's not, they would have proved that he lied and a fully proven lie might be enough to impeach the president.
Even "IF" he is a Muslim (which has been proven time and time again he is not) it does not disqualify him as president, so epic fail for trying to prove something that does not really matter.
Like you'd be doing anything other than celebrating if Romney has squeaked by a win.
You obviously don't read much, or only read the daily KOS and Briebart Report. As for the 140%, that error was due to early voting tabulation backups being run twice and it was corrected, and it only dealt with a house seat in Florida.
As for the 100% counties, there were 9 of them, all in Philadelphia, and all 100% black.
To accuse our president of voter fraud is the epitome of ignorant. Romney lost, get over it.. You're just a sore fucking loser but don't have enough common decency to admit it.
Obama is not a traitor nor a disgrace. he is not Communist, socialist, or marxist. he does not hate america. he is not racist. he is not muslim actually he is Christian. Obama does not have full control on our country, he is not a dictator.
You just hate having a Black Man as President!

Short and sweet, there is but one reason for the leftist push to disarm America. That reason is United Nation's Agenda 21 If you are ignorant of the Constitution or have been public schools to hate it, you will not understand why Agenda 21 cannot tolerate armed citizens laboring under the delusion they are sovereign citizens protected by the Constitution from a run away leviathan government. A few random thoughts:........President Obama, having been raised in a more or less European frame of reference, honestly believes that Americans are actually more submissive than they (we) seem. He doesn't really understand how willing we are to push back when shoved, and how little we are awed by any elected official. If Americans will riot over either winning or losing a championship, (sometimes both at the same time), we just might be very good at insurrections. It is simply not in his thinking that of some 60 million guns in private hands, 59.5 million will be "lost", "stolen" ,or "misplaced", should a general registration or confiscation program be initiated. Something rarely noted is that when the 2nd Amendment was formulated, citizens were armed with equal firpower to any army. Nowadays, we are held to a lower standard. And that's problematical. There is an anecdote published in 2008 that, while in elementary school, Obama said that he wanted to be president "so that the government would build his house, and the army would protect him". Yeah, right. We are a country with more veterans than active duty at any particular time, and it is very doubtful that our military, who generally don't like him anyway. would fire upon their own countrymen.

Since neither of our political parties are interested in constitutional restoration, it is not going to happen. The Civil War taught me all that is required to know about insurrection in this country, and our ability to force our government into constitutional restoration has been made even more impossible by our current weapon restrictions. Still, they will take the guns I own only by force, and I will likely not survive the confrontation.

For those interested in learning about firearms in a safe, fun and comprehensive manner I suggest FrontSight.com. Frontsight is the largest firearms training facility in the US. I am a lifetime member and spens at least 8 days a year at the Pahrump ficility taking firearms training courses.
For more info try Guntrainingcentral.com. There are bona-fida certificates available online for a "first timer" 2 or 4 day course for about $100.
If you seek the "comfort of skill at arms" I highly recommend Frontsight.
Last week I met an Englishman there. He described how at first, his guns were registered by serial number on his owner certificate. When the British decided to confiscate guns after the school shooting at Dunblaine, they simply demanded that guns be turned in, and then came to get the ones that did not. Now only the criminals have guns -- and there are lots of them. The media is silent.
The same has happened in Australia - and it will happen here if you do not protect yourself and your Constitutionally protected God given right. Think about Obama and his executive over-reach. If it were not for the 2nd Amendment and an armed populace - Obama would be acting just like Assad in Syria.
These people are dangerous -- Get trained, and get a gun!

When I was a young child growing up in "old" central Florida (pre-Disney World), I remember a common bumper sticker: "You can have my gun when you pry my cold, dead fingers from around it". To this day, I believe that no matter what further "fundamental transformation" may come, I will always be a gun-owning American. Why? We will either continue enjoying this right, or, the day they come to confiscate them is the day I die. I can only pray that other gun-owning, law-abiding citizens would join me by the millions.

My nephew quit the police force of a large city about a year ago. Today, he got a call from a former co-cop that the gun grab starts in March. They'll first confiscate all firearms that hold more than 10 rounds. That even includes Ruger 10-22's, as you can use a larger magazine (30, 50 or 100 round) in them. What are you going to do when they come for yours? Remember, that's why "the shot heard 'round the world" was fired: firearm confiscation.

Would the Chinese uprising as exemplified in Tianenman Square have had a different outcome if the Chinese people had been armed? Would the Warsaw Ghetto uprising been different if arms had ben freely possessed by the Jews? What of those murdered by Pol Pot and Idi Amin? Does our own history of the British route after Lexington and Concord by those with their own arms teach us nothing? Let us never forget that an armed man is a citizen, an unarmed man is a subject at best and often a slave. My guns are Liberty's teeth!

I have read many of the comments above and was struck by those who did not have a gun or wantd to become gun owners but did not know how. May I suggest contacting the NRA and finding an NRA instructor in your area that does the NRA Fundamentals of Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun courses in your area. Pick which ones you are interested in. These will give you a grounding in safety, shooting fundamentals, and maintenance that will serve as a base for any shooting activity. I suggest that you find an instructor who can let you try several different guns and calibers (start with a 22 rimfire) as - like shoes - there is no universal fit or style.
A note to the women: for decades I had women tell me "I'm afraid of guns". Finally it dawned they were actually saying "I don't know enough about guns to feel safe with them". A good instructor will never allow you to be in an unsafe situation and will eliminate your anxiety. Most women in my classes find that shooting is great fun as well as a safety enhancer. By the way, women are easier to teach as they don't come with ego, listen and apply fundamentals better, and have better eye-hand coordination. Stop hesitating and learn a new skill!

So, how do dedicated Patriots who are not familiar with firearms make the leap to gun ownership and proficiency?
This is not hard to do. Become a member of the NRA they have a wealth of info to help you get started. Stop by your local gun shop and tell them you are interested in learning to shoot. They can connect you with ranges that offer classes. You can also look up local clubs. They can get you started too. I am a member of 2 CT clubs and have introduced over a dozen people to rifle and hand gun shooting.
Do your part, get involved and be a Patriot! It is also great fun!

I would like to see you folks, as a further continuance of this discussion, talk about WHEN it is "right" to take up arms and use them (as a whole people) - such as in the movie "Red Dawn" (the original movie). You guys all talk endlessly about the taking up of arms, and I certainly do not disagree with that notion, but how about entering into a discussion (using several specific examples, etc.) about the "TIMING" of their use - i.e; WHEN would it be deemed appropriate to not only take up arms, but crying "enough is enough", USING them. In other words, I'd like to see a sort of "put your $$$ where your mouth is" and come out and give us some examples of where YOU guys would consider justifying their use on a large scale by citizens within our population. Like in the great book by John Ross titled "Unintended Consequences". Give us examples & scenarios to consider and look for where serious use would be justified. What would have to lead up to such action BEFORE their use would be considered justified - and at what point would the "enemy" be considered to have "crossed the line" and now it's time to "lock, load, and fire at will...!!". Comments and examples, please...!!

I believe in the 2nd Ammendment. That being said, I must say that in this country today it is not our God given right to own a gun; it is a privilege. About 20 years I got in trouble with the law and now, being a convicted felon, I no longer can legally own or possess any firearm ever again. I did my time, but that wasn't enough to restore all of my "rights". In spite of this I still consider myself a Patriot. And although I am not in possession of any guns. if worse comes to worse I can be armed to the teeth pretty quickly if need be... Just remember, rights cannot be taken away, but privileges can.

When people watched the unrest in Europe not long ago they failed to realize two things. The first is, that far from being a demonstration for the "people", the violence and destruction was the intentional, orchestrated work of anarchists and socialists. The second is, that it's a lot harder to toss a malotov cocktail at someone's home or business when there is a determined patriot defending it with his integrity AND his (insert weapon of choice).

I served this country for twenty years in the US Air Force to ensure the freedom & continuance of this nation. After that I continued to serve the nation in other capacities. I retired from all such activities more than five years ago, but I have not retired from the obligation that I swore to at the beginning of each tour of duty - nor do I intend to. The Obama administration is again making noise like it wants to sign on with the UN to ban private ownership of ALL privately owned firearms. To that I can only say that while I might not survive the final assault, many who come for my weapons will not survive the first assault. I know that I do not stand alone in this expectation. Many citizens also hold firearms as their possessions. And, like me they will not give them up freely. Therefore, I would counsel Obama, his minions and anyone else who would seek to eliminate our Second Amendment rights to cautiously rethink that decision. Failure to do so will most assuredly result in a great deal of unnecessary bloodshed!!

To prepare for gun ownership one should look around your area for a gun range that will offer non-owners a variety of weapons for rent so that the individual can determine what type/size weapon is most right for them. The range is generally associated with a lawful gun dealership. Therefore, from the controlled range where the select the proper type of weapon, they go to the gun shop to purchase an appropriate lesson. While purchasing the weapon they can generally also sign up for a class to teach them how to effectively use their weapon & pursue a carry permit. After that, frequent visits to the range to improve/maintain skill is also required.

I agree that you have the right to carry a gun. However, an obligation? After some years of unemployment and underemployment, I can barely afford food and utilities, let alone a gun and the ammunition. Then add the classes for training and licensing. Additionally, after having been a funeral director for 26 years, I can say that the misuse of guns has been the cause of many families' tragedies, including the killing of children whose parents have been remiss in their duties to supervise their children around firearms.
I've never held, aimed or shot a gun. At 57, I don't intend to start. I'm glad you have one, but don't ask me to do that. I never have, and never will allow a gun in my home.

It is difficult to discern from these comments whether you objection to gun ownership and proficient use of the same is because you can't afford a gun, or because at 57 you have never used one and don't like weapons. If the former, I hope your circumstances improve. If the latter, like most Americans you can depend on the obligations met by other men and women to defend your freedom. But do NOT call yourself a Patriot under those circumstances. At 57, you should know better.

I guess I think a "good guy" should be able to own whatever he wants that he can pay for. That is not legal now. Since the 1930's, when the fully automatic and short barrelled and silenced firearm were made subject to a tax and special license, and destructive devices such as artillery and mortars were prohibited to almost all non-government people, there has been almost no legal firearms of that sort in private hands. Some, not many. But the government at local, state, and federal levels have lots of them. So, every patriot needs to have some firearm in possession, if for no other reason than as a means to obtain a better, more effective one in the event of invasion, or if a rebellion against a tyrannical government becomes the evidently the only way to preserve life and liberty.

Fact is this although there is merit and is sorely needed to change our course, it will never come to fruition and is not the answer to the nation's detoriation. Is a constitutional restoration committee compromised of 2 delegates from each state a better alternative? It's one thing to take up arms against an invading foe, but it is something else to take up arms against your own countrymen. Right or not, the resonsibility is awsome. One the first shot is fired there is no turning back. The American Patriot with his right to bear arms is the only defense against a one world government which has gained a foothold in our own country. As patriots we must stand against this encroaching evil which means choosing our candidates much more carefully in future. It seems to me that the bigger issue for the people that are against guns is that they believe the government is really benevolent and has their best interest at the core of what they do. History doesn't show this to be true yet they continue to believe that if they just let somebody else be responsible for their liberty, safety and security that everything will be just fine.
While a number of wars between countries have resulted in the deaths of thousands, there are just as many, or more deaths that have come from within by the government of that country against its own citizens. The person that brings a knife to a gun fight is sorely outmatched, as is an unarmed citizen against an armed robber.
The solution isn't to ban firearms, the solution is to make the penalty for crime committed with one so severe that the criminal element of our society is removed more quickly as a part of it. Have as many guns as you like and shoot them as much as you want, but point that at another human being with criminal intent and you should be removed from society, quickly and permanently, for your failure to handle the responsibility associated with that freedom.

Obama doesn't have the Senate votes to pass any arms deal with the U.N. but, he does have power under Executive Orders.
It's going to be interesting to see what he will do, given his power of Executive Orders, in the name of "homeland security."
Let's not forget that "clingers" were served notice by this President.
Let's not forget that Janet Napolitano branded gun owners and former members of the Armed Forces as "potential terrorists."
Let's not forget that the NDAA is now Law.
Let's not forget that for the sake of their patients' health, doctors have begun querying their patients about guns in the home.
Let's not forget under the ever-burgeoning power of the IRS, HHS, Homeland Security and Obamacare, there will be nothing -- nothing -- that the government can't claim under the rubrics of what's "safe" or healthy."

For what it's worth...
Some years back, I ran the gun counter for one of this Nation's largest sporting good chains.
During the weekend of the (first) Million Mom March, the NCIC computers were inexplicably "down" and we were unable to sell any guns between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.
Miraculously, the NCIC computers came back up on Monday morning.
Things are getting curiouser and curiouser.

Does the President have the authority to unilaterally sign a UN Treaty that contains language that contradicts our rights provided in our Constitution? Seems like that would be very problematic on many fronts.

Their reason to eliminate the 2nd Amendment is to control us. The mantra of what other countires have for gun control is what they use. Gun control only serves dictators, police states, tyranmts etc. They want to enslave us. Studies have shown that gun control or banning firearms does absolutley nothing to deter, curtail, or stop criminals from obtaining and using guns for illegal purposes. The Members of the US Senate and House of Representatives who support gun control should be removed from office for violation of their Oath of Office and for treason. We know who they are. The anti gun groups are the same, has anyone ever questioned their motives and whay they want to eliminate or eradicate the 2nd Amendment? The ant igun politicains and anti gun groups are SUBVERSIVES. I wonder why any member of the US Senate and House or Representatives has never questioned their colleagues or the anti gunners on their real motives, and whay haven't they been investigated as wanting to over throw our government and our rights? The UN Arms Treaty is a joke, we shouold never give up our sovereignty. The UN and its despots should be abolished, as they accomplish nothing.

Article 1, Section 9, of the Constitution, grants authority to the President to suspend habeus corpus in the event of "insurrection" or "foreign invasion."
Lincoln, Obama's "favorite President," ordered the summary incarceration of some 2,400 "Copperheads" (Democrats) who opposed and were undermining his efforts to prosecute the War of Northern Aggression.
It took an Act of Congress to free them.

It is somewhat confounding to me, as we all live under the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment, that we must be, or should be or might be under the impression that we must also be "licensed" for concealed carry. Nowhere does the 2nd Amendment state that concealed or open, loaded or unloaded, we must bear our arms. Only that we have the right to bear arms.

There are more than 30,000 anti-Second Amendment laws in effect in the 50 States -- and average of 600 per State -- with more being enacted monthly.
Sufficient laws are on the books which prohibit and proscribe punishment for all manner of violent crime.
It is against the law in all 50 States to rob, rape, murder, kidnap, assault, threaten. Why, then, the Liberal / Progressive passion to legislate against the object being used to commit said crime(s)?
Which of those laws ever prevented a crime?
The issue isn't the gun. It's control of We, the Peasants.

At the risk of sounding maudlin, I just finished loading eight hundred rounds of ammunition. In my immediate neighborhood are four true patriots to which group I proudly include myself. Harry Reid, and his ilk, is a disgrace to our state. He would proudly lead any statist charge, albeit from the rear. Hence all patriots must be prepared. An alarmist? I think not. Just look at the actions of the last four years. Those not prepared and alert will, as usual, be caught with no route of escape.

Many millions of us have taken an oath to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, both foreign and domestic." I fear that the Constitution's most dangerous enemy is now domestic, and this government could very well cause Civil War II and the partitioning of the USA. (When I was in school, I had to use my Dad's old set of encyclopedias - it had "The World War," not WWI and WWII).

I now and have always beleived that the right to keep and bear arms (Second Ammendment), is the most fundamentalpart of our freedoms, I've read my history, and take it seriously, and have noticed that the first thing that a Despot does is to disarm the people, then and only then can he make them into subjects. Yamamoto was afraid to invade the U.S. because he beleived that there would be a gun behind every blade of grass, Hitler was afraid to invade Switzerland for the same reason. That is the main reason that I don't trust liberal Politicians, no matter what party they belong to.

The only way that Obama can enforce a gun ban in the U.S. is to bring in foreign troops, police forces around the country would quickly realize that to attempt to disarm the American people would be a very dangerous occupation at best, and most would either quit or join the other side. I've noticed that countries like France, Spain, and most other western european countries would quickly tire of the body bags returning and quickly tire of any involvement in a war over here. Of course, there are a lot of eastern European countries that hate us on general principals, that would continue sending their young boys to be slaughtered.

Our gun rights need to be maintained. This government is constantly overstep;ing their bounds and trying to break this country down as much and as often as possible. The old flag with 'Don't Tread On Me' may soon be very popular for this country. This government has tried to remove God from our lives, rip the constitution from us bit by bit and continually blame others for it's incompetence. We must prevail against this tyrany. While it may be Democratic, it surely isn't democracy at work!

Start with a revolver--nearly foolproof. Get comfortable with it. Stock up on ammo. Get a nice rifle and a shotgun. Get a carry permit if you are able. Stock up on ammo just as you would prepare for a hurricane. Teach your children the real history of this United States, and the reasons that gun ownership has provided us our freedom.

Obama, Hillery Roddom Balls Cliton and the rest of their rotten souls can keep struggling for a one world government and have the UN try to take our weapons. I think the administration in the WH is under estimating the will of the Country about taking weapons away just by signing a treaty from the UN. The UN should be located elsewhere and turn the building into apartments for our citizens. Our (elected) officials in the Senate and House need to get off their hands and reject any treaty from the UN.

Look at the Oath Keepers website. www.oathkeepers.org
List of refused ordersThe Oath Keepers feel that their sworn oath to the American Constitution, grants them not only the right, but the duty to refuse unconstitutional orders. The Oath Keepers organization has published a list of orders that they will not obey:
1.Orders to disarm the American people. 2.Orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people. 3.Orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal. 4.Orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state. 5.Orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty. 6.Any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps. 7.Any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext. 8.Orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control." 9.Any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies. 10.Any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

In 1969 there was a missed window of opportunity. If somehow there could have been some coordination and organization, things could have been a lot different today. With over 200,000 well trained and combat ready Vietnam Veterans returning to the U.S. and the country in total chaos we could have pushed the reset button on our government and forced them back on the path that our forefathers set for the future of the country. There would have been no stopping us.

It appears as though one of obama's first actions will be to try to ban semi-auto rifles (I would assume pistols also). I for one am happy to see gun sales rising as at least one American industry is still flourishing. For how long is anyone's guess, but we must resist any and all attempts to disarm America; we surely can't depend on a feckless government to portect us.

Just as important as having guns is having ammo. But no amount of either would be sufficient against military forces armed with armored vehicles, aircraft, drones, sophisticated weapons. I fear relying on our guns may induce a false sense of security. Better, take control of the government by peaceful means through the vote while we still have that.

I used to be in the, "Let's get rid of Automatic Weapons" camp. After all look at all the damage they cause in ... ??? ... , what? I'm sure that my peers can think of an infinite amount more of 'Assault' weapons used in commission of crimes. However, I can only think of one --- The Bank Robbery in Los Angeles some years ago. It was devastating to the Police; they were literally 'out-gunned'. Than I took it one further. Of course the 'sociocrat' in Washington want no auto weaponry; they'd be out-gunned if things got 'dicey'. Think of it, for example, why have the Drug Cartels so overtaken Mexico? They have just out-gunned the Police!!! Anyway, what if I'm right...........???

Upon original reading, I flagged this message critical for response. Life happens.
God Bless you, Mark, and everyone in this endeavor !!
Here is my offering of where the core of this issue lies.
I mentioned this in my rebuttal to the Costas debacle -- Our nation ALREADY HAS many unconstitutional laws in place, and still this tragedy (Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher's murder-suicide) occurred. Now what ?? SOSDD – Laws only work for those who try to live within their influence, and many of those laws we have create defenseless people who become victims.
Murder is AGAINST God’s law. Killing in self-defense is PART OF God’s law. Get educated as to how that concept is a fundamental part of our national heritage. Visit http://jpfo.org/rabbi/6th-commandment.htm for a revealing look at how things should be, as well as how they have gotten twisted.
Bottom line - it is our God-given (G-d, for our friends at JPFO) right as sentient human beings, not to mention our basic nature and instinct, to keep ourselves alive and free from suffering harm. Jewish - Christian – other religion - matters NOT. Over 200 years old - matters NOT. Truth simply is. No argument to be had. Don't like God, or don't like to have Him in the discussion ?? Many do not - matters NOT. Judeo-Christian principles are the rock upon which our country was founded. What was undergirding them ?? God is the rock upon which our country was founded. No argument to be had. It is what it is. We struggle endlessly with man's law. This nation's laws, and founding documents, are modeled upon God's laws.
An excellent piece of writing to search out is Renewing Our Experiment in Ordered Liberty, by Michael S. Joyce Found at www.acton.org/ Eloquent and lofty, but the core issue is this - our society MUST honor our founding guidance in our Unites States Constitution. If that one breaks down, we will be FORCED to retreat to what undergirds it. The Declaration of Independence was put in place to protect life against tyranny. It was laid upon basic respect for human life and our fellow man. Only then could "Ordered Liberty" exist.
ANYONE'S first responsibility in life is to self, then respect for others.
Protecting yourself is God's law to you, and is also part of God's law for you. Thus, it is not only your right, it is also your obligation as a member of this society.

I've read and agreed with nearly all comments listed here, and would join with most in the defense of our 2nd amendment rights if it came to actually joining a fireing line and shooting at some one trying to take my guns. My concern is who am I going to be shooting at?? Is it going to be some group of National Guardsman sent down from Lansing, or is it going to be some Marine from our local detachment who was raised next door or some soldier from some other country?? I'm a WW!!/Koran veteran, I left the military in 1953 after nearly eight years service in the Army and Airforce with oversea's service in Europe. I've seen the recovery of our nation and the begining decline of it in the sixties until what we have now, the results of our elected officials more interested in Greed/Reelection then the oath they took when taking office.
I'll perform my duty on the fireing line to the best of my ability/s but maby I don't want to know who I'll be shooting at?!

The spirit of resistance, coupled with the availability of arms, brought us a million dead Americans in a war that, unless the last Civil War widow has finally passed away, taxpayers are still paying for. While I can certainly sympathize with the Southerners' love for their homeland, I question whether they may have been too quick to take up arms in a struggle that cost them everything they were fighting for, and more.
