“The same company that investigated Washington Navy Yard gunman Aaron Alexis for his security clearance also did a 2011 follow-up investigation of Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency systems analyst who leaked documents about the NSA,” reports CBS News.

Of course we all know what Snowden was able to do after passing his background check, but Alexis had access to the Navy Yard despite a checkered past of mental issues and behavioral problems. Ultimately, 12 people paid the price.
