The glass on the front of St. Louis Ink Tattoo Studio remains unbroken, despite the Dollar General store in the same strip mall falling victim to rioters. During the second night of rioting in Ferguson, Missouri, a group of shop owners took up arms and protected their businesses. Adam Weinstein, who owned County Guns, was concerned looters would try to steal firearms in his store. “We didn’t want them coming in here and then running around with a bunch of free guns,” he said. He and Mike Gutierrez, who owned the nearby tattoo parlor, stood guard during the night. Looters approached the businesses, but the armed men scared them off. Only after the looters moved away did two SWAT vans and two-dozen police cruisers show up. Seeing that all was peaceful in the strip mall, the police left.
