ABC’s “The View” is a talk show featuring a bunch of leftist women who gripe about politics and culture. Not usually our idea of entertainment. But when Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell argued over race, we grabbed the popcorn. The conversation started over Barack Obama’s story of having been mistaken for a valet driver – which he used to further his own race-bait narrative. The UK Daily Mail sets up the ensuing scrum: “Goldberg dismissed the confusion as one of stupidity, with Americans failing to identify the most important man in the country and the world. But when O'Donnell suggested racism may have been a key factor in the incident, Goldberg became enraged.” Goldberg screamed, “You are a white lady telling me what is racist to you!” O'Donnell replied, “I’m a gay American whose been called an [expletive]. I have a black kid at my house, Whoopi. I have a black kid I raise!” Goldberg rejected that argument as “not the same thing,” and O'Donnell in turn argued, “You don’t have to be black to know what racism is.” So here we have two leftist celebrities arguing over whose skin color entitles them to say what, perfectly illustrating the absurdity of identity politics.
