Not only did the Obama administration build a website that, to this day, still doesn’t work, that website has the potential to break the entire health insurance industry. Thanks, Obama. The problem is that while the website is pretty slick for consumers, it does a poor job communicating with insurance companies. “The ‘back end’ of the Obamacare website still isn’t properly wired to the health insurance companies,” reports Politico. “It’s slow going for health plans to make sure the 11.4 million people who have signed up end up in the right plan. Subsidy payments aren’t automated, so the insurers get payments based on estimates. And adding information like a marriage or the birth of a child is a convoluted, multi-step process.” The Washington Free Beacon reported last January that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services urgently warned that if this problem persisted until March 2015 it puts “the entire health insurance industry at risk.” Furthermore, there is no date for when the back end of the website will finally go up.
