The Patriot Post® · The UN Report on the Israel/Hamas Conflict Is Useless

The United Nations is done analyzing last summer’s conflict between Israel and Gaza and the report is predictably anti-Israel. The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board writes, “The bias begins with a preposterous claim that Israel continues to ‘occupy’ Gaza, despite its 2005 withdrawal, on the theory that Israel has the capacity ‘to send troops within a reasonable time to make its power felt.’ By that standard, the U.S. occupies Canada and the Bahamas.” Furthermore, Richard Kemp, a retired British Army colonel, wrote in The New York Times that the UN report was contradictory. It blamed Israel for civilian deaths, but no one on the Human Rights Council has military experience. They don’t know what is common in war. The report also glosses over the fact that Hamas used civilian areas as shields from where they launched attacks on Israel. The UN — particularly the Human Rights Council — is a complete farce. The U.S. should withdraw from the council. Ideally, the U.S. should withdraw from the UN entirely, but that’ll never happen.
