As a conservative gay man, I have to say I agree with you. I want to commend you especially for not tarring all gay people with the sins of a few fascistic activists. Gay people come in every kind of political, religious, and philosophical variety, just as straight people do. We do NOT all think alike, and we have zero control over what some self-appointed activist says "on our behalf".

In a free society, people should be free to think and say what they want -- as long as it's not criminal libel and it doesn't literally damage another's life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness.

Freedom includes the right to be ignorant and even a bigot, as long as one's ignorance doesn't tangibly hurt someone else. Freedom means I have a right to be gay and someone else has the right to disapprove, but neither of us is permitted to hurt the other. I think the Canadian policy is outrageous, an assault of freedom of speech and thought.

I agree with you - well stated. Having said that, I also want to say that what is offensive to me is having to listen to someone (of any persuasion) regaling me with their sexual leanings. Please, GLBT/straight, I don't want to know about you and your partner/wife/significant other. As someone who has worked as a hairdresser, I've known many gays. Back then (50 years ago), there didn't seem to be the militancy associated homosexuals as there is today. Personally, I don't care what you do, just be a good citizen.

Here! Here! I am not Homophobic. I am Homo Blabber Phobic. Come all ye weak of wrist and light of heel. Welcome! Luv yah! I have no trouble respecting you, privately. I have friends of your persuasion. I have friends who are Liberals and family who are outright communist. But the public square is a place where we must be free to bring our children. If you wish to return the respect you must lose the megaphone. 2 or 3% choose the "gay" life. Across the nation 4-5% of teens question their "orientation". But in San Francisco where y'all dominate almost everything THAT percentage is above 15%. Your clamor does have an effect and should cease.
