America is an idea. Ideas require thought. Thought produces action. Good thoughts produce good actions. Bad thoughts produce bad actions. You'll know a tree by its fruit, so says the Master.

Consider these thoughts.

When a large portion of America thinks the idea of America is:

  • legislating the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealth out of prosperity
  • receiving something without working, because another person works without receiving
  • that they do not have to work because the other half will take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that its no use to work, because somebody else will get what they work for
  • that the government can give to anybody anything because the government can first take from somebody else.
  • multiplying wealth by dividing it is a legitimate economic model

America is a divided nation. But the division isn't along economic lines. The division is determined by belief systems that filter how we perceive the world around us and in turn control how we think, feel and act.

If this were unique to America we would probably have little hope of getting this problem, this division figured out. But this particular struggle is as ancient as society itself. This struggle is between Good and Evil. More specifically the incompatibility of Good and Evil.

President Obama has been trying for four years to sell an evil and historically failed system of coercive government by whitewashing its intrinsic darkness in "shades of grey" through dishonest use of words. But if it is true that the "wicked strut about freely when what is vile is honored among men," the veil is being stripped away by the strutting vileness of groups embraced by the Democratic Party. Is it any wonder that their convention delegates, at least those honest enough to admit, rejected reference to God in the party platform, realizing the incompatibility of light & dark as oil to water?

We who love truth and good, who try to believe the best, who give the benefit of the doubt, who strive to be charitable and kind can no longer sit idly by watching in horror the antics of groups like Code Pink walking the streets dressed in vagina costumes or listening to the likes of Sandra Fluke, NARAL, or Kathleen Sebelius demagogue their "right" to have honest, truth loving Americans pay for licentiousness, or be lectured on tolerance by the most malevolent among us or feel the pain of an eroding economy via massive, nefarious spending and crushing regulations.

The most revealing question of the Democratic convention came from Bill Clinton: "what kind of America do we want to live in?" The question is troubling on so many levels:

  • troubling from the lips of a man who epitomizes disdain for truth
  • troubling that we've come to this: that we have to debate whether the future of America will reflect light or darkness, good or evil, life or death.
  • troubling that the debate can't be conducted from a fundamental commitment to the essential principles of liberty.

    • We have patiently waited for our brethren to come to their senses so that we might walk arm in arm down the path of truth carrying on honest debate about how we can preserve and promote life, liberty and our individual pursuit of happiness.

    My wife and I once owned property populated by a variety of fruit trees: pears, apricots, two varieties of cherries and apples. In the eight years we lived there the amount of fruit varied from growing season to growing season. But one thing never changed: the trees produced fruit after their kind! Cherries never produced pears, nor apples apricots.

    If we continue to plant envy, greediness, immorality, hypocrisy, indebtedness, corruption, unrighteousness, faithlessness, indolence, deceit, demagoguery, and every other sort of evil and think we can produce prosperity, peace, righteousness and truth or anything resembling the wonder of the historic American idea we are beyond hope of repair.
