What Can They Do for Me

· Friday, January 27, 2012

The act of communicating is perceived by most as a two-way path. I ask you a question, you provide me an answer. I write you a letter, I have a reasonable expectation that you will reply.

Among and between civilized humans this is the expected norm. However, politicians are NOT civilized or honorable members of humanity, nor are that segment of our society known as 'celebrity.'

A couple of current examples. Newt Gingrich has been confronted with his record of profligacy and unfaithfulness. Today there was a note in Parade that a formerly respected celebrity admitted that he had performed his task as a game show host while drunk. So what? He continued by noting that his co-hostess, Vanna White and he downed a few margaritas prior to going on stage. Damned ungentlemanly of him; if Vanna chose to reveal that tidbit of non-newsworthy trivia, fine. It was not Pat's right to divulge it.

So Pat Sajak communicated to his 'constituency' that he had the chutzpah to go in front of a television audience while inebriated. Not classy at all, but not important either. Do our elected representatives take their seat in the halls of Congress while inebriated? Or at the least hung over? Most likely. One thing is for certain, our elected servants who are abundantly remunerated and fawned over like gods and goddesses, ask us to write to them our concerns and points of view. We do so and seldom, if ever get any response and really nothing substantial.

I am unfortunate enough to be represented in the House by a Pelosi sycophant and in the Senate by two arch liberals, sycophants of his majesty, Obama. I still send them my comments and occasionally receive a form letter or a party-line response. They all have an excuse, "We are extremely busy and are unable to read all the mail, email, letters, and faxes. Then why do you persist in putting on your government-supplied 'Official' website, "Contact Me."

When I receive a communication from any candidate for any office, there is a request for support in the form of a "Your most generous donation." To make some begging letters appear to be important, there is a 'survey' attached with a long registration number and some coded information to make it appear important.

I used to respond and donate. I have ceased that wasteful practice and donate only to charitable causes, conservative causes, children's charities or Veteran's causes. Any left over is put aside to provide my Great Grandchildren some assistance in gaining a good education.

Plato advised, "Get involved in politics or end up being governed by inferiors." I have been involved since 1932 and damned if I have not ended up being poorly governed by liars, cheats, fornicators, and all manner of lesser beings.

Am I surprised? No! Disappointed? Yes! Am I quitting, hell no, not until the grave diggers throw dirt in my face.

Do I have a desire or wish? Yes, I should hope that America's female 51.5 % majority would have the effrontery to tell these strutting political peacocks to fold their tail feathers and let a real leader or leaders do the job. Michele, Sarah, Condoleeza, Frances are you listening? For another perspective, read at this link: http://artofmanliness.com/2011/06/17/how-to-write-your-congressman/

Along with the pathetic fact that people are inexperienced and naive enough to expect a reply from someone like an elected representative whose top priority is raising tons of cash for their next election, the content of their replies illustrates a sad fact. "To make some begging letters appear to be important, there is a 'survey' attached with a long registration number and some coded information to make it appear important."

Sadly, the same people who have a right to vote are so clueless as to fall for anything the has the appearance of being "official" such as serial numbers and codes of any kind. Publishers Clearing house has been taking advantage of all such suckers for decades. I've saved a gob of their mailings as stark evidence of all kinds of fakery. They're masters at it, but they wouldn't employ it if people were aware of how easily their unthinking-selves can be duped.

Many naive fools want to convince more citizens to vote. They should be working to convince more citizens to NOT vote because they are too stupid to understand how strongly unseen forces have worked to duped them and benefit from their ignorance.
