The Foundation
"It has been said that all Government is an evil. It would be more proper to say that the necessity of any Government is a misfortune. This necessity however exists; and the problem to be solved is, not what form of Government is perfect, but which of the forms is least imperfect." --James Madison
Liberty

"Over the past 14 months, our political debate has been transformed into an argument between the heirs of two fundamental schools of political thought, the Founders and the Progressives. The Founders stood for the expansion of liberty and the Progressives for the expansion of government. It's an argument that has been going on for a century but was largely dormant over the quarter-century of low-inflation economic growth that followed the Ronald Reagan tax cuts. It's been raised again by the expand-government policies of the Obama administration and Democratic congressional leaders. Those policies, thoroughly in line with the Progressive tradition, have been advanced by liberal elites in government, media, think tanks and academia. The opposition, roughly in line with the Founders tradition, has been led by the non-elites who spontaneously flocked to tea parties and town halls. ... The conservative rebellions of the late 1970s and middle 1990s were focused on taxes. The tea partiers are focusing on the expansion of government -- and its threat to the independence of citizens. ... By passing the stimulus package and the health care bills, the Democrats produced expansion of government. But voters seem to prefer expansion of liberty." --political analyst Michael Barone
Re: The Left
"The political issue rumbling toward both the Supreme Court and the electorate is whether Washington's size and power has finally grown beyond the comfort zone of the American people. That is what lies beneath the chatter about federalism and the 10th Amendment. Liberals will argue that government today is doing good. But government now is also unprecedentedly large and unprecedentedly expensive. Even if every challenge to ObamaCare loses in court, these anxieties will last and keep coming back to the same question: Does the Democratic left think the national government's powers are infinite? No one in the Obama White House, asked that in public on Sunday morning, would simply say yes, no matter that the evidence of this government's actions the past year indicate they do. In his 'Today Show' interview [last] week, Mr. Obama with his characteristic empathy acknowledged there are 'folks who have legitimate concerns ... that the federal government may be taking on too much.' My reading of the American public is that they have moved past 'concerns.'" --Wall Street Journal columnist Daniel Henninger
Government
"So, what is the impact on the deficit when the Senate health care bill, the reconciliation bill to fix the Senate health care bill and the bill to fix the phantom reductions in doctors' fees are all considered together? ... 'CBO estimates that enacting all three pieces of legislation would add $59 billion to budget deficits over the 2010-2019 period.' Rather than cut the deficit by $1 trillion over two decades as Obama claims, the full health care package increases the deficit by $59 billion over one decade. ... [T]he bill authorizes new discretionary spending that Congress will need to approve in future years to make sure the bureaucracies are in place to carry out the new plan. CBO estimates this will lead to 'at least $50 billion' in new spending over 10 years that was not included in the health care bill itself. ... Nor should Obama's socialized medicine plan be viewed in isolation from the rest of his budget. CBO says his fiscal 2011 budget proposal will increase the national debt by $9.8 trillion over the next 10 years. He is running a record $1.5 trillion deficit this year, and the smallest deficit he will ever run is $724 billion in 2014 -- the year his unconstitutional individual insurance mandate kicks in. After that, the deficit starts an unbroken climb, surpassing $1 trillion again in 2018 and heading ever higher. Just as Obama's claim that his socialized medicine plan will reduce the deficit by $1 trillion will be his defining lie, his legacy will be this: He bankrupted America." --CNSNews.com editor in chief Terence Jeffrey
The Gipper
"The fact is, we'll never build a lasting economic recovery by going deeper into debt at a faster rate than we ever have before. It took this nation 166 years until the middle of World War II to finally accumulate a debt of $95 billion. It took this [Carter] administration just the last 12 months to add $95 billion to the debt. And this administration has run up almost one-fourth of the total national debt in just these short 19 months. Inflation is the cause of recession and unemployment. And we're not going to have real prosperity or recovery until we stop fighting the symptoms and start fighting the disease." --Ronald Reagan
Faith & Family
"What's so disheartening about America's present political environment is that those in Washington are truly convinced that more and bigger government is America's primary solution for recovery, future growth and security. President Barack Obama even declared early in his presidency that 'only government' is our savior. Our Founders had a far better solution than only government. ... As proud as they were of their newfound republic, our Founders' trust and hope was not in government, but in God. For what? For most of the things that people today often look to government to provide: life, liberty, happiness, provision, salvation, decency, civility, morality, honesty, restraint, equity of power and future hope, to name a few. Tragically, in modern times, government has usurped God's role in our republic and Americans' lives. ... To our Founders, God was the source of our human rights, which put limits on government power. Even more, God was (and should be) the ultimate agent for national sustenance and renewal. That is why we are dreaming if we think we can correct the ills in ourselves, our government or our society without his aid." --columnist Chuck Norris

"Resurrection Day 2010: what a marvelous editorial piece. Absolutely the most uplifting reading I've seen in a long time. Thanks so much for your steadfast resolve to honor God and First Principles of the Founding Fathers." --Ken
"Thank you for your words of encouragement and reminders that no matter how dark the night, hope comes in the morning. Politically, that may or may not be true any more in our great nation; but eternally, we know it to be true and I deeply appreciate your commitment to absolute Truth. As the old hymnal says, 'this world is not my home, I'm just a passin' through.'" --Tim
"Thank you for your faithful witness and call to remember our Nation's Heritage, and the words of our Lord. Thank you for not compromising on either, as so many others do in their attempt to be politically correct. Your publication is a beacon of light on a hill." --Lyle
"Your comments about Jesus' prescription for caring for others being individual responsibility and not governmental is right on. There was nothing in the passage of the 'widow's mite' that put the government in between her and the poor box. Nor did the Good Samaritan deem it necessary to notify the authorities to take care of the man beset by thugs -- the example was of his own neighborliness. We won't get to heaven by giving government our personal responsibilities." --Tom
"Even though 'separation of Church and State' is not in the Constitution, that great document was carefully set up to make a secular government. Religion is a matter of private conscience, and government is a grim necessity for all. As an Agnostic I was willing to sign The Patriot Declaration because you used the non-believer-friendly 'Creator' and 'Nature's God' language from the founding documents. Please do keep in mind that there are a lot of us out here, and that solid allegiance to the Constitution does not require any kind of religious faith at all." --Craig
For the Record
"More than a year into his presidency and after imposing numerous delays on American energy production, President Obama announced ... that he would open up portions of the Outer Continental Shelf to offshore drilling. But the plan is defined more by what it restricts than what it opens up. The Obama administration chose to take off the table large portions of the OCS in an announcement that was supposed to be about expanding American energy. The new plan includes: No drilling in the Pacific Ocean. No drilling in a large portion of the Atlantic Ocean. No drilling in some of the most promising areas of the Gulf of Mexico. No drilling in much of Alaska. While opening up any portion of the OCS for responsible energy development appears to be a great step forward, the truth is that none of this has been finalized, and most new drilling will not occur until after 2012 at the earliest. The offering also comes with a hefty price: President Obama wants to force Americans to swallow a massive new energy tax before any state will reap the benefits from this new offshore drilling. The bill Mr. Obama urged Congress to pass last summer, the Waxman-Markey energy tax, would eviscerate the economy, killing more than one million jobs per year while raising the cost of energy for all Americans. If an energy tax passes Congress this year, the negative impact on the economy will happen long before the first oil comes from these new offshore leases." --Manager of Policy Research at American Solutions Steve Everley

Opinion in Brief
"Too little, too late, too clever and for the wrong reasons. That's a good way to describe President Obama's decision to allow a little offshore drilling. ... Obama justified his decision to allow drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, the southern Atlantic and some coastal regions of northern Alaska on the grounds that it would create jobs and serve as a 'bridge' to the carbon-free Brigadoon we've long been promised. The reality is that his decision was entirely political. Aiming to win vital Republican support in the Senate for some kind of bipartisan cap-and-trade legislation, he lifted the ban where the polling was in favor of doing so. Sound science, energy policy and economics were the last things on his mind. On that, there's widespread consensus. Back when oil cost $140 per barrel, President George W. Bush lifted the executive ban on offshore oil drilling. Once elected, Obama quietly reinstated it. Since then, Obama's Interior Department has been doing just about everything it can to slow, hamper and prevent oil and gas exploration in the U.S. and offshore. There's no reason to believe the administration won't keep doing that." --National Review editor Jonah Goldberg
Political Futures
"A top story on March 30 [was] that Arizona rancher Robert Krentz was apparently gunned down by an illegal immigrant. Krentz's family has maintained a ranch in southern Arizona since 1907, and he was known as a compassionate man who gave water and medical care to illegal immigrants crossing his land from Mexico. Krentz was found shot to death, slumped over his vehicle on his ranch. Police dogs tracked the shooter to the Mexican border 15 miles away, indicating that the shooter was almost certainly someone in this country illegally from Mexico. The murder of this good man casts in stark relief the outrageous failure of President Barack Obama and Secretary Janet 'the system worked' Napolitano to deal with the enormous problem America faces as a result of illegal immigrants. Perhaps if they weren't so busy taking over the economy (which the Constitution forbids them from doing), they'd actually secure the border (which the Constitution requires them to do). This outrage occurred just as the Obama administration plans on pivoting to the immigration issue, at the perfect time to try to create a wedge issue to scare Hispanics into voting Democrat in 2010 in order to mitigate the massive losses in Congress that Democrats are sure to suffer after more than a year of ramming through a far-left agenda with extreme partisanship." --columnist Ken Blackwell
The Last Word
"A few weeks ago, The New York Times ran an editorial noting the amazing fact that, by the middle of this year, there will be an estimated 6.8 billion people on Earth -- and 5 billion will have cell phones! ... How did that happen without a Democrat president and Congress using bribes, parliamentary tricks and arcane non-voting maneuvers to pass a massive, hugely expensive National Cell Phone Reform Act? How did that happen without Barney Frank and Henry Waxman personally designing the 3-foot-long, 26-pound, ugly green $4,000 cell phone we all have to use? How did that happen without Obama signing the National Cell Phone Reform bill, as a poor 10-year-old black kid who couldn't afford to text-message his friends looked on? The reason nearly everyone in the universe has a cell phone is that President Reagan did to telephones the exact opposite of what the Democrats have just done with health care. Before Reagan came into office, we had one phone company, ridiculously expensive rates and one phone model. Reagan split up AT&T, deregulated phone service and gave America a competitive market in phones. The rest is history. If you can grasp how inexpensive cell phones in a rainbow of colors and wonders like the iPhone could never have been created under a National Cell Phone Reform Act, you can understand what a disaster ObamaCare is going to be for health care in America." --columnist Ann Coulter

I continue to be frustrated by the “newspeak” used by the left. “Progressive” should be a term used for moving forward in a positive manner yet the left is far from progressive. They are regressive moving our country towards an aristocracy and far away from our republic. I have issues with the term “liberal” as well. Being liberal connotes being free, open and accommodating yet again, the left is far from either as they goose-step our citizens towards a fascist dictatorship.
Let’s call a “spade a spade” and have the leftists face up to their agenda. They want to rule the lives of every citizen. We’re supposed to do as they say, not as they do.
Sorry, it doesn’t work that way… “Don’t tread on me!”

Ann,
This so called health care reform doesn't do anything to help people who lost their insurance during this last year or two of job losses. So where is the promise of "help that will come to people who are sick and need health care now. That's another lie. Most people can't wait until 2014. And those who can will find out it does more harm than good. That is what kind of help and promises we all get from this administration. Pay more in taxes and get less for it, other than more government take over in our lives. God help America, we need it.

American citizens might just as well get accustomed to the fact that Obama is not going to do anything that will benefit this nation and its people that he basically despises. His every move has been toward something detrimental, both in the short and long term. Think I'm joking? Name one act of his that has benefitted our nation -just ONE! And just one question: why are none of our elected representatives planning to impeach him? Let's make it two questions: why has Congress not demanded that he present his real birth certificate? Congress forced Senator McCain to PROVE his American birth!

As a patriot and a conservative, I for one, am fed-up with the Pelosi-posse of Progressives who ignore the will and the welfare of the average working American. I am tired of the endless discussion which they ignore and continue ramming through their socialist agenda. It is time for direct action in opposition to their legislative actions. Come the 2010 elections, I pray for a national revolt at the voting booth.

I found the comment below by Craig logical, comforting, and offering me inclusion in the Patriot movement. Like many, I honestly struggle with the various and seemingly endless religious concepts offered by man, but respect those beliefs. I draw great comfort from our Constitution and the Constitutional process, regardless my concepts of God or Creator. I would expect no less from others in this movement.-- Thomas

Loved the cartoon in today's Brief! It's perfect. The first image that popped into my mind was of a carrot dangling at the end of a stick and thinking, 'who does he think he's fooling?'. After spending the weekend with family and friends, though, apparently he's fooling plenty. Thanks to sources like the Patriot Post, I was able to set them straight.

I have not seen any debate about using Roe v. Wade against Obamacare. Basically, Roe held that the Fourteenth Amendment's concept of personal liberty and restrictions upon state action was broad enough to encompass a woman's decision on aborting her child. If true, how can the federal government ration care? For example, we know the so called "death panels" are designed to create parameters on who gets what care. Therefore, an 80 year old man with a heart condition and early stage prostrate cancer will likely be denied a hip replacement. The argument that insurance companies already ration care is a red herring. The insurance company is telling the insured that they will not pay for a given procedure not that you are forbidden from having the procedure. The relationship between the company and the insured is contractual. In my opinion, the 80 year old has the same right to privacy found in Roe as the pregnant woman. Roe applied the right to privacy to abortion, however the key is the right to control your body. Obviously, more research would be needed on this issue. However, it appears that if Obamacare is upheld Roe is no longer valid law or if Roe is upheld Obamacare is unconstitutional.
Thank you,
Todd

Washington’s dictatorship now has its soiled grips on all corners of the country, as well as its clutches on all aspects of every citizen's life.
Washington and the Autocratic elitists that inhabit that large, now malfunctioning cesspool on the East coast keep taking, keep pushing, keep stealing, and keep forcing Americans to do what they dictate against their wills.
I want to see any of the autocrat's enforcers attempt to take my son(s) for not paying their "yearly communist membership fees" (Mandated Fees or Fines for Health Care) after a few years of non-payment.
If they attempt to enforce their illegal laws, there will be the maximum employment of second amendment rights from the entire, extended family. Maybe after this happens a few thousand times around the country, the Socialist autocrats will get the message?
Stay out of my life, out of my son’s lives, away from my constitutional rights, and away from my family!

The necessity of change is upon us. The moniker tea party is not really representative of the movement and it should be discarded and the term patriot Movement installed in it's place. The term Tea party, as has been pointed out is misnomer. Their has been little in the way of the original tea party in Boston connected to the current named Tea Party, of which I am a member since the beginning.
The term Patriot is much more descriptive and if a real Tea Party act develops or even many, then that can be properly described as such. Untill that transpires, Patriots we are and Patriotism we can be proud of.

This will probably be rated "blasphemous", but here goes. I'm old enough to remember when "Ma Bell" ran the show and I can tell you I saw nothing wrong with the system. First off, the service was great! If you had a phone problem a quick call to the company and a phone guy, usually a great guy - lineman type, would show up and fix it. Want a phone installed, not a problem we'll do it for you. Something not working right, not a problem our guy will be out right away to take care of it. That's the way it was! Don't let anyone con you into believing that the service was bad - it was good and EVERYTHING WAS INCLUDED in the monthly charge. So you didn't own the phone - big deal - who gets off on owning a phone? Oh, and a real advantage - you weren't surrounded by a bunch of "in touch" dweebs with a phone plastered to the side of their heads everywhere you went. Conversations were, of all things, private not broadcast throughout the theater or restaurant. Ugh.

Chuck Norris has it right; God is intimately tied to our Founding Fathers and to all of the American institutions from the beginning.
I am trying to get a book with original text of many of the Founders' intentions regarding almost all of our American institutions.
I am told that the left does not want this book read as it is plum full of irrefutable proof of America's Christian ties. This book set the precedent of our way of life with our Christian foundation at the forefront.
The book is titled 'The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States' by Benjamin F. Morris.
It has been out of print for a hundred years, but was printed in December 2009 in limited quantities at the cost of 39.99.
I am having trouble getting this book. One bookstore said they would order it for me for 289.00! Obviously, a large segment of our population wants this book to be kept in the dark recesses and out of sight.
It is said to be a comprehensive accounting of our founding and is a must read; if you can get ahold of it!
It will show how right on Norris is about God and America.

I was sent this Email by a friend of mine. The author is unknown.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgement to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made hime their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

My suggestion is to move UN headquarters to Jerusalem. That would give the diplomats a better view of the world situation than the ivory tower in New York which they currently occupy.
It would also lend some legitimacy to Jerusalem being an international city, free from the claims that have fomented wars for more than a thousand years, beginning with the Crusades and ending with Armageddon, the forerunner of which is brewing in that region as we speak.

"Just as Obama's claim that his socialized medicine plan will reduce the deficit by $1 trillion will be his defining lie, his legacy will be this: He bankrupted America." --CNSNews.com editor in chief Terence Jeffrey"
Obama did not bankrupt America, but he is certainly adding to it. Every previous president and congress that has spent our nation into the debt we now carry is just as responsible. This has been an incremental disease, and Obama and his supporters are just the bigger, badder germs.
Americans are poorly educated in American--meaning our politics, economy, and society. We have let congress and presidents get away from core values and principles. The blame for our debt is on us as citizens. Transfering that blame to politicians dimishes our individual accountability and therefore excuses individual political laziness and ignorance. We should have voted out the debt mongers long ago, but we didn't. Shame on us.
It is not too late. We can first reverse the spending trend, then eliminate deficit spending, then work on reducing the debt. It will take time, but if an individual family can get out of debt without bankruptcy, we should be able to direct our government to do the same. If we can't, the outcome will (and should) be the failure of government and our societal experiment. Painful, but necessary. Change is coming alright, one way or another.
Thank you for the consistent efforts the Patriot Post puts forth to educate us and encourage active participation in the process.

Ann,
The Democrats already have a "cell phone reform act". You must not have heard about it. It's called "SafeLink Wireless". Check it out at www.safelinkwireless.com.
In a nutshell "poor" people, who are already on other state and federal welfare programs, can apply to receive a free cell phone and about 70 minutes of airtime per month from TracFone Wireless, Inc., all paid for with "Obama money", and you know where that comes from.
Why do they get a free cell phone? Well, it's their right to have a cell phone, don't you know?

For Ken Clark's question above:
Technically, per U.S. Code Title 13, all the Census questions have to be answered honestly and without intent to provide false information. Failure to answer the questions is a violation of Federal Law (whether that law is constitutional is another question).
On my Census form I referred them to the phone book for my phone number, to the county tax records office for information about my home, to my IRS Form 1040 for information about how many dependents are in my home, and to my Social Security Administration Form SS-5 for all my information about race, sex, date of birth, etc.
The government already has all the information they need. I just told them, "honestly and without intent to provide false information", where they can go find it.

The President Reagan quote about the $95B National Debt was not directed against the Carter administration. It was, among other attributions, quoted in the "Time Magazine" on Monday, April 12, 1976 where in Reagan was referring to the then President Ford's administration. A URL to the article is: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,914019,00.html
It was a theme used in many of Reagan's speeches and may have been later used, with different dollar amounts when he ran against Carter.

"You give me a credit to which I have a justifiable claim in being calling 'the writer of the Constitution of the United States.' This document, like the fabled Goddess of Wisdom, is the offspring of primarily,a single brain, mine. Although many others were minimally involved, it was, again, primarily my effort that brought this document to fruition. It is a claim I shall carry with me to my grave." --"osama obama" who's response goes unchallenged by chris matthews and other members of the MSM.

Miss Ann,
Amen! How true!
I have a problem with how the mainstream media can continue to support this administration, supporting the growth and takeover of goverment.
My comfort is knowing that God is in control and the faith that He will rescue this nation from the current madness.
To God be the glory!

Why do leftist, who proclaim themselves to be so concerned for those in need, see more government as the only solution? Yet, Conservatives, who view government as but a necessary evil, are by far and away the greatest source of giving to those in need. Why do leftist only give under the force of government, while Conservatives give freely and willingly, from both the heart and the soul?
A thorough study of the monies given by individuals to charities, Christian and Jewish organizations and others will certainly show that such contribution exceed by enormous sums, that amount given by organizations headed and supported by leftists. Even much of the funds collected by leftist organizations were contributed to them by Conservatives.
And it is not just monetary contributions where Conservatives outnumber leftists. In physical assistance, Conservatives form the bulk work of those providing aid to those in need.
In the recent catastrophe in Hatti, muslims contributed little if any assistance. In addition to their refusal to provide monetary and physical assistance, they began a campaign of lies about the purpose of the Israeli medical mission in Hatti. And these are the people the leftists in our nation whine/LIE about being mistreated.

It doesn’t require an advanced degree in economics to understand the truth of President Reagan’s statement, “The fact is, we'll never build a lasting economic recovery by going deeper into debt at a faster rate than we ever have before”. Hey, you whiz kids in Washington, you’re sinking the ship on whose deck you stand.

Anyone can live high on borrowed money, temporarily. The trick is to live within your income and still live high. Too few people have mastered that and those who have, obviously are not in Congress but should be.
The IRS and all federal subsidies should be eliminated. This should just about balance out and at the same time, force congress and those who live off of them to go to work.

Each time I read the essays and briefs, I am both reassured and apprehensive...reassured because there are thinking people in our nation who are willing to take necessary steps to preserve our nation; apprehensive because there are powerful people in high places in government who seem willing to throw the Constitution to the wolves.
And each time I read "Notes from the Gipper" I ask myself, "Where is our next Ronald Reagan? Will he appear in time to defeat Obama, as the original RR defeated Carter?" Pray God someone is out there with his talents who is willing to take on the major task of turning us around to sanity!

I like Ann Coulter, but it seems like she just put the Gipper in a time machine.
The Ma Bell breakup was started in 1974 and finalized in 1982. So it was only finished on Reagan's watch.

I am 70, Ret. CPO, USN, and I remember when MA Bell ruled the phone lines. My family didn't even have a phone until sometime after I left for the Navy in June,1958. In the Navy I was an IC Elect., and guess what one of the things was that I installed and maintained? You're right; Telephones. The (last word) said that this year there will be 6.8 billion people, and 5 billion will have Cell Phones, well here I go again, because that puts me in the minority. Right, I don't own a Cell Phone. There is a regular phone in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and one in the living rm., with an ANSWERING MACHINE, for when we're not at home. Plan on going to my grave without ever owning a Cell Phone. They can give out all the free ones they want. I don't want one of them. I made it for 70yrs. this way, some of it without a phone, because the only place you could call on a Navy ship, at sea, was somewhere else on that ship. Called home when we entered port or just wrote letters. But, I did get to visit a lot of places that I would not have seen if I hadn't joined the Navy, and given them 20yrs. PATRIOT POST___KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

(Ret.) Lt. Cmdr. Walter Francis Fitzpatrick is now a political prisoner in the Tennessee Monroe County Sheriffs Jail and has been since 04/01/2010. This Court is now the poster child for political corruption and Mr. Fitzpatrick has made a gallant effort to expose this abomination. Mr. Fitzpatrick has been arrested for exercising his Constitutional rights, but because his actions would expose the corruption within the Monroe County Court House the officials involved have had Mr. Fitzpatrick put in jail. They are operating outside their own rule of law.

To Kenneth Harrell: On a related note I needed some work done recently and called a good friend (liberal) who has done this work for me in the past. While he tested things I asked him how the Health Bill (he supported) will affect his business. He responded he wasn't sure but of the three he employed only one currently didn't have insurance. He then stated he wished he could do something to help the third. "So why don't you?, I asked. "You know, give him a raise or flat out just offer to help pay all or part of the premiums." He responded with: "I can't afford it and my business can't afford it. Besides the health care bill will take care of him." "So," I said, "You're willing to have taxes raised, take money out of my pocket to pay for insurance for your employee whom you wish you could help but won't. Please tell me what is fair about that?" I did not get a response other than him saying we shouldn't discuss politics.

God bless you for proclaiming the Easter message of salvation through the risen Christ. All Christians are commanded to preach the gospel, both in season and out of season;to let our light shine throughout a stricken world, for God is not willing that any should perish, but wants all to come to repentance and faith in His Son. Believers are called upon to share His saving grace with everyone, and we're not excused from doing so because some object to hearing the truth. There was a time when many among us didn't want to hear it, either - including me -and I'm thankful that someone cared enough for my eternal soul to stand fast and persist in spite of my open hostility. Don't let the naysayers, agnostics and atheists back you down and shut you up. The most priceless gift in the world is the gospel message of forgiveness and reconciliation with God, the Father, through Jesus Christ, His Son, who died to save us from sin and death - and raise us, immortal, to everlasting life. Keep marching. Semper Fi, Chuck

The cost of a monthly I-Phone bill could go a long way towards paying for a person's health care coverage but do we expect them to do without? Of course not. Keep you cell, PDA, I-Pad, cable, high speed internet and the rest. There are plenty of suckers out there who we will force to pay for your health care even if it means they themselves must do without.

As always, spot on, up until the quote by Anne Coulter. Regan's Justice Dept. did oversee the end of the breakup of AT&T. Where she got things wrong was AT&T was supportive of the breakup. They owned Unix and other computer patents that they could not profit from because of their monopoly status as a phone company.

Obama's baseball toss.... won't bother calling it a pitch, but it was perfect, par for the course, and indiciative of his legacy: High (think spending) and Left (think socialist). Perfect.

While I spent 4 years in the USMC making sure that all Americans enjoy the freedom to believe what they will......I often get perplexed that the very people that I served to have freedom available to, choose to be bound in the notion that God did not and does not sovereignly over see and protect this great country.
I feel great remorse for the Agnostics and Atheists as they are living proof that people can be educated past their level of understanding.
I'll pray for your enlightenment......Ed R.

Re: GOVERNMENT - Are we missing something (I hope you’re ready for a little sarcasm with a little truth)?! Maybe the cost will turn out to be far less than we anticipate (at least in the 10 year bubble that has been arbitrarily chosen). The genius of the plan is that the lapse in government coverage until 2014 will allow all the old and sick people to die off. Then early government outlays will be much less than if they all survived till 2014. That’s better than doing the Christian thing and helping those needy people, right?!
Bankrupting healthcare while safeguarding your loved ones: can anyone confirm this - it has been reported that those in a health cost sharing plan are exempt from the mandatory requirement. Is that true? Christians, I'm looking into Samaritan Ministries - http://www.visionforum.com/hottopics/articles/2005-09-30_001.aspx . Any thoughts from all you superior thinkers?

That last thought was a little dumb. Sorry! ObamaCare doesn't need any help in going bankrupt. It was bankrupt before it was even passed.

As mentioned in several of the posts above, much of worries needs to be directed at citizenry that elected President Obama. There was no true vetting of this candidate, no inquiries about his relationships with questionable characters that he has surrounded himself with in the Whitehouse and his mental ability to be our president.
Our only hope is that the electorate will wake-up, get educated and get this man as well as all the other liberals out of office before we end up as a socialist state. This has to be done in the next several election cycles. If not, people become complacent and ignore the danger that surrounds them.

The Last Word article, Aptil 5 issue, by Ann Coulter is filled with so many errors of fract, false information, and ignorance that I must comment. While I think R. Regan was the best president, and also the best Ca governor, he ldid not have anything to do with the deregulation of the telephone industry. The process was started by the AG of the prior administration. R. Regan tried to stop the trial, but the court said that the case was to far along to stop. There are many other problems with the content of the article to go into.

Bernie Madoff vs. The Government
It is being reported that this month the federal government's SS ponzi scheme finally goes from black to red; i.e., more money is being paid out than is coming in!
The good news: No more will the federal government be able to spend the SS excess on other excesses.
The bad news: SS is now one of the excesses that can no longer pay for itself.
The really bad news: The federal government ponzi schemers are still on the loose, with Obamacare in the bag, and cap & trade on the way.

As I read your Easter letter I thought of the book of Ruth where the farmer is to go into his field and harvest his crops, but then to leave what is on the trees for the widows, orphans, and strangers to the land (those who could not help themselves--the needy). Nowhere in the book does it say the farmer had to go back, pick the remaining fruit, take it home, prepare it, and then deliver it to the needy. There is a certain amount of work and personal responsibility in order to survive. Our government (Obama) wants us to deliver the food to them without any work.
Also, hidden in the ObmamCare bill were two pages that establish a 6,000 "civilian military" force to be used as the President determines. Wouldn't we have been better off to take those 6,000 jobs and using them as part of the Boarder Patrol to protect our borders from illegal aliens sneaking into this country? Thanks for being a light shining in the darkness.
