The Republicans must be quick to establish the freemarket replacement for ObamaCare. The Republican proposals for personal, transportable Health Savings Accounts paired with less expensive high deductible insurance plans sold nationwide in a competitive market without State restrictions have been pushed aside by the major media. The Democrat sound bites that the Republicans have no solution are replayed ad nauseum. It is hard to make the message heard through all the democrat clutter but it is essential that the Free Market solution not be trampled by a leftist push for a single payer system. The only way to get competition in the marketplace, and have hundreds of thousands of providers and suppliers competing on the basis of quality, price, accessibility and service is to empower patients to make their own choices using their own tax free money. As a physician, I give the best rate to cash customers and those with HSA's are using their own tax deductible cash to shop for the best price on elective services. I do the same with my HSA when I need healthcare. The only way to bring down costs is to put the cost back into the competitive marketplace. HSA's and High Deductible Insurance Plans in a Nationwide Competitive market. Add in Tort reform and you have a vibrant, competitive market that will meet the needs of the nation and allow us to focus on a maedical safety net for the truly needy. If and when the Republicans get the ball back, they better be ready to run with it!
