Special Edition
Resurrection Day 2012
The Foundation
"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian." --George Washington
Notes to Our Readers
In observance of Good Friday and in celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we take leave from the rigors of analyzing the week's news, policy and opinion in order to focus on an eternal message. To our readers of faiths other than Christianity, we welcome you to read on, and we hope that this edition serves to deepen your understanding of our faith -- the faith of so many of our Founders. To all of our readers, we wish God's blessing and peace upon you and your families.
Second, don't miss Mark Alexander's essay, 'Jesus Was a Commie'?, which takes on the prevailing opinion on the Left that Jesus advocated socialist redistribution.
Finally, on a business note, if any of our readers will be hosting a table at next weekend's NRA convention in St. Louis, Missouri, we would like to provide Essential Liberty Guides to be placed at a corner of that table. If you are able and willing, please contact us at info@patriotpost.us -- thanks!
He is not here. He is risen. The Good News
"Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.' So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, 'Greetings!' And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him." --Matthew 28:1-9

Chuck Colson -- Resurrection Hope: Jesus and Scripture
"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic -- on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg -- or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." --British author C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)

Especially this week, observe that "Good Friday" is the 6th day of the week, Jesus "rested" in His tomb on the 7th-day Sabbath (upholding the 4th of the Ten Commandments, Jn.14:15), and was up and back at work on Sunday the first day of the new week. "Christian" Sunday observance is of pagan/Roman origin officially from 321 AD.

"For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Romans 5:6-11"[Righteousness] shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification." Romans 4:24-25(from the New King James Version translation)Another thought - this has powerful implications for the way we treat each other. Has someone sinned against you? Christ died for that sin also. So if we insist on exacting vengeance for a wrong, we deny that Christ's atonement for that sin was sufficient. This is not to say justice should not be carried out, but it should be through the instruments God has ordained for that purpose- by parents within a family, or by duly constituted government in society at large. But individually, we must forgive as God has forgiven us.

God Bless you Bob Wilson Sr. Jesus will accept you in any condition, frame of mind or your past. The important thing is, You are Ready. We have alot of false prophets out there who are spouting their support of the New World Religion, called Chrislam. what did I miss, I've always believed that Islam was a political movement under the guise of religion.

For quite a few years, I lived and worked in an old small town (PO opened in 1832, 5,000 registered voters). On Good Friday, nearly every business (PO excepted) closed in order to allow us all to attend services. While some chose not to attend, we all respected those who did and the occasion they observed.A way of life too easily forgotten.

:RE: Editors, was Y'shua Ben Yosef a Commie?mat 25 Jas CHpt 2. acts. In acts the early church taught something called (early church communism.) Ask your religous leaders. they also practiced, dare I say it, a communal form type of living. What does it mean for you? (Working out your salvation daily with much fear and trembling. We may not agree on everyth8ng but when it comes to personal beliefs, it is refreshing to see someone willing to take a stand. Keep it up and never look back. Let the dead bury the dead.

Thank you very much for today's "Easter edition" commentary. In my opinion, the one thing that will heal our country is a return to our Christian heritage. I enjoyed and appreciate very much your words on "Resurrection."
