STAFFORD, Va. – In this season of Thanksgiving, we have so much for which to be thankful. Among our great blessings is the continuing unprecedented shuttering of Planned Parenthood facilities across the nation.

Preliminary results of STOPP’s annual survey of Planned Parenthood facilities are now available and the news is astounding! Planned Parenthood, for the second year in a row, is operating fewer facilities than it has since the Roe v. Wade decision was handed down in 1973!

Planned Parenthood is now operating 668 clinics, down from 695 at the end of 2013. Planned Parenthood has closed or announced the imminent closure of 34 facilities, while it opened seven new ones, for a net loss of 27 clinics in 2014—with over a month left until year’s end.

Pro-life advocates across the country have ramped up the fight against Planned Parenthood exponentially in recent years. There are many efforts and groups that have had a hand in bringing about the closures, from on-site prayer and sidewalk counseling to community activism, legislative and educational efforts, defunding, and much more. STOPP has been on the front lines of the fight against Planned Parenthood since 1986. In 2009, it occurred to us, after much prayer and examination, that Planned Parenthood will not be eradicated until the battle is turned over to Our Lady.

Planned Parenthood kills over 300,000 babies a year in its own facilities. Former Planned Parenthood clinic director, Abby Johnson, who is now pro-life, has revealed that Planned Parenthood aggressively pushes abortions simply as a way to make money.

To kill babies simply to make a profit is pure evil. It is truly the work of Satan. How do we combat such evil?

The answer, of course, is “with God.” Jesus has conquered sin in this world through His suffering and death. We need to bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood facilities. To understand how we are to do this, we need to look at how God the Father brought Jesus to us.

In God’s perfect plan, Jesus came into the world through Mary. Therefore, if we truly want to bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood facilities, we need, first, to take Mary there. We follow the lead of St. John Paul II who said, “O Mary, bright dawn of the new world, mother of the living, to you do we entrust the cause of life.”

So we began our Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary campaign in 2009, with an official launch in 2010. The simple campaign consists of consecration of the battle against Planned Parenthood to Mary and the praying of designated prayers and the Rosary at Planned Parenthood facilities—keeping an image Our Lady front and center.

The results are nothing short of miraculous. During the 13 years from December 31, 1995, through the end of 2008, Planned Parenthood closed 125 facilities—an average of 9.6 per year. But during the comparatively brief five-year period from January 1, 2009, through today, 145 Planned Parenthood clinics have shut down. That’s an average of 24 per year!

Whatever the reason given by the abortion giant, the bottom line is that, with every Planned Parenthood closure and with every expulsion of Planned Parenthood from a community, women, children, and families are spared the destructive forces that surround and emanate from Planned Parenthood—the forces that poison and destroy communities and steal souls as they dig deeper and deeper into the hearts and minds of young people. With Our Lady in the lead, those who work together to oppose Planned Parenthood at every turn will not fail in our mission to rid the world of the blight that is Planned Parenthood. To Jesus through Mary—this is the way we stop Planned Parenthood!
