Amanda Knox: The New Mumia!
Despite liberals' desperate need for Europeans to like them, the American media have enraged the entire nation of Italy with their bald-faced lies about a heinous murder in Perugia committed by a fresh-faced American girl, Amanda Knox.
The facts aren't elusive: In December 2009, the Italian court released a 400-plus page report detailing the mountains of evidence that led the judges and jury to conclude that Knox, along with her Italian beau, Raffaele Sollecito, and a petty thief of her acquaintance, Rudy Guede, had murdered Knox's English roommate, Meredith Kercher, on the evening of Nov. 1, 2007.
Now liberals are howling that the DNA evidence was "contaminated," but they always say that. It wasn't. And the DNA was already thoroughly vetted at trial.
Nonetheless, let's consider only a tiny slice of the evidence available to the police in the first week after the murder -- long before any DNA tests came back.
Murders and murder convictions obviously occurred before 1986 -- the first time DNA was used in any criminal investigation -- so it is possible to establish guilt with no DNA at all.
Knox's first-of-several alibis for the night of the murder was that she was at her boyfriend (and co-defendant) Sollecito's house all night, sound asleep until 10 a.m. the next morning.
A few days later, when that was proved false by telephone records, eyewitnesses and Sollecito's admission that it was a lie, Knox claimed she was in the house during Meredith's murder ... and she knew who the murderer was!
She said it was her boss, Patrick Lumumba, the owner of a popular bar in town:
"He wanted her. ... Raffaele and I went into another room and then I heard screams. ... Patrick and Meredith were in Meredith's bedroom while I think I stayed in the kitchen. ... I can't remember how long they were together in the bedroom, but the only thing I can say is that at a certain point I remember hearing Meredith's screams and I covered my ears. ... I can't remember if Meredith was screaming and if I heard thuds but I could imagine what was going on."
Solely because of Knox's claim that Lumumba murdered Meredith, he was arrested and sat in jail for two weeks before being released when the police discovered about a hundred eyewitnesses who could place him at his bar all night, the night of the murder.
If the police were intent on framing Knox for the murder, they were easily distracted by this wild goose chase.
Knox later said she falsely accused Lumumba only because the police wanted her to do so.
But absent Knox's false accusation, there would have been no reason for the police to consider Lumumba a suspect in the first place. He was a successful entrepreneur in Perugia, married with a child, and had no connection whatsoever to the murdered girl.
Knox's effort to frame an innocent man was nothing but a desperate attempt to throw suspicion off herself. In the process, she inadvertently revealed that she knew something only the police knew about the murder: that Meredith had also been sexually assaulted.
Police first came to the house the day after the murder to investigate a burglary in the bedroom of another roommate, Filomena Romanelli, that had been reported by Knox and Sollecito.
But the break-in turned out to be staged. Among many other reasons, glass from the broken window was on top of the piles of clothes thrown on the floor. (Always remember to break the window before trying to stage a burglary!)
Also, nothing had been stolen from Filomena's room. Of course, that wasn't known by anyone except the fake "burglar" until Filomena returned and determined her jewelry and other valuables were still there.
So it is especially telling that when Sollecito had called the police to report the "burglary" in two separate, recorded phone calls, he said nothing had been stolen -- despite the fact that Filomena had not yet come home. The only way Sollecito would know nothing was stolen was if he had helped stage the burglary himself.
Also highly suspicious, when the police first arrived and Knox was the only roommate there, she lied to them, driving them away from Meredith's locked bedroom door by assuring them that Meredith always locked her door, even to go to the bathroom.
So the police continued to investigate the alleged burglary and ignored Meredith's room, until Filomena arrived, found out Meredith's door was locked and demanded the police break it down, telling them -- contra Knox -- that Meredith never locked her door.
Everyone in the apartment -- the police, Filomena and her friends -- gathered around Meredith's door before it was kicked in. Everyone, that is, except Knox and Sollecito, who moved as far away as possible, to the other end of the apartment, strangely uninterested in seeing what was behind Meredith's door.
Now Knox is back to claiming she was in Sollecito's apartment all night on Nov. 1 -- with no evidence to support that story, but witnesses, phone and computer records contradicting it. Her only alibi witness is her co-defendant, Sollecito, and he's already told the police that he has lied for her.
Based on the wounds on Meredith's body, investigators conclusively determined that she had multiple attackers.
By now, the only people who believe Knox and Sollecito are the usual criminal apologists and their friends in the American media.
From Tawana Brawley, Mumia and the Central Park rapists, to the Duke lacrosse players and Karl Rove, liberals are always on the wrong side of a criminal case. A few times could be a coincidence; every time is evidence of a psychological disorder.
As described in "Demonic," liberals defend the guilty and impugn the innocent not only because they side with barbarians, but because a fair and just system of law challenges their hegemony as judges of the universe.

And this is why we must be very careful to not allow liberals to gain power. They do not care about truth or justice. They care only for power to even kill you if you do not toe the line as they see it. That liberals will maintain their positions in the light of evidence pointing 180 degrees opposite proves that they are not fair, just, balanced, reasonable, rational, or even sane.

Not allow them to gain power? These psychopaths have been taking over American institutions, destroying American values, and undermining our liberty for decades. The totalitarian temptation has grown virtually unabated until the Tea Party started to wake real Americans to the peril. The Constitution used to represent islands of power in a sea of individual liberties. Now sophistic interpretation has twisted it to representing a sea of government power with islands of liberty that are constantly under threat of being washed away. The real question is whether the statist cancer can be excised by the people using only peaceful means.

You are obviously so biased and ignorant regarding this case, as to not be able to see that it is not only "liberal" Americans who know that this has been a biased case full of slander and lies against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. The Italian press has followed it too and the case was allowed to be contested because that is how the Italian legal system works. In fact many people her on the right support the idea that it was a set up. I have followed the case since it first broke in Italian and in the English press. There are many reasons to believe that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito are completely innocent and not connected to the case in any shape or form. You mention nothing of the fact that both of their rights were abused during the interrogations, that she was set up by the police to point a finger at Lumumba, that the police beat Lumumba who is too afraid to say anything about it within Italy as he would be prosecuted for saying something he could not prove, that the press has been intimidated for years into not fully reporting the truth. The murder of Meredith is a terrible and brutal crime, but it will never be made up for by the illegal detainment of innocent people. there is a huge problem with the fact that the Italian Judiciary system is lacking limits and that it leads to abuse. As in the USA there are serious problems and this is a poster child case of those problems. I would hope that you would do more research before you protect someone who brutally murdered a poor woman, by saying that someone who cannot be tied to the crime with motive or physical evidence did it.

@ Sienna Reid: "You mention nothing of the fact that both of their rights were abused during the interrogations, that she was set up by the police to point a finger at Lumumba, that the police beat Lumumba who is too afraid to say anything about it within Italy as he would be prosecuted for saying something he could not prove, that the press has been intimidated for years into not fully reporting the truth." None of which contradicts the facts of the case or the chain of evidence, which points in every way to Knox.

Okay, Sienna: Knox lied about her alibi. She lied about a burglary. Shen knew facts about the crime police had not released. Her boyfriend lied about his alibi. Her boyfriend lied about a burglary. Knox's DNA is present on the murder weapon. Knox may be innocent, but her actions are not the actions of an innocent person. Innocent people get confused. Innocent people contradict themselves, but innocent people cannot lie about a crime they did not commit.

Sienna: You state there are many "reasons" to "believe" that Amanda is innocent. The reasons you list support only a theory that the police play by different rules than we like to expect in the U.S. None of the reasons refutes any of the facts that Ann lists. I'm not familiar with the case. Can you state one fact that would prove Amanda isn't guilty? Just one?I suppose one could "believe" anything they want. But there must be facts to convince me.

I think Ann Coulter has chosen the wrong case to castigate socialists with.It is a bad choice for any number of reasons, some are as follows. The Italian police investigation was a complete cock up,( cross contamination of forensics) UK and USA standards of evidence gathering were and still are sadly lacking. The juridical proceedings are arcane and prone to corrupt influences. The prosecutor was at the time under investigation for corrupt practices. There has been some evidence to suggest from the prosecutors that they disapproved of Perugia students life styles and wanted to make examples of Knox and Sollecito. This attitude can cloud proper judgement in pursuit of truth.Knox's confused evidence giving is to be expected from students engaging in a louche life style. Was she fit for interview when interviewed or 'under the influence'.Ann Coulter did not give enough credit for confusion in an inexperienced youngster suddenly confronted in a foreign jurisdiction (non Anglo Saxon) with a charge of murder. Remember also that one Rude Guede has admitted the crime and had his sentenced reduced for implicating Knox and Sollecito. Guede has 'previous' for breaking into a females apartment in Rome.I think when all is said done it will be shown that a miscarriage of justice has occurred here, which will reinforce the existing perception that the Italian justice system leaves an awful lot to be desired.

She is guilty! Circumstancial evidence is evidence. The only wrong fact this report has is that police went to the house to investigate Meredith stolen phones. (They found them in another house)

@freepeoples: there is an appropriate line in Simon and Garfunkel's song The Boxer: " all lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest." You think that all you have to do is repeat utter nonsense and that's it! Like, 'the italian police investigation was a complete cock-up"; but only for K and S. Obvioulsy, it was OK to convict Guede. The italian judicial system is arcane? How is it arcane? Apart from you just saying so? Unlike the US and UK legal systems it affords 3 bites at the cherry which your dear K and S have taken advantage of and all judgements have to be justified and in writing. In the first trial 400 pages fully deatiling the guilty verdict! The prosecutor was not corrupt. In fact he was charged for over-reaching his authority in the searc for truth. And nothing could be more ridiculous than your allegation about students behaviour being a concern for the police.Knox could not be the murderer; she is white, young somewhat attractive and of course AMERICAN. How could she be guilty? Although it seems quite capable of fingering an innocent man.Guede was intially sentenced to 30 years in his first trial. This was then reduced to 24 years in line with K and S. Guede got a third reduction off his sentence for fast-tracking his trial, akin to your 'plea-bargaining'. So his sentence was reduced by 8 years to the now 16 years. Not for implicating K and S which he did in the appeal. The only miscarriage of justice in this case is the bias, ignorance and sheer arrogance displayed by the US media and the pro-Knox supporters. Notice, how it's about freeing Know and not S and G.If i had to choose between the US and Italian systems I know which one I would choose. Just ask Knox; in the US she would be on death's row for much less.

I am as liberal as they come but I've always been a proponent Knox's guilt. I really don't think it's an issue of democrat versus republican. What is is an issue of the American media not doing its JOB of REPORTING news events in an unbiased manner. Instead, the media simply misrepresents the facts to package and sell the best and most interesting "story." The media is hungry for interviews and exclusives, and of course, Knox's family will only give interviews to friendly (read: pro-Amanda) news sources. Besides the horrible loss of life inflicted upon Meredith Kercher, the innocent true VICTIM of this case, the lies told by her family, PR company, supporters, and the American media to an unsuspecting and naive American public are a second injustice of this case.If you think the media offer fair and accurate reporting, I'm afraid you are sadly mistaken, and this case is perfect proof my friends.

Ann, I wonder how a woman as intelligent as you are can continue to bash "liberals" as if there were such a thing. What you're bashing is a bogeyman of your own creation, because if you look around and listen at all you find that people tend to be individuals with complex differences. Which is how it is that Glenn Beck thinks Amanda Knox is innocent, whereas I agree with you that the American reporting about this case has been pretty bad, and that Amanda Knox looks guilty by all the evidence, and should be held accountable. Yet I revere the Roosevelts (especially Eleanor) and Martin Luther King, and hope Social Security is still around when I retire. I know you consider yourself a patriot, so I'd like to ask--do you imagine this nation was founded on the basis of hate speech? Thomas Paine and Benjamin Franklin were opposed to the British, passionately opposed, but they didn't start and end every day and every page of writing by calling the British names and spewing contempt. They were busy trying to imagine a better way to do things; they couldn't indulge in hatemongering, they had a nation to build. Whereas you, I sometimes think, couldn't get out of bed in the morning if you couldn't start the day with a jolt of contempt for "liberals"--and as a lifelong liberal, I have to laugh when I hear what you imagine about us. You don't know the type. You know some of our silliest ideas and worst tendencies, and I sometimes enjoy your skewering liberals when you have a more or less reasonable point, but you don't know that we disagree with each other, that we're diverse and human, just like conservatives. And that some good things have come out of liberalism, just as some good things have come out of conservatism. Regimes that use your kind of cartoonish scapegoating as a foundation--Nazi Germany comes to mind--don't last. "Ooh, ooh, let's all fear and hate the evil bogeyman!" is not a solid basis for a nation's sense of its character and purpose. It's not enough to be against, you have to be for something. Our founders were more even-keeled and truly perceptive than a lot of our current political pundits, which I think is one reason why this nation has lasted as well as it has for as long as it has. And I hope smart people like you will get more interested in the challenges of creating something good, rather than the cheaper thrills of spewing contempt for people you don't even bother to understand.

Ann Coulter’s defense of injustice in Perugia runs counter to the counter to those of Patriot Post restoring limits on government. She covers for the liars and disinformers in law enforcement in Italy as well as the papratizi press that so smeared the defendants that no fair trial was possible.Belatedly there has been voices of reason . BREAK OUT YOUR GOOGLE TRANSLATOR AND SEE WHAT THEY ARE SAYING IN ITALY. IN ENGLISH READ http://perugiashock.com/2011/09/07/hellmann-enough-for-us/ ITS WRITTEN BY AN ITALIAN.THESE PEOPLE BELOW AREN’T ALL BIG MEDIA TALKING HEADS. THEY ALL SAY SHE IS WRONG: Doug Preston (Author and commentator for CBS )"This is a case based on lies, superstition, and crazy conspiracy theories and that's it." Paul Ciolino (private investigator retained by CBS)"This is a lynching ... this is a lynching that is happening in modern day Europe right now and it's happening to an American girl who has no business being charged with anything." Tim Egan (Pulitzer Prize winner and NY Times correspondent)"The case against Knox has so many holes in it, and is so tied to the career of a powerful Italian prosecutor who is under indictment for professional misconduct, that any fair-minded jury would have thrown it out months ago." Peter Van Sant (CBS News Correspondent)“She’s [Amanda’s] an innocent woman. And I would stake my reputation as a journalist on that and I have been in this business for a quarter century.” John Q. Kelly, nationally known attorney (Larry King Live 7-Dec-09)“There’s been injustice here. There’s been injustice in other countries but this is just beyond the pale Larry... the manipulation of evidence; the most unfavorable inferences drawn from the most common of circumstances and conduct was just a gross injustice here.” Steve Moore (Retired FBI Agent – 25 years)“The physical evidence against Amanda and Raffaele is wrong, contrived, misinterpreted, and (to put it kindly) misstated. The other “evidence” is made up of (embarrassingly naïve) hunches and bias. The “DNA” evidence is particularly inaccurate. The alleged motive and modus operandi of Knox/Sollecito is so tortured (and constantly-changing) that it defies belief.”* S. Michael Scadron, retired U.S. Dept. of State trial attorney (Christian Science Monitor)"Despite all the discussion about evidence, this case has never been about the evidence. This case has always been about a corrupt public minister hell bent on restoring his sullied reputation and saving face. Amanda became his prize demon and Raffaele was simply collateral damage. We've had our witch hunts in the USA and boy oh boy, this one's a doozy."How can you come to any other conclusion when presented with the 400 PAGE Massei Report explaining the guilty verdict? It relied on hypothetical facts. It came to conclusions contradicted by evidence presented to the court. She condones 3rd degree interrogations bypassing safeguards such as audio and video recordings as was done to both Amanda and Raffaele. She lets law enforcement get away with labeling guilt before seeing forensic evidence. Had they done that Lumumba would never have been arrested. Amanda Knox is innocent.

@BarryT:You forgot to include in your impressive list of authors Curt Knox, Dianne Knox and Edda Meles. You illustrate the very point Coulter was making: the blatant mis-represenations, distortions and bias of the US media in defending the indefensable that the love birds are innocent despite the Mt everest of evidence. Although in your case you would say this is fabricated. And what is noticeable, is the absence of detail and supporting evidence to prove your point, other than to accuse and denegrate the italian legal system that not only have they got it wrong but also they staged all of this.Guede stated that they were there; one person could not have killed Meredith. Bud, do the maths, the love birds were there.I'm just waiting for the explosive witness who comes forward and says that Knox was in Seattle on that night!Tell me BarryT how is the Knox PR coming along?
