Well written, Michelle. PDK, your reference to Stalin, read on Christmas, depresses me. The quip from the peasant woman you quoted could have come from one of my relatives. In the late '40's Stalin ordered the deaths of millions of Poles, Lithuaians, etc.. They were packed into boxcars, sent to Siberia, andturned loose onto the tundra to die. My dad and his brother were here, but spent the rest of their lives trying to find their family. With the fall of the USSR I was able to go there and search the records. I have seen the bones on the tundra. Any reference to or thought of Stalin makes my blood boil. Unfortunately, the more I see or hear about our own Dear Leader makes my blood boil the same way. Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! Merry Christmas, my friend.
