As a retired military officer I cringe at what our troops are now required to tolerate in the name of political correctness. I can state with absolute certainty from bitter personal experience that any active duty officer that protests the insanity of political correctness will quickly find themselves passed-over for promotion and booted out. Thus, not only must active duty officers tolerate eating the manure sandwich of PC behavior, they must also pretend that they enjoy it with sufficient enthusiasm to avoid the poison pen of their superiors' wrath. I'm thankful that I no longer have to tolerate such betrayal, myself, but I often wonder why any current active duty officer with integrity would opt to remain in the military a single day beyond 20 years.
