I may carry a usamerincan imposed passport..but that is the extent of my "american" affiliation. I am not, nor shall I ever be, that which claimed to come to liberate, yet have imposed and maintained an underprivileged class of citizens for over a century..

Where I live in Texas, I know and I see Hispanics every day from all Latin America countries. Frankly, most of them have a better work ethic than many white Americans. I welcome those Hispanics that are willing to work hard and participate in American activities and ideals. Here, the problem isn't with their willingness to work hard, the problem is illegal immigration. And most American-born Hispanics I know don't like that any better than I do.

I am all for LEGAL Immigration and assimilation. We must stop enabling the ehntic diversity and multiculturalism by getting rid of bi-lingual ballots and everything else. When I go to a foriegn country, I attempt to get by in Their Language, and they appreciate the effort. I applaud those who legaly come to America and learn English, it is a very tough language. English is our official language, if you mean to be a citizen of this country, learn our language and assimilate, and stop the multicultural nonsense, there is no sub set hyphenated-American, just American. If you can't do that, we Americans don't want you!

Tex,You raise an important issue. What do those Hispanics who did it right and came here legally think of the illgeal immigrants and/or amnesty for those who took the illegal shortcut. Also, what percentage of the "Hispanic vote" do you think is "illegals" voting ( they do not have to prove citizenship to register).I would bet that most of the Hispanics here legally are more Americanized - and that many of the illegals are voting like they own the place. Am I right or not?

M Rick Timms MD: you are probably right. My Hispanic friends that are here legally generally don't like the idea of illegals any more than I do. And as you probably know, the "Justice" Department recently struck down our attempts to require voter IDs. I have no idea, really, on how many illegals vote, but if it is one or more, it is too many. Those Hispanics that are here legally and have lived in America for more than say, 10 years, are definitely more Americanized, generally better educated, and speak English. And you're right, it's the illegals that still think they are in Mexico (or wherever) rather than in America. Again, the problems, in my estimation, isn't with hard-working Hispanics here legally, but with illegals.

Relating to Racial Profiling, it does not always exist when you visit another nation when you are minority. Im a Hispanic Male, dark hair, brown skin, athletic build, went to with my Swedish, girlfriend to Sweden to visit her family. It seems they saw me and knew I was an American, they treated my as An American, I was born in U.S.A, although in my own country Im not treated this way. Every time they asked me what my nationality was I said yeah, Im American and proud of it.
