The Patriot Post's mission is to advocate for Essential Liberty, the restoration of constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and to promote free enterprise, national defense and traditional American values. Our objective is to provide Patriots across our nation with a touchstone of First Principles through brief, informative and entertaining analyses of relevant news, policy and opinion from reputable research, advocacy and media organizations, so they may better support and defend those Principles, and enlist others to join our ranks." —Mark Alexander, Publisher
The Patriot Post is not sustained by any political, special interest or parent organization, and we accept no advertising. Our mission and operations are funded entirely by the voluntary financial support of Patriots like you!
Argus,I never fail to laugh at your comedic genius. However,I can't help but get irritated when people constantly think the U.S.Postal Service gets ANY funding from the taxes paid to the U.S.Government.The post office was mandated by the Bush administration to pre-fund retirement and healthcare benefits for 10 years ahead of time. That money was then used by the Bush admin. to help fund the War on Terrorism. The so-called government bail-out of the USPS is pure B.S. The money came from the USPS to begin with. The post office is a quasi-government operation only by the fact that Congress and the Postal Commission have sway over the way the P.O. is allowed to raise the price of their products(i.e.stamps)and the general business model that they are allowed to implement. If they had a real business management professional running the place and had some concessions as far as personnel (early retirements)then a new business model could emerge and keep the service solvent. It's not the unions that cause the problems, rather, too many mid-level managers who have to create ways to justify their bean-counting,non-essential jobs.My wife is a window clerk and works her butt off every day and her customers LOVE her.If FED-Ex or UPS had the constraints that the USPS has they would go bankrupt in a year.Unfortunately, most Americans think that the postal workers are paid and get their retirement from taxes. My wife pays into her OWN retirement.Mr.& Mrs.taxpayer DO NOT pay her retirement!
