Son of Liberty-I believe that's pretty much the enlisted oath as it has stood for decades. I think the recent rumors to which Mac alluded (about the oath increasing fealty to the President) are nothing more than that. However, it's worth noting that those are the oaths for enlisted only. Officers take an oath that is much more similar to that taken by elected officials. The final clause (obeying orders of the President, UCMJ, etc.) is removed and replaced by "...that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God."If anyone ever had the cajones to impeach Obama, Reid, Pelosi et al for their willing subversion of the Constitution in contradiction to their oaths, they might also look into the "without... purpose of evasion" section, as surely they and many others take their oaths only as a means to an end, and never consider them after that point.
