Is the Star-Spangled Banner an 'Abomination'?

I can only hope that they would open season on liberals. It would be called "Civil War" but there wouldn't be anything civil about it.

I think he misspelled that word "Obamanation" Typical liberal response. If it's difficult....let's get rid of it. Crossing the Delaware was difficult for Washington and his Patriots. The Civil War was difficult for Lincoln. Life is difficult and one of the hardest things in life is listening to liberals selling out our country.
If you can't speak English....if it's too difficult to learn....let's just grade you on your use of ebonics. If there's an award to be given out for excellence, let's also give some kind of award to all the dummies. We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Anyway, I need a few thousand more pages. Sorry,

Some things do not need changing. I feel like some of this is more smoke and mirrors to distract us from the President's dismal failure of a record. In corporate America, by any measure, the Board would have fired him before now.
@ John Ramsey: Nice. My thought on immigration and speaking English is that we need to fix it. Limit immigration. For those immigrants already here, I am not going to apologize to you nor make things easier for you: You chose to come to America, meaning you chose to join America. I am OK with "letting you" join America. But join you will. I am not allowing you to come to America and ask me to join you and your culture. You want to be here, then get assimilated! Be part of America, don't expect America to become part of you or your country. That is just plain rude. If I were invited over to a friend's house, I expect the friend to make me feel welcome, not to change his lifestyle and decor and so forth"
OK, end of rant. ;--)

Hi Rod,
Here's my take on Illegal Immigration.
You're not immigrants, you're illegal. When I do something illegal and I get caught......I'm punished. I'm a loyal American patriot. I'm here legally yet if I get pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, it will cost me $500. Why do we treat these people, whose very presence here is illegal, with kid gloves. How about UFC rules instead of a slap on the wrist?
My house is MY home. This country is MY country. If I want to leave my front door open 24 hours a day, this doesn't give YOU the right to enter without my permission.

We've got to stop talking about this 'Star Spangled Banner' nonsense.
You see, every time I hear about this yokel and whatever stupidity he spouted on his no-name show, I find myself drawn insatiably to my recording of Rachmaninov playing 'The Star Spangled Banner' on the piano.
It's beautiful, short though it is, but I'm sure my roommates are tired of hearing it.

Given that the melody for the Star-Spangled Banner was from a popular drinking song (one of the things I love about our Anthem), how can it be "Hard to sing"? Perhaps it's because the people singing it don't know its true tempo, nor do the pop-stars who are often called upon to sing it actually have any singing talent. Just like a liberal to want change just so the incompentent can have an easier time drifting through life (under the control of their betters, of course).

COS911, I think you nailed it. We just heard a young man sing it at the World Cup Qualifier last week and it was perfect, he didn't try anything fancy and it was beautiful. It's not hard to sing, the singers make it hard.

I agree with most of the remarks. If they here& at one time we were fro another country. Our forefathers had to change, which they did so this could become America. We want to keep that way now and it the future.

I have been a singer all my life and I love the Star Spangled Banner. The hair stands up on the back of my neck and I tear up each time I hear it well done.

I never herd of this joker, probably because the only people who watch current tv are Al and Tipper Gore and she's looking to buy a second tv set so she can watch the paint-dry channel instead.

Ken is correct to a point, but then it must confilct the teapartiers to death. Scream and scream about something Bill Press said, but wait, according to you, nobody listens to Bill Press, so it should not make any difference what he said. (Sorry folks, slipped something called "logic" into the comment section.) The Star Spangled Banner is not a horrible song, but a better anthem would be America the Beautiful. You teabaggers could even like that one! It has GOD in the very first verse!!! Even Battle Hymn of the Rebuplic (although a bit depressing prior to a sporting event) - heck you teabaggers!!! That one even specifies LORD - not just some generic GOD from what you believe to be phony religions (Jews, Muslims). And no.......none of any of the content of those songs were sung by your JEEEZUS, or located in the Bible. Man made songs, so don't get so emotional (stop crying there Righty!) when someone suggests that the current anthem does not serve us well.
