As long as our nation tolerates obvious wolves in sheep's clothing who openly undermine our values and way of life with impunity, we are planting the seeds of our own downfall. PPA is an abortion factory that hides behind the flags of woman's health, sex education, etc. I compare them to the terrorist front groups who openly collect funds in the USA to send back our enemies in the Middle East and those in our own government at the highest levels who sympathize with various illegal activity and appear to be aligned against any efforts to protect our borders and the ballot box. America is under siege from within.....

This is all contained in obamacare under a directive for the government being responsible for responsibiity education programs and th adult formation of children clauses. This also falls under the initiative for the establishement of medical homes in schools. These medical homes will be a one stop shop deal. The feds are also going to regulate annual mental health screenings, to in their words, catch problems before they become problems. With the UN Rights of the child....parents will not have access to all conversations with these in school resident mental health counselors. Be sure to check out SAMSHA.GOV to learn what the feds have in store for your kids!

As an intermediate teacher, I have witnessed daily the acceptance (if not celebration) of teen pregnancy (13 to 15 year-old kids). Why not? Mom and dad will take care of my kid and collect welfare, under a myriad of state and federal programs, while I go merrily about my way squeezing out future welfare queens and kings.

NOT only welfare but also payment for taking care of a "foster child".

Teen pregnancy is a way of life in some sub-cultures. One of my in-laws used to be married to a man whose family pattern seemed to be: unwed teenage pregnancy; grandparents raise the infant; teens continue playing and having fun, producing more children. Then, when the teens are older and their own kids are teenagers, they take on the role of parent to their own illegitimate grandchildren because they "missed out" on raising their own kids. And their teenage kids continue the pattern of having fun and making more children for their parents to raise.

Some might consider this a wonderful expression of the diversity of family forms. I call it tragic, sordid, and destructive. Education is not valued within that large family system (it extends to all the cousins as well); nor is personal or family improvement. Their home life is at times squalid, and personal relations are frequently turbulent. My sister-in-law regrets ever marrying into that family, because they made her life (and her child's) a living hell after her husband divorced her. He wasn't having fun anymore; not since the child came along.

The homeschooling academy (20 families) which my family belongs to, an academy which promotes traditional family values and roles, has a zero percent divorce rate, zero incidence of drug use and test scores which vastly exceed the scores of institutionalized schools. The concept of the state educating children is an experiment gone badly wrong - homeschooling is the norm and the proven method of educating and forming the character of God's children - and they are His. Read the signs, America.

Dale: What you said about public education as an experiment clicked with something I've read in Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascists," which is that Progressives and Fascists (who claim the same ideological forebears) consider that living scientifically means to evolve (a.k.a. Darwinism), and evolution being scientific requires scientists (experts) to direct it. Hence, you "run experiments" to see what works best. But it's odd how so many modern progressives are invested in the "tradition" of public education, when it is evident that the experiment is not working. They are not willing to change their hypotheses.

@ Dale: you are so right about home schooling, my friend. But, there at home, the government cannot indoctrinate your child with fake histories, give them drugs to make them into zombies, or convince them there is no God. The government hates home schooling. Congratulations for schooling your children at home.

Thanks, Tex. You made my day. Those of us who homeschool shake our heads in amazement when criticized and maligned by those wrapped up in a system with a long track record of failure.

@TexHorn in TX: There is one way that the government can indoctrinate kids who are schooled at home. Home school-minded parents are encouraged to join charter schools, which are really public schools at home.

In exchange for freebies, like computers, internet service, and cash for curriculum, the parents agree to teach the way that public schools do (extensive record-keeping, meeting with teachers to go over children's work, standardized tests, and limited choice of curriculum, especially if it contains predominantly religious content).

We have home schooled our two children for five years and have loved it. We thank God that we still have the freedom to do so.
