@TexHorn in TX: There is one way that the government can indoctrinate kids who are schooled at home. Home school-minded parents are encouraged to join charter schools, which are really public schools at home.

In exchange for freebies, like computers, internet service, and cash for curriculum, the parents agree to teach the way that public schools do (extensive record-keeping, meeting with teachers to go over children's work, standardized tests, and limited choice of curriculum, especially if it contains predominantly religious content).

We have home schooled our two children for five years and have loved it. We thank God that we still have the freedom to do so.
