I am a Catholic and I am embarrassed that my chuch supported Obamacare. I know they did it because they believe all people should have access to health care. But I also know that when you deal with the Devil you always come out on the losing end. My church has hopefully learned a valuable lesson. I HOPE my church has LEARNED a valuable lesson. TOM.

I believe the Catholic Church has finally realized that Obamao and his minions are disciples of the AntiChrist. Marxists Statist Traitors are trying to control the Catholic Church, just as Hitler and the Nazis did. Janet Incompetano has let 240 houses burn, while the military firefighting planes sit on the ramp doing nothing while the ageing civilan tanker fleet is grounded after an accident. They throw away billions on failed green energy, but allow houses to burn when available assets are not used. Homeland security indeed. I hope all those burned out families realize that this treasonous administration only cares about control and power, and the country be damned.

.."if they were shot down like rabid dogs, you'd only need to clean up after them once." "Not to excuse Roeder, but his crime consisted of committing just a single cold-blooded murder of a 67-year-old man who'd committed over 60,000 abortions." I sense your frustration and empathize completely.

Burt,
Don't forget that Georgetown and Notre Dame (one of those filing suit) allowed BO/BS Plenty to speak on their campuses complying with the edict that they remove all crosses/religious symbols in the backdrops!! I believe that this was BO's retaliation at Georgetown for not removing the crosses that had so allegedly offended its Muslim students according to press reports many months before.
We all know plenty of Catholic politicians who still receive the Host at Mass, regardless of their public stated positions on the legality of abortion and "women's health rights" vs. their personally held views (BS alert).
I viewed a Glenn Beck TV clip from March of this year recently where he reported he was in Rome for the elevation of the 20+ new cardinals including Timothy Dolan. Beck said that after interviewing Dolan and some of the others, this is part of Benedict XVI's plan to make over the hierarchy with true conservatives. I believe that the recent Vatican "scandal" involving the pope's butler and private papal papers that uncover corruption and money laundering are a shot over the bow from the Obama administration fronted by Hillary's State Dept. to get in line with BO, or worse is headed their way. Hillary's State Dept. made a recent offer to the Vatican that it would "help" the city state with investigating banking and money laundering issues vis a vis the global terrorist threat. Interesting timing for the so-called Vatican "scandal" to come out in the U.S. papers, no? Fortunately, the cardinals over here are on to it--both Dolan and Wuerl of DC made recent encouraging statements to the media. Wuerl told Chris Wallace that he wasn't concerned with the coverage that's translated over here from the hysterical Italian press and who knows who's got any understanding of the truth (words to that effect); Dolan responded to a reporter's question about the NY SLIMES bashing him for allegedly paying $20,000 to some Milwaukee priests who were defrocked in order to "make them" leave the priesthood (that doesn't even make sense to me). Dolan replied, "that's not the first time the TIMES has reported things about the Church that have not been credible" or words to that effect. If the Old Gray Hag is really so concerned about pedophilia, instead of attacking the Catholic Church, it would be running hundreds of articles right now about why all the sexual aggression taking place in our NYC schools by the staff/faculty.

To all those who believe rascism is still alive in this country, all they need to do to prove it is to cite the Democratic Party's Black Caucus and the NAACP.

Amen, brother Burt!! A habitual drunk loses his license to prevent him to drive. A lawyer loses his when he violates his legal tenets and cannot prctice again. Shouldn't a habitual sex addict lose something, too, that will prevent his/her continued immorality and unwanted procreation?

Honest Abe: I know what you'r e saying, but if I had my way, the thing that rapists and child molesters would lose are their lives.
wjm: I hope that the Catholic Church has learned its lesson, but I have found that lessons have to be learned time and again before they finally sink in. And not always even then, or the prisons and rehab clinics would all be doing a booming busniess. As for Janet Napolitano, like everyone else in this incompetent's administration, she is trying to function at a level far above her pay grade.

Burt,Napolitano, like the rest of the Obamaoists,is not only trying to operate above her pay scale; she's trying to operate above her I.Q. level. This administration is, without a doubt, the most morally corrupt ever to hold the office! I watched "The Patriot" last night and commented to my wife that a revolution will again take place to purge this country of evil incarnate that goes by the name Obama!

Burt, you are certainly right in that this is just the beginning of Obama's attempt to control religion: what one believes, what one does, how one expresses their beliefs. In that sense, we are all truly Catholics. Good article.

Early in the column you referred to an incident taking place at the Wall. As a Vietnam vet myself, I was deeply incensed at his denying admittance to vets and the families of the fallen for over 7 hours so he could endeavor to pander to yet another group during that very short campaign speech. That alone should speak to everyone about the quality of his character.

Some observations:
"it occurred to me that if they were shot down like rabid dogs, you'd only need to clean up after them once.". Isn´t it curious that you can say this about anyone except our royalty - especially the President- without having to worry about the SS swooping down in black choppers?
"Obama said he deeply regretted the way that Vietnam vets were treated .." That´s why he suggested wounded vets foot the bill for their medical treatment? That´s why he closed the Vietnam Memorial on Memorial Day for nine hours so he could get a Messiah-with-a-halo photo? That´s why he had troops popped tall in Afghanistan at O-Dark-30 so his speech coud be aired live during prime time in the U.S.? Bullshit.
I noticed the mention of Sebelius and "rabid dogs" in the same ensayo. Coincidence?

Dave: It is a pattern with this guy. He goes to city after city pursuing campaign donations, screwing up traffic for hours, disrupting the lives of millions of commuters. He closes down the Vietnam Memorial for a photo op, disrupting the lives of veterans and the families of fallen warriors. But his excuse for not attending Sunday services? He doesn't want to be a distraction for a couple of hundred churchgoers!!!

"While, as my title suggests, we should all stand with our Catholic friends and neighbors in this attack which threatens every religion, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the Church hierarchy gave their blessing to ObamaCare until the day arrived when the bishops finally spotted the devil in its details."
Well, at least you DID point it out, which is a lot more than I can say for most. While I loathe the assault Obama is making on the First Amendment, I have little sympathy for the Catholic Church itself, as they were so gung-ho for Obamacare in the beginning. Looked at from the perspective of history (albeit recent history), the ENTIRE Obama Administration could be looked at the same way as the Catholic Church sees Obamacare: the entire country bought a pig in a poke.

Brian: Well, Nancy Pelosi did say that ObamaCare would have to be passed before we'd all find out what was in it. Naturally, that didn't deter 60 Democratic senators from voting for it, although, to be fair, a couple of them had to be bribed before they capitulated.

Our "Greatest Generation" fought a war to put an end to the wonton murder of innocent people. But then, unborn babies aren't Jews, so I guess killing them is acceptable to liberals.
Guttmacher Institute reports in the United States the number of black babies killed by abortion beween 1973 and 2010 (nearly 38 years) was 17,237,000 per year - 465,865 per year, or 1,276 per day. The number of blacks lynched between 1864 and 1968 (104 years) was 4,946 - 47.7 per year. Even if that number reflectes an under reporting of lynchings it would be a tremendous stretch of the imagination to bring those numbers anywhere near what liberals have deemed to be an acceptable means of decreasing the black population of Earth.

I'm not sure if inviting Satan to speak at the Georgetown University commencement next year would be a step up or down in evil after having invited the Secretary of Health and Human Sacrifices Kathleen Sebelius this year.

Living in Missouri, just 20 miles from the Kansas state line, it has always dumbfounded me that Kansas could breed so many detestable vermin as Sebelius. It must be because of the area of Europe that their forefathers came from. I can come up with no other sensible conclusion.

Sadly a lot of the Catholic church`s leadership has fallen into the same trap as the leadership of other main stream religions. They have forgotten the fact that their real mission is the salvation of souls. Instead they have gotten into the socialist agenda hook, line, and sinker. Their salt has lost it`s savor.

"During the week that the lawsuits were filed, the combined coverage by ABC, CBS and NBC, amounted to less than 20 seconds of air time."
Burt, in a certain European nation during the mid-1930's this policy was referred to as 'Gleichschaltung' (Coordination). Make no mistake, Gleichschaltung has arrived.
With the recent advent of SWATing, another oddly reminiscent tactic of the 1930's, employed by surrogates of the Chancellor who terroristically target the opponents of the state in order to silence them, we may begin to see more variations of this theme in an effort to create an environment of 'Selbsgleichschaltung' (self-coordination). Watch your back my friend. It's getting scary out there.
