Billy 396 (obviously your union number): I have seen many 100 year-old companies fold for various reasons. I would reconsider my us-versus-them attitude and research what is actually going on with your company. There are many resources you can go to that have NO union propaganda involved. Of course, both have an invested interest in improving their own status. The union bosses want to continue to feather their nest (even more so than the company execs). The company wants to keep the company viable and growing so that can attract more investors who will provide capital to fund that growth. I'm sorry to burst your bubble; companies do NOT exist to provide employment. They exist to provide their investors (who risk their money) with a return on their investment and to reward management who must make the important decisions that will allow for growth in the long term. As long as employees can be productive and add value to the profit margin (oops, dirty word) they will be retained and even more hired so as to fuel new growth.
