If I had a nickel for every time I had to wait a long time in a grocery checkout line behind someone slowly and meticulously counting out food stamps, I would have my own week's worth of groceries paid for. These people have always been well-dressed, well-groomed and drive off in cars that are newer and more expensive than mine. I look at them and feel like I have been robbed.

Our political elite's edge in getting re-elected rests with people who love our money that they get so easily and freely with our political elite's insistence. Handing out patronage using our tax dollars is alive and well in this election season, with slick video advertising to come right on in and get it. All our political elite has to do is buy as many votes as possible to win, since they won't win because of anything else they do or say.

Our Spanish speakers have a critical decision to make: Do they want a country that will crash and burn with all our hard-earned tax money being handed out to freeloaders, even if this money is targeted at them as likely patsies to accept bribes in exchange for votes? Or will they look past their own corruption at a country where felons like Charlie Rangel prevent them from electing their preferred candidates by illegally not allowing Spanish speakers to vote? Will Spanish speakers be so focused on grabbing their free stuff that they will disregard the suppression of their religious freedom by a government that will not allow Catholics to opt out of forced payments for contraception?

Our Spanish speakers have to choose between being Americans with a country that will thrive for generations, or Americans with so much of our wealth redistributed that their children will no longer have the opportunity or freedom we all used to have. As Americans, they will have the opportunity to decide along with the rest of us in November. We will see how corrupt they are.
