Well, if your are the New World Order elite you do. Have a look at item number 1 on the Georgia Guidestones. There it is in eight languages for all to see (and CARVED IN STONE).
1.Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

I prefer the number developed by Drs. Cook and Ludwig (hardly "pro-gun" folks) published in May 1997. They found (to their dismay) 1.46 million DGUs a year.

For a Scriptural defense of of weapons, see "Firearms: Scripturally Defended" at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/firearm-right.php.
Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, believes our principle authority for bearing weapons in defense of ourselves, families, and others comes from the Bible, not the Second Amendment. You can hear his thoughts concerning this at http://www.missiontoisrael.org/tapelist.php#goa.

This actually supports the fact that our forefathers were mostly Christians and their beliefs were reflected in the Constitution, which was intended to protect their beliefs and their freedom to live by them from government intervention.

I carry, and it only took a display of my holstered .45 to a carload of ethnic youth who had stopped in front of my truck and jumped out with bad intent, to persuade them that only hell awaited should they proceed. I simply told them that if I unholstered the weapon they were all dead. They thought it better to live to jack up someone else, and fled. This was is broad daylight in a Wall mart parking lot. I am quite sure my life was in jeopardy. Guns are a tool, no more dangerous than scissors when properly used. Where guns are banned, there are more victims, and more crime, and the miscreants are only emboldened by gun free zones. People who blame the gun are imbeciles.

So, I guess putting your truck in reverse or going around them (if they refused to move I doubt they can stop a truck) was not an option? You're story is just more gun bravado. I was in a similar situation and it was not "ethnic" kids looking to cause harm. It was full grown caulcasian men. Simply picking up my cell phone with the numbers 911 pressed they scattered like rats. No bravado, no gun, no problem. I feel sorry so many of you are so scared to live life cowering at shadows and afraid everyone is out to get you. Sorry to kill the John Wayne moment here but any one of you fools in the movie theater would only have helped to kill more innocent people.
Paul in Jackson
Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 4:04 PM
Then you got extremely lucky, because if they had not scattered you would have had between 5 and 10 minutes, if you were lucky, before the cops got there. You would have been in a world of hurt. Why do you think 99% of mass shootings take place in gun free zones? Could it be because the shooters know they can rack up a quick body count? Did you know that the police standard operating procedure for mass shootings has changed? They used to wait until they had a group of officers, but now they go in as soon as they get there, since all of these shooters have killed themselves as soon as they meet armed resistance. Puts a new spin on things huh? As for the movie theater shooting, even though the shooter had a ballistic vest, they only stop the bullet, not the energy...getting hit by 6 or 7 slugs dumping there energy into you(they leave bruises) might have sent him running. We do not know because thanks to the powers that be everyone in there was helpless. Do we know for sure that it would have stopped him? No, but we know for sure that peoples cell phones sure didn't.

John in Philly - You sir, are ignorant. In my area, if you were to pick up a phone and dial 911, they'd laugh and proceed to stick that phone in places it doesn't belong and leave you for dead long before the police arrived. Not to mention how difficult it becomes to dial anything when your facing an armed criminal in close proximity. Police are a reactive force that responds to a situation in most cases after the crime or assault occurs. The response of my firearm is instant and decisive. My phone is a secondary response after the primary threat has been halted. Thanks for choosing to be a victim though, you'll likely one day make some thug very happy

John there are many places where there is no cell phone reception here and if you do connect 999 out of 1000 time you will wait a minimum of 30 min for law enforcement to arrive and it could be up to 2 hours. Nope I will take my gun.

Yeah, so sad isn't it lol. Just wait until the day comes when you dial 911, and get told by the voice on the other end that its too dangerous for us to help you. Which was the case with me back in 2004 when I reported gun fire during cinco de meyo. I was told by the female voice on the other end that "were sorry sir, but its too dangerous for us to send someone out to help you. I recommend you hide until the shooting stops.". a sentence I remember as plain as day as though it happened last night. The following day I had intended on filing a law suit for denial of service. When during the course of my research someone had already tried and failed. The case went to the supreme court of the US. Where the justices ruled that it is not the obligation of the state of local government to protect their citizens from criminal harm. That obligation falls solely on the private citizen to provide for their own security and safety. Later on that same ruling was re-enforced by an instructor when I went through EMT training. But you don't need me telling you this. You can either find out the hard way like I did, Or you can do the same research and find out for yourself just who is solely obligated for your safety and security. You can also ask a cop. You want to believe in a over exaggerated so called emergency services system, go for it. As for me, I will do what I need to do to protect myself, my family and close friends.

My family and my God given right to protect myself, my family, and my state are enshrined the U.S. Constitution and my state constitution. Get out of here crackpot. The right to bear arms was for defense against a despotic government, not just for hunting, jerk.

Other than the fact that your story is a lie, you have nothing to add to the discussion. If it had really happened they would have known that they had plenty of time to tear you limb from limb and had they really wanted to, they would have done it.

So John, you are acusing others of being cowards, but just retiring from your assailants is courage? It is not gun bravado to stand up for your right to live your life peacefuly, and it just encourages these mobs, ethnic or not, to do more harm if you run from them. If more people would stand up to them, maybe we won't see so many instances of mob violence. You, sir, are revolting, and the true coward. Running from criminals doesn't turn them into law abiding citizens, just emboldens them.

Actually, someone familiar with his weapon, who has put time in learning how to use it and has honed his target skills would have had a good chance of strategically placing a bullet in the head of that scum in Colorado. Most criminals have never even fired their weapons. There are many normal citizens who have the skills of a trained sniper. Obviously, in a point blank situation it wouldn't matter, but in a theater someone who was armed may have been able to exterminate this roach. Criminals know that the chances of anyone returning fire are slim. Being armed is no guarantee that things will go in your favour and situations vary, but it helps level the playing field. There are countless stories of armed citizens successfully defending themselves or others. If I was ever in such a situation like Colorado, I would want to be armed.

People have been killing people since Cain killed Able with a rock! Gun control only serves to embolden the criminals who would not obey the laws anyway. THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED CRIMINALS! Saying that guns kill people is basically believing that a gun can jump up off the night stand and fire off a round of its own accord. The gun is merely the tool of choice in the killer's hand. But it can also be a tool for justice and saving a life or lives more often than folks get to hear about. That is due to the lame stream liberal media. I can say with all honesty - today my gun killed ... nobody. Same as yesterday, the day before, and the day before that, etc ... etc ... etc.
Liberals stupidity is on display once again.

Back in Cain's day they probably started to come out with anti rock laws. You know banning rocks of a certain weight, size and constitution. Certain rocks required government authorization cause they were deemed to be assault rocks. etc etc lol

It's not bullet proof; it's a stab proof vest.
Having said that; there is still plenty of crime committed by criminals in possession of firearms. Thankfully it's the same scenario as in the US, where they're generally shooting each other & thus no great loss. Firearms homicides are rare here, with 38 recorded for the whole of 2011. It should however be noted that in 2010, the last mass shooting here claimed as many dead as the Aurora tragedy & the shooter's weapons were a bolt action .22 rimfire rifle & a double barrelled shotgun. Goes to show you don't need handguns & semi automatic rifles to commit mass murder & that banning them doesn't prevent it. The only defence against an active shooter is a gun.

We have concealed carry here in MN and when I see one of those signs in the window of a business that says they don't want my firearm in their store I leave them with a card with these words: We have noticed your sign and will respect your wishes by doing business elsewhere. As a concealed carry permit holder I have a MN permit issued by my Sheriff. I have passed state and federal background checks for violent crime, mental illness, and chemical dependency. I have rec'd training in the law of self defense and have passed a handgun training course. I am at least 21 years of age. What do you know about your other customers? The bad guy does not obey the law, much less your little white sign and by telling the bad guy that I am disarmed you have made both me and your other customers an easy target.
The above John Wayne commentator is an idiot who doesn't deserve, but will still get protection by someone with a legal gun if needed. The commentator is also a liberal admitted or not since the attitude reflects the " I know what's best when it comes to your right to life" type. My right to life supersedes the bad guys crimes and life as it does that commentators ignorance.

Incidentally, the Second Amendment did not give us the right to keep and bear arms- the writers assummed that we as a free people have always had that right. The anendment states that that right shall not be infringed, and our local, state and federal govenments have been doing just that with contra-costitutional impunity for decades.

A funny thing happened to me the other night, As an unarmed security guard, I had a group of annoying teens act like they were going to throw a sizable rock at me while I was in my parked patrol car. They heard me start it, thinking I was scared. Wrong. I started it because had they thrown that rock at me. My 1200 lb patrol car was going to turn one of them in to a speed bump. I would have aimed right for the one that through it. A rock can be considered deadly force the same as if it was a gun. I been shot at in the past during a war. Due to that experience, not much scares me anymore.
