Horse Hockey: The Left's Rafalca Derangement Syndrome
Rafalca is the name of Ann Romney's show horse, which competed in Olympic dressage this week. Rafalca Derangement Syndrome is the name of a debilitating partisan disease that is raging among snotty "progressives" posing as populists.
On Thursday, the George Soros-funded henchmen of MoveOn promoted a new TV ad that "features a talking Rafalca Romney, who tells us Mitt would treat many Americans worse than a horse!"
Interspersed with scenes of a dressage competition, the talking Rafalca mimics a faux British accent and lashes out at the Romneys' privately earned wealth:
"How do I pull off such grace and athleticism while looking so good? Maybe it's because the Romneys spend $77,000 a year on my upkeep, and after Mitt Romney repeals healthcare and ships your job overseas, I daresay your life will not be nearly as pampered as mine. After all, you're not one of his horses."
You don't need to be an equestrian expert to understand that the left's vicious, class-warfare attack on Mrs. Romney reeks worse than horse hockey. The GOP presidential candidate's wife began riding horses 12 years ago as therapy for her multiple sclerosis. As Dressage News reported, "Back then, Ann could ride the trot on a horse for not even close to a minute and then have to walk for at least another five minutes because of the crippling effects of MS." Mrs. Romney has devoted her time ever since to promoting therapeutic riding programs and clubs across the country.
When Democratic operative Hilary Rosen disparaged Mrs. Romney for having "never worked a day in her life," first lady Michelle Obama herself said, "(F)amilies are off-limits. And I think my husband said it, and he was clear on that. And I totally agree with him. Also, my comment that I tweeted was, we need to respect all women, in whatever positions and roles they play in this society."
Using Rafalca to smear the Romneys and stoke class envy is vulgar abuse of a political figure's family member. Don't take my word for it. The Democratic National Committee itself acknowledged earlier this month that it had crossed the line with its own video mocking Rafalca -- although it blamed viewers for misconstruing its slimy intent. "Our use of the Romneys' dressage horse was not meant to offend Mrs. Romney in any way, and we regret it if it did," DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse told ABC News. "We were simply making a point about Gov. Romney's failure to give straight answers on a variety of issues in this race. We have no plans to invoke the horse any further to avoid misinterpretation."
It's one thing to question a political family's use and abuse of taxpayer dollars, or to scrutinize a political family member's public record and rhetoric on the campaign trail. First lady Michelle Obama has bristled at the few challenges she's received over the years to her extravagant jet-setting, pricey fashions, $7,000 tops, $600 sneakers, incessant wealth-bashing and Nanny State policy meddling. But these are fair game as the White House and its campaign team jointly ramp up their Occupier-style warfare against America's private sector wealth creators.
What is out of bounds are ad hominem attacks on a political family member's private activities to perpetuate bitter stereotypes and clingy narratives. A study of horse owners conducted by Deloitte and Touche a few years back found that horse owners come from all economic backgrounds, own all types of horses for various purposes and live in a variety of places from tiny towns to large cities. "The largest group of horse owners (45 percent) are drawn from the middle class with an annual household income between $25,000 and $75,000. Only 9 percent of the population earns greater than $150,000 yearly, and a full 11 percent of horse owners have an annual income of less than $25,000."
But let's not let facts get in the way of a good Eat the Rich propaganda campaign. As usual, the overwrought left has stepped in a steaming pile of double standards, hypocrisy and politics of personal destruction. Let's hope voters just say nay in November.

Every time the liberal fascist open their mouths hate and discontent pour out. The libs are the mose hateful, intolerant and non-compassionate critters on the face of the earth. A horse, any horse at all, has more common sense and brain power than 99.9%+ of liberal fascist. Have you ever noticed how cows have that look of pure stupidy? Well, moveon org. is even more stupid than your average cow ... time for those critters to go away and stay away ...

Just because one does not work outside the home does not mean they have not "worked a day in their lives", my wife will attest to that. The first half of our marrage I was an NCO in the Army so even I can attest to her work and support in keeping a Family together.

Mitt got his money the old fashioned way. He earned it. Most libs got their money by deceiving Blacks ,Low income Whites, Hispanics(legal+illegal) into believing that they need help to achieve any form of prosperity. Any working class person will tell you there is a pride attached to a job well done. The libs have debased almost 48% of the population. It started in the 60's and continues to this day. I have never been jealous of what others have. Why would I be angry at anyones success. Most liberals are angry people! They want everyone to get a trophy without working for it. I don't care what Mitt or the President has attained. I wish more people would be able to get wealth. But only by working for it yourself

Ann Romney knows dressage, so I have deep respect for her. Mitt, the Maker, has wisdom, experience, and integrity. Geo Soros is a horses @s#.Here at Appaloosa Ranch, we love horses. My daughter just advanced from pony to Quarter Horse. We're not ready for dressage or jumping, yet. My Grandfather and Uncle both had horses, upstate, in the Finger Lakes Region. Diesel engines have Horsepower, torque, and high compression. No substitute for Rudolph Diesel's invention, yet, so drill, baby, drill!!! Michelle LOL.

Doesn´t Hussein have a dedicated trainer/handler for his dog? I bet that costs more than $77,000/year. At least Romney uses his own money and not the taxpayers´.

Above all I was struck by the sheer stupidness and immaturity of the video of Rafalca the talking horse. Seriously? A talking horse? It reminded me of something from a child's movie. Childishness is a hallmark of the liberal left wing lunatics. I believe they think somehow they are being cute and so retro with dumba$$ stuff like this. Our country is in crisis, we need a LEADER, not someone like Obama who can't lead, has an Anti-American ideology, lies, is narcissistic and who uses silly crap to try and distract the American voters from the true issues.

Mary in dearborn hts. I agree with what you wrote. I would add this: liberal socialism really got a toehold in the U.S. when Woodrow Wilson was Pres. and was boosted when FDR became Pres. in the '30's and '40's. This ideology has been advanced by every Democrat Pres. since. Once the Democrat Party became totally under control of the ultra liberal socialists with their man Obama in 2008, we have seen a steady decline in the republican constitutional form of government in this country. God help us if this man is re-elected in November.

Just a footnote to Mary (Dearborn Hts.) on-the-spot comments: Lib-dems found an unbeatable formula for winning elections . . . Invent policies that actually hurt people, then tell them YOU are the ones who "feel their pain." Apply liberally to almost all factions . . .

Alex in New Haven:
You are so right. The Dumbocrat formula is "Never actually solve a problem! A problem is too good to waste!" Make it worse then blame it on the other guy. I sent most of my life in New Haven, and five years running a very successful, and cost effective, Reagan era, economic development program in the city in the early 80's. Of course the success of the program incensed the entrenched Dumbocrat Machine, and they did everything in their power to undermine and subvert it. They finally drove me out of town (and nearly out of my mind), then handed the program over to their handpicked criminal colleagues and 'disappeared' $4 million dollars in the course of the next two years!!!! (1980 dollars of course which would be more like 8 to 12 million today.) And the same crooks are still running the town today. Different faces, but the same MO!!
Alex we may have crossed paths along the way, as I know a few Torello's in the area! Good luck with being in New Haven.
I just don't go there anymore, unless I am forced to by circumstances!! RJA

Let's discuss the 35+ horsepower limos that these "progressives" use to cart their butts all over town and pick them up and carry them in style in what otherwise would/should be a short walk to the Capitol building....How much money is paid for this "service".
The only way to change this country is to get rid of EVERY PROGRESSIVE listed on the roster. Then and only then might we have a better chance to straighten things out. So go find out and VOTE AGAINST THEM!
