The Right Opinion
New Obama Slogan: From One, Many
President Obama is my president. He's not illegitimate. He's not a usurper. He was duly elected by my fellow citizens -- and as much as I think he's a horrible commander-in-chief with anti-American ideals, that's the choice Americans made in 2008.
But by the same token, President Obama isn't my president. He isn't doing anything for me, the typical, faceless American citizen. I'm not a member of a minority group -- at least a minority group that counts (being Jewish obviously doesn't count when it comes to Obama's giveaway grab bag). I'm not a welfare case, and I'm employed. I'm not a member of a public sector union.
And so I don't count when it comes to President Obama.
President Obama's entire re-election campaign -- and, thus far, his entire presidency -- has been predicated on appealing to various splinter groups within the American population. He isn't interested in presenting broad policy initiatives that appeal to the vast swath of Americans; in fact, his one major policy initiative, Obamacare, bombed with the American public so badly that the Democrats were unceremoniously thrown from Congress in 2010.
That's why Obama finds himself on the defensive with regard to his polarizing campaign tactics. In an interview with Black Enterprise magazine, Obama said, "I want all Americans to have opportunity. I'm not the president of black America. I'm the president of the United States of America." But that's not what he says on his campaign website, where he breaks down Americans by color, including a subgroup of African-Americans for Obama, where he pushes posters urging blacks to "get his back" -- just $35 to show your support!
Obama's website also offers groups for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Jewish Americans (well, liberal Jewish Americans), Latinos, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgenders, people with disabilities, small business owners (all two of them who support Obama), seniors, women, and young Americans, among others.
Obama sees America as a country of differences papered over with the flag; Americans, by contrast, have historically seen America as a country of different folks united by dreams, goals and principles. To Obama, unity is aesthetic, an idea to be photoshopped to the front of a campaign brochure. To Americans, unity is engraved on our coinage.
But that fundamental difference in perspective has yet to manifest itself in this campaign. Americans seem to want to take Obama at his word. They don't understand that his campaign philosophy of 2008 is worlds apart from his campaign philosophy of 2012. He has failed as a universal president -- a president whose rising tide has lifted all boats. His only success must spring from his particularism. He must deconstruct his "all things to all people" persona in order to appeal to any one particular group.
But Obama's enigmatic persona means that there's no there there. He hasn't offered enough to any one group to qualify as a representative member. His answer to Black Enterprise came in response to a question about whether he's done enough for the black community. And he hasn't. But he can only campaign as a black candidate or a gay candidate or a Latino candidate or a whatever-he-is-this-week candidate.
And that just won't fly. Because, to paraphrase a famously unifying politician of the recent past, we're not black states and white states, gay states and straight states -- we're the United States. Even if our president seems to like us better scattered and disunited.

He's not "my" president either, Ben. As you say, he is the president of only those splintered groups you list. It appears that many Americans are just too lazy to care or vote for anyone else, especially the 100 million on welfare. While Romney is intelligent and perhaps a good businessman, he is as stiff as a stick. Few, including many Republicans, can muster any excitement for the man. But many like Obama's "cool" it appears. I look at Romney's campaign and ask: "Who's in charge?" We conservatives are in trouble, folks. Many Republicans I talk to think the wrong man was chosen and have little appetite for supporting Romney. Still, I encourage them to vote, if for nothing else, to dump the socialist.

Americans with disabilities. God how I hate that monicker. I am 79 years of age, born with cerebral palsy, and had a total of 3 weeks unemployment during a 46 year working period. I may have a disability, but I still hate the worthless bastard in the white house. Anyone with a speck of self respect should feel the same.

Mr. Ryan, we had a guest speaker at our church recently who--despite having been born with cerebral palsy--has been working as a pastor and public speaker for about 40 years. I think I remember him saying that his life expectancy was supposed to have been 20 years.
This man has a difficult time walking and he has a VERY obvious speech impediment. When he was helped up to the stage, he told us "Raise your hand if you've noticed that I talk funny." Of course NOBODY would have dared to raise their hand for fear of offending.
After a few awkward moments he turned to look at our preacher and cracked, "Hmm... Well, I guess I know I'm in Georgia, now." I thought I would die laughing. Dirty dog set us up good...

Fortunately, for America, Obamao has burned lots of bridges, Ben! He's the renegade outcast, who tries to bully mainstream Americans into embracing his Marxist manure!! Obamao can't even use the phrase ,"My fellow Americans", because his natural born citizenship is in doubt! Here's a shovel-ready project; let's shovel all Alynsky disciples out of D.C., on ballot box redemption day!! Do it for God and Country!! Dominus Vobiscum!!

Everything you've stated hits the bulls eye, -with the exception of "He's not illegitimate. He's not a usurper." You do neither yourself nor your cause any good to boldly proclaim such a false statement. You should not pontificate on that of which you are ignorant. If you knew any facts regarding the matter then you could have shared then will all of us pathetic self-deluded fools who look to writer-folks like you for sage advice and insight. But you have no facts and no knowledge concerning Barack Obama's indisputable ineligibility to serve as President. What will you assert next, -that the U.S. born son of a Klingon is also eligible to be President? Or how about the U.S. born son of Osama bin Laden? Or Hitler? If you have any brain cells that still know what curiosity is, then I suggest you listen to them and educate yourself before you embarrass yourself again with such an ignorant foolish statement. You should start here: obama--nation.com

well said, there are too many concervative pundits who give credence to liberal lies. Equating Reid to McCarthy comes to mind, but McCarthy was proved correct and Reid is benieth contempt. Or opining on Romneys European trip and gaffes, when he only spoke the truth, gaffes are what Obamao, Biden, Pelosi, and liberals in general speak. The Democrats are now the party of Marx, and just as in the days of McCarthy, have infiltrated government, and are domestic enemies of the state, in their attempt to transform America into some Socialist Utopia. FORWARD is the slogan of Stalin, useful idiots, and traitors.

John McCain, if you remember (obviously you don't) was born in Panama to American parents which made him eligble to be president. Ovomit's mother was an American so the same standard applies DIMWIT! Now shut your piehole and do something constructive to get rid of that slim-ball, and check you facts before you make a stupid statement like you just did.
