The Right Opinion
Bailing the Ship of State
Even though I write at least three articles a week, I find it impossible to stay abreast of the madcap antics of Barack Obama and his multitude of stooges. At times, I feel like Mickey Mouse portraying the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Walt Disney's "Fantasia," frantically trying to deal with all those deranged brooms.
For instance, consider the fact that Obama has increased our national debt from roughly 10 trillion dollars to 16 trillion in just three years, and is now trying to convince us that he's the biggest penny pincher since Jack Benny.
Sillier yet, he has chosen to run against Romney's record at Bain Capital. According to objective sources, Bain's success rate during Romney's years was 78%. In other words, about four out of the five companies in which Bain invested became successful. What percentage of green energy companies in which Obama has invested our tax dollars have succeeded? Does "zero percent" ring any bells?
There are times when I actually find myself feeling sorry for Jay Carney. After all, when he accepted Obama's offer to replace Robert Gibbs, I'm sure Mr. Carney had visions of fame and fortune awaiting him. What he failed to take into consideration was that day after day, he was going to have to march to the podium and try to put the best face on a very ugly administration. He was going to have to spend his professional life lying and spinning like a top.
At least over at Fox, Juan Williams gets to sit down while he's spinning. Watching Williams trying to explain and excuse every miserable thing Obama does reminds me of the character, Spicer Lovejoy, in "Titanic." In case you don't recall, he was portrayed by David Warner, and he was Cal Hockley's bodyguard.
Although Lovejoy was a villain, I couldn't help thinking that nobody could ever have a more loyal and dedicated employee. Even after the ship hit the iceberg and was starting to keel over, Lovejoy was still earning his salary, even as his knees were getting soaked.
That's the kind of dedication I see in Juan Williams. Even Lovejoy didn't carry as much water as Williams does. No matter how dumb he sounds, no matter that Steve Hayes, Bret Baier and Charles Krauthammer, are all staring at him as if he's begun speaking in tongues, nothing can dissuade Mr. Williams from defending his guy. Sometimes, I find myself wondering if Obama sits in the Oval Office, dreaming up nonsense just to see if Williams will back him up.
Although I delight in ridiculing the Left, I'm afraid there are times when I have to take conservatives out behind the woodshed. For instance, when did you all decide that it was necessary to pretend that your kids were all scholars whose huge brains would atrophy if you didn't send them off to college, where nutty professors could shovel left-wing crapola into their craniums? And just how did you figure that their lives would be enriched by majoring in studies devoted to black, Hispanic, lesbian and Communist, propaganda?
Furthermore, the fact that your offspring are so susceptible to these lies proves that you haven't bothered explaining to them what makes America exceptional. You wouldn't fail to inoculate them against mumps and measles, but you cavalierly leave them free to catch the left-wing virus that floats around just about every schoolhouse in the nation.
Even in nursery school, members of the despicable teachers unions have them chanting "Barack Obama, mmm mmm mmm" and you're just fine with it. Is it any wonder that later on, when they're told that they should admire psychopaths like Che Guevara, Mao Tse-tung and Fidel Castro, while despising Washington, Jefferson and Adams, they swallow the bilge as historical fact?
In closing, I'd like to call attention to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Nanny Bloomberg, who has declared sugar, salt, tobacco and trans-fats, verboten in New York City, is a scofflaw who has broken the law at least 16 times in the last six months, thanks to using a helicopter to transport his self-righteous butt to and from his mansion in the Hamptons.
As one of his constituents put it, "Bloomberg's being a little hypocritical. If you're so concerned about the quality of life of the citizens in this city -- like don't smoke a cigarette in Central Park -- don't land a 2,000-pound helicopter in front of my apartment with the choking exhaust and intolerable noise, especially when the heliport is supposed to be closed."
It seems that the Manhattan heliport is only supposed to be open for business from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and shut down entirely on weekends. Bloomberg defended himself by saying he was unaware of the curfew. If anyone believes that, he has a bridge over in Brooklyn that he's willing to sell cheap.
On the other hand, at least Bloomberg felt compelled to present a defense, as cheesy as it was. When Ted Kennedy was still in the Senate and promoting wind power as a way to replace fossil fuels, a green energy outfit proposed erecting windmills in Nantucket Sound to take advantage of those Atlantic Ocean breezes. Once Kennedy realized those windmills would be visible from his home, the plans were scuttled.
Being a Kennedy, he didn't even have to come up with a lame, Bloomberg-like excuse. Nobody would have disputed him if he'd pointed out that all by himself he could easily generate all the wind power Nantucket could possibly use.

Clear up one thing for me, will you. Why the hell are you never invited over on Fox as a contributor? I'd bet it would ad 10 points to their rating. American didn't become great because of universal college education. It became great because of individuals "doing their own thing."

I hope not! I have to get some news somewhere, and I can barely tolerate CNN. MSNBC makes me ill, and the three broadcast networks make me long for the more balanced tone of my youth.

Burt - As I was telling my better half, when we were discussion the "higher education sham", that it is easy to mold the college kids into Socialists because their brains are made up of 25% bong resin and 75% malted hops. We discussed why the Obamination went to CU to schmooze with the students there and I stated that it was because of the very composition of their brains that Choom Boy would pimp to their vanity in the hope of getting votes. He did!

Right you are. You would think that at least some of these college numbskulls would have slightly older siblings who have had to move back home to Mom and Dad and that fading poster of Obama that Paul Ryan referred to last night.

In a mild defense of parents, the odds are stacked "way" against them. It must be hundreds to two (hopefully two heterosexuals). Kids are influenced much more by leftist teachers, friends, TV, video games and the like than they are by parents. So good luck getting through to your kids, getting through all the noise competing with you.
Ah, Bloomberg. I figure the nitwits of New York need a nanny. They have a nanny governor, a nanny president. Otherwise, why would they keep electing Mr. Nanny? How is it the Republican Party even claims this fool? Maybe it's because Howard Last is right, they are not leaders.
And finally, speaking of Juan Williams, his remark that Ms. Romney looked like a "corporate wife" has netted him the ire he deserves; although, what is wrong if she did look like a corporate wife? It's better than looking like Thunderthighs with her big O mouth, moaning about our beloved "damn flag."

If you mean "Slow Joe" Biden, the vice president does not live at Blair House. Blair is the President's guest house (for visiting dignitaries, choom buddies, what have you...). The vice president lives in the mansion formerly used for the Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Observatory.

Juan Williams is an obnoxious simpleton.. FOX would do us a big favor if they gave him a pink slip. He could do a better job of maligning the GOP at CNN or MSNBC with all of their other idiots. NPR was able to dump a real loser and egocentric O'Reilly was dumb enough to encourage FOX to hire him.

Alan Colmes and Geraldo Rivera are mental invalids. Marc Lamont Hill is funny on Red Eye. Bob Beckel provides a great negative example. After watching him, there's little chance of being converted to liberalism.

@ Tex- I agree with you about 99% of the time. However, your comment about parents is off the mark and patronizing.Parents need to make children the priority, nothing more important than motherhood for the future of our country,Fathers that sit idle,do nothing for the family, can't get off their ass except to change a channel or go play golf. They treat their wives like crap, sorround themselves with toys, beer and porn and wonder why the family is crumbling. Please make no excuses for parents because there are none.Every generation has challenges in parenting, difference is the men of this generation have abdicated all responsibility, are weak, pathetic, whining victims unable to sacrafice. It sickens me to see comments like yours that make excuses. No offense Tex but the problem isn't society, it isn't "noise",it's selfish parents who treat children as a "phase" to get through instead of the gifts from God that they're supposed to be.I mean no disrespect, just my .02

The Democratic Party has always crowed like roosters in a hen house when they have a 'cause', whether it be wind energy, trans-fats, too-large sodas, abortion, etc. They are, in their own minds, and by self-declaration, "critical thinkers". They truly believe the rest of us are not able to put a cogent thought together; therefore, they have come to realize that they are our saviors because we are just too dumb to realize "what is really good for us". They can show us "the way".
My husband and I "taught" our children at home after they came home from school. We showed them our way -- the historical and God-Given America that liberals despise. We warned them of the many liberal professors out there who would try to sway them and we warned them not to fall for this tripe, but to stand their ground. Today, we have a son and a daughter that we are proud to call 'OUR" children, not the children of some liberal old hippie who would have loved to have infiltrated a weak-minded young person with HIS/HER beliefs. I am happy to say that we did not raise a "Juan Williams" or "Hank Johnson" D-Georgia, who stated that he was fearful that Guam would capsize with too many Marines sent to the island.

@ ripped chef in sc: mea culpa, ripped. Note that I did say "mild defense." I agree with your assertions. I just don't see it much. Mostly, I see parents who could care less what their children are doing as long as they are not in the parent's way. To those parent's who are participating in their children's lives, who are home-schooling and encouraging the right kind of learning, I admire you for it. And what you say about men is the most striking truth. Problem is, I don't see many men, not real men anyway. Most I know are controlled by their wives: the wives tell them what to wear, buy their clothes for them, and tell them how to act. So, if there are men out there like you describe I say "HuAhh! I would guess that you are one, based upon your response to my post. At least I hope so.

Bloomberg keeps saying how bad firearms are. I have a great idea how he can decrease the number killed and wounded by gun fire, take the guns away from the NYPD. In the recent shootings outside the Empire State Building two people were killed and 9 wounded. One was killed by the madman and the madman was killed by the police. The nine people were wounded by police gunfire. So if the police were disarmed nine people would not have been wounded. And this is not an isolated case, many times the NYPD has fired and not even hit the intended target. A way to make the citizens safer is to let ordinary citizens carry firearms. Any day I will put the members of my gun club up against NYPD officers. I teach the Rifle and Shotgun Merit Badges for the Boy Scouts. The scouts know that you have to know what is beyond your target and to beware of ricochets. Maybe the NYPD should have their members learn about firearms from the Boy Scouts.
As for FOX, they are the best of the worse. Remember it is run by CFR member Rupert Murdoch, so why would anyone be surprised at some of the things that it pushes or its hosts.
From the deck behind the house and the living room windows we had a great view of the Front Range and the Laramie Mountains. That was until the windmills appeared like weeds. Too bad the Hero of Chappaqiddick did not live in the subdivision. BTW, many time the windmills are feathered because of high winds. So what produces the power when the bird chopper uppers (hey PETA) are out of service, why coal fired plants. What you mean we have to build the coal fired plants anyway?
