The Right Opinion
A Reliable Prediction
You don't have to be a psychic who forecasts future events for supermarket tabloids to accurately predict what awaits the new congressional Republican class of 2011. The writing is already on the computer screens and in the TV teleprompters.
A preview of coming attractions was trotted out during President Obama's last scheduled news conference of 2010. After spending most of the year worrying about the economy and whether the Democrats could fix it, sycophantic reporters gave new meaning to the term "lapdog."
Following the lame-duck congressional session that rammed through legislation clearly at odds with the voters' message in the November election, ABC White House correspondent Jake Tapper offered "congratulations" on the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." Tapper then sounded as if he was channeling gay-rights activists when he asked the president whether it is "intellectually consistent to say that gays and lesbians should be able to fight and die for this country, but they should not be able to marry the people they love."
That prompted an answer from the president that his views on the subject of same-sex "marriage" are "evolving." Let me go out on a limb and predict they will "evolve" to acceptance, even advocacy, just in time for his re-election campaign.
Mark Knoller of CBS Radio wanted the president to "explain the anger and even outrage many Democrats felt when the tax cut bill extended tax cuts not just for the middle class, but also for the wealthy." They weren't tax cuts, but an extension of lower tax rates. The question could have come straight from the White House press office.
CNN's Dan Lothian asked about the president's frequent use of the "car in the ditch" analogy, wondering who the president thinks will be behind the wheel when Republicans take control of the House, and "what do you think Republicans will be sipping and saying next year?"
And so it went with a liberal question about the defeated "Dream Act," and many other suck-up questions that ought to have embarrassed any self-respecting journalist.
On MSNBC, Tom Brokaw compared Obama's year-end legislative successes to Lazarus rising from the dead. As most nationally known journalists are anything but "religious," that analogy could stump Brokaw's secular media colleagues. They might even have to look it up, which would not be a bad thing for them to do.
The lapdog big media will predictably question everything the new Republican House attempts to do, characterizing it as "insensitive," pro-rich and even inhuman. They will be helped by unions, which will stage demonstrations against any program cuts or attempts to reduce the size and reach of government. Characters are already in the wings, waiting for their moment on stage. These will include the elderly, the poor, the homeless and other "victims" who make up much of the Democrat base. They will tell sob stories, and the media will dutifully cover them without fact-checking a single one, much less suggesting such people could better their lives by relying less on government and more on themselves.
As Byron York correctly noted in The Washington Examiner, Democrats will again cry "Washington is broken" after Republicans take control of the House and improve their numbers in the Senate. To them, Washington "works" only when it is passing bills authored by Democrats that cost and tax more, while expanding the size and reach of government. Washington is "broken" when Republicans say "no" to more dependence on government and yes to liberty, opportunity and personal responsibility.
The message from the November election was about ending Obamism, not expanding it. You wouldn't know that from the drooling big media, which is already trying to re-establish the liberal narrative that everything Democrats do is good and everything Republicans do is evil. The big question is: What narrative do Republicans have to counter, even replace, the Democrats' narrative? That I can't predict, except to say we'll soon know.

"Inhuman, Insensitive, Pro-rich". These will always be applied by people that want to steal more from productive citizens and give it to unproductive citizens. There is no basis for governmental charity in our Constitution and until Franklin D. Roosevelt, a very rich man, came along and decided to give other rich men's money to people without work we avoided that trap pretty well.We are giving away so much money in entitlements that it is hard to keep track. And people demand more. The question is "Where does it come from?" It comes from other people's pockets. As we all know, the government produces nothing. It takes money from businesses and people that do and uses it for many things. Here is where the hard part comes in: Should that money be used for the legitimate purposes of government, such as Defense, building and maintaining infrastructure, securing our borders and exploration? Or should it be used to pay for granny's hip replacement or new glasses for the kid down the street? Should it be used to maintain the Smithsonian or to build a Neon Sign Museum in Las Vegas? The choices are pretty simple. Quit wasting money on people that fail to plan and boondoggles or pretty soon we will be broke and there will be no United States of America to loot and give to the locusts that won't take care of themselves. Corporate welfare falls into the same category. Is this inhuman? No. Is it responsible? Yes. That is why it won't be done.

Mr. Thomas,In response to your editorial, as far as the lapdog media and the rest of this Great Nation are concerned, we as a Country have failed to understand and realize, is that we have become, a "Greedy" nation of people who are only concerned about our own pocket books and our own well being !! Not the well being of our friends, neighbors and fellow country men. In the name of diplomacy, we have spread way too much of our generosity to countries that don't really give a good God damn about our generosity, but hey, "If they want to give us their money attitude", we'll promise them anything for the US to keep giving us their tax payers hard earned money, so we can bankrupt their asses and their "Holier than Thou" attitude !!What we as a Nation have forgotten is that our Founders fought against the same arrogance and illegal taxation that the ill fated "Crown's" of England perpetrated on them and they finally decided to say "Screw" you England, we have a better idea for a "Home of the Free and Brave" and with God's Blessing and Amazing Grace, not Allah's or any other false prophet's, our learned and "Brave Founder's" came to this "Beautiful Country" that we wound up screwing the original "Native American" settlers out of, so that we and our families could live free from excessive taxation and tyranny !!As far as the repel of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy", the American people and the Gay People need to understand, is that God's Holy Book, the Bible, says that what the Gay's are doing is WRONG, but, however, they are God's children also and he and he alone will deal with them at his appointed time and we are not here to judge their sinful and misguided "Satan" driven life style. So, yes, repel the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy" and let our "Gay Brothers and Sisters" who we all know have already been serving honorably way before an official policy was ever enacted by a "Liberal Congress" who desperately needed the Gay's hard earned money to keep their leftist agenda going that is steadfastly destroying our "Founder's American Dream" and the "Morals" that this Great Nation was founded upon as "One Nation Under God" !!Very Respectfully, A Proud American and Brother in Christ !!Chris Motte

The message I hope to hear from Mr. Boehner:"We swore to uphold the Constitution. The Federal Government has no authority to legislate the items proposed by Congressman X in HR Bill Y. Therefore, the Bill will not be brought forward for a vote."

Where is John Galt? Liberals are liars, despicable folk who must be voted out, or when the economy collapses taken out. That is why they continue to assault the second amendment. The errosion of freedom is the goal of the statists.

It always amused me that "good Christian conservatives" such as yourself would follow me so biblically, for I am a known radical atheist just like Ayn Rand. Just saying !!!!

Cal, those of us on the supposedly secular left are still wondering when, if ever, you and your Republican friends will pick up your Bibles long enough to learn about the other Lazarus. (That's Luke 16, for those of you following along in your texts.)Like him, we will be more than willing to share our wealth and water with you despisers of the poor in the world to come. But according to Jesus, our good will won't be able to cross the fixed gulf you have been building around yourselves all these years. May you learn heavenly wisdom in better time than Dives.

I don't really remember Republicans getting the message that there should be more Obamaism in 2008 when the Democrats were given Congress by stunning margins as well as the White House. Seems to me they obstructed as much as possible, as they should have - with the power their constituents gave them.If Dems hold the Senate and the White House, govern as if they hold the Senate and the White House.

Mr. Galt:I knew John Galt. I worked with John Galt. John Galt was a friend of mine. You, sir, are no John Galt. And you, Mr. Thomas, are a rock-headed idiot if you still believe in that long-dead creature, The Liberal Media. No business operated by a multinational corporation that makes most of its profits from the manufacture of submarines and cruise missiles can be considered "liberal", Rachel Maddow notwithstanding. But if you find it comforting to live in that fantasy-world, you keep it up. Your readers obviously live there with you.

I find it fascinating that the right so whole=heartedly embraces the work of Ayn Rand in the areas of economics and the politics of the accumulation of wealth, but is somehow able to ignore the blasphemy and contempt for all religion, and specifically the messages of Jesus Christ. Rand's work was and is the bedrock of the teachings of the Church of Satan. If you think that's silly, go and look up the Anton LeVey (founder of the Church of Satan) interviews about where he got his ideas. Rand consistantly pokes at Jesus' teaching of helping the weak, the poor, and even the sinners. Rand was a hardcore atheist, very much against Christian values. Her writings are in fact heavily influenced by her upbringing in Communist Russia. While she denounced Communism, she kept the atheism that she was taught growing up. Those followers of Christianity who take up Rand's philosophy are poisoning their souls, and no doubt will have to answer for this as God judges them unsuitable for eternal life with Him. I suggest those who struggle with belief in the Bible and Christ's teachings versus Rand's work (Galt and all), choose Christ. Galt and Rand do not offer eternal salvation, only damnation.

Pamela Heckel, Don't be surprised if the Republican leadership (still an oxymoron) goes along with with BHO. It is not called the God Owful Party for nothing. Want proof, who did the republican leadership back in the various senate primaries?
John Smith.

Cal i love these so called elites who want to infect are entire society with their progressive disease.mr.tapper and his ilk think they're prime goal is to save the world not report the news. I wonder if ole jake thinks we should have coed barracks and training for our new improved rainbow coalition armed forces. How about "gay male veterans and gay female veterans day".Complete with parades with rainbow flags instead of Old Glory! Maybe we could have pediphiles train as rangers and seals we could put them in our submarines to. How great would that be.Even more inclusive than having just openly homosexuals and lesbians serving in our military.I mean it's really the only fair thing to do.I'm sure some of our judges who believe in a living constitution can come up with something to cover this abject foolishness. After all like our mr. potato head leader prince obama they are the best and the brightest our counrty has to offer. It must our new and improved public education system that produces all these rocket scientests.God Help Us. Semper Paratus.
