Royko wrote another book about hizzonor: "Clout". Richard J was, or seemed to be, an honest man. As long as you did it his way. Many of his cronys went to jail, he was cleen. And polite about it. As long as you did it his way. Richard M is another sort. Not near as polite. And perhaps better at reading the handwriting on the wall. Chicago is broke, Illinois is broke, and there aren't any more parking meters to sell.I remember the day Hizzonor passed away. WFMT interrupted their normally classical programming with the announcement. T'was a sad time.22 years in and around the Windy.
