Open Thread: Coast Guard Birthday
On Aug. 4, 1790, the U.S. Coast Guard was created by Congress, which authorized Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton to build a small fleet of 10 cutters to protect the coast. The Coast Guard continues to serve a critical role under the Department of Homeland Security and we at The Patriot Post offer our thanks for a job well done. Happy Birthday and Semper Paratus!

As a former "Coastie" I appreciate your rememberance of the Coasts Guards birthday.Along with the Merchant Marine. It has been the forgotten service.I would also add a suggestion to your many readers.You might want to take to heart the Coast Guard motto.Semper Paratus.We are living in times where it appears all branches of government:from federal all the way down to local are bound and determind to take way as many if not all our rights and freedoms.And turn America into amerika! So in these troubling times.The Coast Guard rings True.Semper Paratus.P.S.I could tell you what it means.If you don't know.But if you would really like to know.Look It Up!I think you'll have a greater tendency to remember it.To all those who have served Sempers.
