Patriot Perspective
The Bill of Rights

Today, Dec. 15, is the anniversary of the adoption of the Bill of Rights, the first 10 Amendments to our Constitution, as ratified in 1791.
The Bill of Rights was inspired by three remarkable documents: John Locke's 1689 thesis, Two Treatises of Government, regarding the protection of "property" (in the Latin context, proprius, or one's own "life, liberty and estate"); in part from the Virginia Declaration of Rights authored by George Mason in 1776 as part of that state's Constitution; and, of course, in part from our Declaration of Independence authored by Thomas Jefferson.
Read in context, the Bill of Rights is both an affirmation of innate individual rights and a clear delineation on constraints upon the central government. As oft trampled and abused as the Bill of Rights is, Patriots should remain vigilant in the fight for our rights.

The Second Amendment is still part of the Bill of Rights. BloomingIdiot could not wait to use the shootings in Connecticut to call for more gun bans. Any truth to the rumor that he has disarmed the police officers that guard him? Remember all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal (Animal Farm). It is already illegal to carry a gun in a school or shoot someone so can anyone explain to me how an additional law would have prevented the carnage. That old crazy guy Ben Franklin had it correct, "They that can give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Howard, The problem we have is we a bunch of illerate voters who are willing to give up their liberty for hand-outs. They don't understand that all that does is make them slaves to the government. They could care less about the Constitution, the Bill of Righs, or the Declaration of Independence. All of these were done by old white men a long time ago and has no relationship to our day and time. Its that mindlset of the government owes me and they never question where the money comes from to pay for the handouts. Bunch of lazy, shameless, illerate parasites who have never contributed anything to the country and most probably never will.

Bet those Neo-Comms have never read Publius, aka Federalist Papers-that help explain the Constitution. Notice the Bill of Rights was added, respectfully, 4 years later than the Constitution.

Unfortunately it is the mantra of the liberal buttheads to always blame the inanimate object rather than the killer. I've yet to see a gun jump up off a table and start shooting of its own accord. All guns must be held in a human hand being operated by a human brain. Hearing Oboner's statements about "we must change" is really the worrisome part of this as we all know how anti-gun he is.
If the government ever manages to disarm American citizens, the penchant of government for mass executions will not be a matter of if, it will be a matter of when. Too many Americans blithely put their trust in the American Government. As for me, in GOD I trust ... everyone else is suspect.

It is the 2nd Amendment that protects all the rest.
