SWAT Teams, Snipers and Guard ... Oh My!

Dangerous radicals

Tea Partiers really should learn to quit being such violent radicals. (Wink, wink.) "The SWAT Team was called in [Wednesday] at the Quincy Tea Party Rally," reports Jim Hoft of BigGovernment.com. Obama was speaking at the Oakley-Lindsey/Quincy Community Center that afternoon.

Not only were police in full riot gear to handle a few harmless old ladies, but they had snipers stationed on the roof. As Hoft quipped, they had to be prepared "just in case the grandmothers started throwing bingo chips at the building."

Meanwhile, two Illinois state representatives are call for the National Guard to deploy against crime in Chicago. Democrats John Fritchey and LaShawn Ford want Gov. Pat Quinn, also a Democrat, to allow guardsmen to patrol the street to quell violence.

"Is this a drastic call to action? Of course it is," Fritchey said. "Is it warranted when we are losing residents to gun violence at such an alarming rate? Without question. We are not talking about rolling tanks down the street or having armed guards on each corner." No, says Fritchey, what we're talking about is merely a "heightened presence on the streets."

Obviously, this would be a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which bars the use of military forces for law enforcement.

Secondly, when the Supreme Court overturns the city's gun ban, citizens will be able to protect themselves and crime will go down -- all without the National Guard.

Mayor Richard Daley won't go down without a fight, though. In fact, he's upping the ante and calling for Mexico and other nations to bring American gunmakers into the World Court in the Hague. Daley says, "We are shipping guns there by the truckload to people to kill each other. They're not manufactured there. And we want the drugs that come from other countries that is a conduit, like a highway through Mexico, into the United States! And we sit like we have no responsibility. We should not ship any guns to Mexico."

How about shipping Daley to Mexico?

Liberals just don't get it. The more laws and restraints they heap on the liberties of law abiding citizens, the more lawlessness and anarchy abound. Crime has gone down in every state that has concealed cary on the books and yet people like Daily insist that crime will be reduced when we take away an individual's right to protect himself.

Mayor Daley is calling for the opening move in the establishment of a 20th-century style police state. "If you let the camel poke his nose into the tent, the rest of him soon follows." Yell at the camel, and if that doesn't work, punch him in the nose. We have to tell Mayor Daley and other would-be totalitarians in no uncertain terms that we will NOT tolerate this, and will go to war if necessary to preserve legitimate government.

That said, the Secret Service routinely deploys snipers in the area whenever the President makes public appearances. I saw this first-hand when G. W. Bush spoke at an outdoor campaign rally in 2004 - black-suited snipers, each accompanied by a local deputy sheriff or policeman, were posted on bluffs all around the open area.

Nevertheless, we should be wary if the security effort is disproportionate. I don't recall the police in full riot gear at the Bush rally, even though the local leftists were picketing and making a lot of vicious, slanderous and obscene statements about the Bush and the war effort.

Another attempted thug tactic..INTIMADATION! (similar to the Obama "report your neighbor" website) ....But it won't work....Actually it will only give cause for patriots to bristle even more....Seems this administration has so little understanding of the Americam spirit that they think throwing gas on a fire will have an opposite effect.....You'd think someone in Washington would have read American history and understand the parallels of it repeating itself again today...We would not accept the subjugation of the crown then, and we won't accept the subjugation by the socialists/marxists today.

Don't Tread On Me still applies (maybe even nore than ever)

I disagree: bingo chips are fun to throw--until someone loses an eye. Compare, if you will, the number and types of people who attend a Leftist rioter vs. the Tea Partier. See what kinds of messes they leave behind. Check out their "antics" and behaviors while protesting. Check out their signage. You can make these comparisons by going to zombietime.com. A brilliant compilation of leftist demonstrations. Be aware that there is some nudity--again, something you will NOT see at a tea party tax protest.

What Next??

A manufactured conflict with Tea Party protestors. Martial law before 2010 elections? The suspension of those elections that would remove the tyrannical pukes in our government transforming our liberty and rights into a subjugated citizenry?

Mayor Daley has his head where the sun doth not shine. The U.S. is not "shipping guns to Mexico". Most of the firearms used by the drug cartels et al come into the country by way of South America and El Salvador. Rocket propelled grenade launchers and other such military weapons are being supplied by the countries where the cocaine/marijuana are produced. The U.S. government's own analysis has proven this. The small number of firearms which do come from north of the border has been estimated at about 5%-7%, and they are smuggled across the border illegally.

American firearm manufacturers are again being targeted by those who want Americans disarmed. Socialism/Communism cannot tolerate an armed society.

Be forewarned America. All we need is another "crisis" to bring on martial law and the cessation of freedom and liberty. A border war would fit the scenario.

FYI -- There is an error in the text. It states that a call for the "National Guard" was made and that this is "Obviously, this would be a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which bars the use of military forces for law enforcement." -- Actually, the National Guard for the state of IL is not federal. The IL National Guard is the state of IL's army. The governor can call out the guard for what appears to be the suggested actions. The individual guard members would be made deputies of the county and be legal to perform such service. The "Posse Comitatus Act" is specifically a restriction on the U.S. military and the reserves - not the national guards of each state. For similar reasons - the Coast guard is not officially the U.S. Military and can perform police activities that the U.S. Navy is prohibited from performing.

The President federalized most of the guard during our current conflict. That makes them FEDERAL assets and not state therefore they DO violate Posse Comitatus.

If the Guard is on the streets the "brilliant" left will insure that have their weapons but, won't issue ammunition. After all someone might get hurt. Leave it to these morons to continue to put the good guys in harms way while under equipping them to make sure they, not the bad guys get hurt.

Re: Snipers on the roof.

I was working at NAS Moffett Field in the early 1990s when Bill Clinton stopped by for something he was attending in San Francisco. Naturally the military police were out in force, and we were barred from going to our work area on the ramp because Air Force 1 was parked ther. There were also a bunch of Secret Service types scattered all over the place, including snipers on the hangar tops and on the roof of the control tower. After Clinton left, as we were waiting to be cleared to go to work, we watched as about 3-4 of the SS guys stowed their gear and kept their faces toward us. One of my guys commented about the way they were eyeballing us and said something about them probably having directional mikes, and listening and recording every word we said. As soon as that was out of his mouth they ALL turned away and went about their business with only an occasional glance in our direction.

I would say that a lot of the security was normal for any head of state, but the SWAT teams was more a show of force than anything else, altho I wonder why you never see that when liberals gather to "speak" their alleged minds.

By the FBI's own investigation records 17% of all guns in Mexico came from the U.S. The rest from other sources. The political propagandists like to imply that ALL of the guns come from the U.S. Why?

Well, actually, there are quite a few guns from the US in Mexican drug cartel possession. The US GAVE the guns (and other supplies, including a helicopter or two - military grade) to the tune of billions in aid (cash and supplies) to the Mexican govt to fight the drug cartels. Problem is, the cartels, can bribe, steal or just plain confiscate what they want. A lot of cartel weapons are US made, nice stuff. But it wasn't smuggled in, it was delivered to the Mexican government. Gee, how'd the cartel get that stuff? Some of the good guys must have gone over to the dark side. Nah, no corruption in the Mexican government is there?

Mr Redrigues: How many of that 17% were lawfully delivered to the Mexican govt, who then lost possession of them to cartel members?

Thank you,

Re: National Guard on the street would be given guns but no ammunition--Same thing happened in Oxford, MS, in September, 1962, following the anti-immigration riot at University of Mississippi. Members of the National Guard unit in which I later served my enlistment told me repeatedly about having to endure threats and harrassment with no way to protect themselves--had M-1 Garands but no ammo--nor a bayonet. Some of them, however, were masters of the "vertical butt-stroke" maneuver withe the M-1 and used it effectively. Heh, heh!

At a recent annual meeting of a gun manufacturer, in response to a question, it was reported that USA companies are restricted from selling guns out of the country although foreign countries are allowed to sell in the USA. So I assume USA weapons in other countries get there by government, military or theft. Anyone know more about this?

Another good thing about all the attention that the Dems and Obama is that it indicates that the Tea Party Movement is working! "The lady doth protest too much, methinks." Why else would they complain so much and try so hard to discredit political opposition? When They know deep down that they are wrong...Their guilty concience reacts in protest! I can't believe that the Dems and Obama don't realize that their unconstitutional power grabbing behavior is fundementally "Un-American and Un-Patriotic"!

The preferred weapon round the world and in Mexico is the cuerno de chiva (goats horn, the AK series rifle after the distinctive shape of their magazines).

These are not made in America nor imported in full auto form in anything like the number showing in Mexico.

Re: Lorn Cramer "I can't believe that the Dems and Obama don't realize that their unconstitutional power grabbing behavior is fundementally "Un-American and Un-Patriotic"!"

They absolutely know what they are doing. They are changing the definition of what it is to be "America and American".

Our children have been indoctrinated in the liberal public school system since LBJ's Great Society of 1965. "Political correctness" was developed to keep people who disagreed quiet. It's gone on long enough that it's had a terrible effect on freedom of speech in this country. People are afraid to speak their minds for fear of hurting someones feelings or fear of not being accepted in "polite society. "Political correctness" is an unnatural set of shackles on free men. If we haven't done this to ourselves, we've certainly allowed it to happen, one little bit at a time. I hope it isn't too late for America to bring herself back from the brink and to again exist as she was meant to be.

Have a great day!

The US would be better served if those National Guard troops were sent to Arizona where reinforcements are really needed. But this whole thing tells me that the Tea Partiers are starting to get to Obama, lol. At first, he ignored the whole thing, now he's calling out troops to create a "heightened presence on the streets." As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a maroon!" Why doesn't he focus on Iran & Mexico instead of grandmas & grandpas?

"And we want the drugs that come from other countries that is a conduit, like a highway

If Mayor Daley wants those drugs so bad, he should come down to the Texas-Mexico border.

Every night there are Mexican drug runners crossing the border destroying property and killing people. I wonder how many of those drugs are headed for Chicago. Of course, Chicago's mayor wants them. He must be really upset with Arizona enacting the same

laws that the federal government refuses to enforce. Considering Daley's views, I knew he had

to be smoking something! Whatever it is, he's apparently getting it from Mexico.

To Mr. A.X.Perez,

Lots of semi auto AK47 clones are being made in this country, using overseas and USA made parts combined to satisfy Fed requirements for fabrication. most folks buy them for "fun guns" because of cheaper ammo, imported from all over the world. They are NOT being smuggled into Mexico, because the drug people get full auto real ones thru the southern border of Mexico for less than the USA made clones cost the guy down the street at the local gun shop.

Almost sounds to me like they are trying to precipitate an incident like Kent State to whip up that old 60's radicalism. Create the opportunity for violence between the military in the form of the National Guard and citizens. Something is almost guaranteed to happen and then the same people that put the Guard in in the first place will fan the flames
