The Brushfires of Freedom
Tuesday, June 15, 2010
"It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." --Samuel Adams
Dear Fellow Patriots,
The last two years have been difficult for all Patriots who endeavor to pass the flame of liberty to the next generation.
Too many Americans have been complacent about liberty, believing it to be their birthright and the birthright of generations to come. They have enjoyed the fruit of liberty defended by others, taking rights for granted and knowing nothing of the obligations for maintaining that blessing. Most Americans have no sense of gratitude for the accumulated cost of liberty -- a cost paid by generations of Patriots who have pledged their Lives, their Fortunes and their Sacred Honor.
I encourage you to take heart, though, because there is a groundswell of renewed interest in our nation's Constitution and First Principles. Millions of Americans are awakening to the ominous threat of constitutional adulteration and tyranny, and are, in ever-greater numbers, taking a stand for Liberty.
We cannot undo generations of civic negligence in one or two election cycles, but we *must* halt this downward spiral into the abyss of Socialist tyranny this year.
If there is one thing that distinguishes you, as a Patriot Post reader, it is the spirit and character that you share with other Patriots "keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
The burden of bearing the flame of liberty has always fallen upon an "irate, tireless minority," and I thank you for your strength, preparedness, vigilance and faithfulness.
Since 1996, The Patriot Post has been on the frontlines of the battle to restore constitutional limits on government and the judiciary, and we don't just "preach to the choir."
Though our primary mission has been to provide grassroots leaders across the country with the proper constitutional construct for tackling critics on the Left, we now reach a much broader audience, and millions of Patriots have joined our ranks in the last decade.
Because The Patriot Post is distributed without charge, our message of liberty is reprinted, forwarded and reposted by hundreds of thousands of our subscribers so that it is available to millions of others.
As long-time readers know, we don't dwell in a shiny office building at a fashionable address inside the DC Beltway, nor are we sustained by any political, special interest or parent organization. We don't assault your senses with online or third-party e-mail advertising. Our mission and operations are funded by -- and depend entirely upon -- the voluntary financial support of American Patriots like YOU.
While many of you support The Patriot's flame of liberty at the end of the year, and some throughout the year, we endure a perennial summer "dry spell," a budget shortfall between June and October, and we need your help to bridge the gap.
If you have the ability, please take a moment to support The Patriot's 2010 Independence Day Campaign. I humbly encourage you to make a contribution -- however large or small. If you prefer to support us by mail, please use our printable donor form.
Your investment ensures that The Patriot's timeless message of Essential Liberty, limited government and free enterprise, and our advocacy for national defense and traditional American values, is distributed to a wide forum of readers at all levels of government, academia, the media, and most important, to grassroots Patriots.
Your support also provides free subscriptions for our Uniformed Patriot readers, and those in ministry or other professions with limited financial means.
That's a lot of leverage for the future of American liberty!
We still must raise $155,491 for our 2010 Independence Day Campaign.
Never has your support been more critical than right now, and as a measure of our thanks for a donation of $26, we'll send you our newest edition Essential Liberty Guide. For donations of $52 or more, you will receive four free copies, and for donations of $100 or more, you will receive 10 copies. (Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.)
As always, I thank you for the honor and privilege of serving you as editor and publisher of The Patriot Post. We are humbled to count you among our readers. On behalf of our National Advisory Committee and staff, thank you and may God bless you and your family!
Semper Vigilo, Fortis, Paratus et Fidelis!

I just read your donation request "Brushfires of Freedom" which spurred me on to re-read your Essential Liberty articles, and I just have to write and tell you how grateful I am for your existence.
I'm a middle-aged single mom in nursing school, so I can't give at the moment, but you will stay on my list so when I'm making money, Lord willing, you will get your share! I believe in and support what you're doing. I send on your articles from time to time to my children and friends who I think will read and benefit. (And a few who might donate. :)
My oldest son was in the Army Reserves from '02 to '07, served in Iraq and Afghanistan both. My second son was a Marine from '04 - '08, did combat in Iraq and plenty of other "serving" the rest of his stint. Now my oldest daughter is in the Air Force, is a linguist, and putting in some long, boring hours serving in her own way. (My "baby" daughter is 17 and debating going into the Air Force - I'm not encouraging it!) During my boys' deployments, your articles helped sustain me, and I often sent articles to them. Now my daughter is the beneficiary of many quotes from your site. And we all quote things I know I originally got from you. I love how you bring rich historical nuggets to those of us who don't have time or opportunity to find and read them for ourselves. I wonder how many folks out there, severely historically malnourished, have received their first taste of freedom understanding from your pages, and grown into educated patriots...
I know you have been a huge part of my education, from America-loving ignoramus to educated freedom fighter. (I had to put it that way! :) Now my kids and I discuss what true liberty is, what conservatism really means, and what it will take to take our country back to what our founders intended.
Often, you are my encouragement when things look hopeless. Thank you so much!!!!

I've just done my small part to help combat the financial 'summer slump'. "The Patriot" is always the high point in my e-mail in-basket. I'm happy to lend my support to the most articulate voice advocating for our liberty. You've got my support for as long as you publish.
