Environmental gurus want to have their cake and eat it too. Baroness Sandip Verma, an energy minister in the UK, says the 18-year global warming hiatus is likely the result of government “green” initiatives. ‘“[T]here is a change in weather patterns happening across the globe,” she recently conceded. “[T]hat is a good thing. It could well be that some of the measures we are taking today is helping that to occur.” But didn’t the ecofascists tell us the world’s reluctance to take additional action to temper the crisis was going to allow temperatures to skyrocket, as climate models suggested (and still do)? Moreover, global CO₂ hit a record 400 PPM earlier this year; why aren’t temperatures responding if they are so directly correlated with carbon dioxide levels?
