The annual World Economic Forum always includes some rather unorthodox policy ideas from the globe’s leading statist advisors, but one concept pitched at this year’s forum may take the cake. Former Mexican president Felipe Calderon, who chairs The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, together with champion climate swindler Al Gore unveiled a $90 trillion initiative to transform and centralize world cities so as to make gas-guzzling vehicles obsolete. That would mean the end of rural life as we know it. “We cannot have these cities with low density, designed for the use of cars,” lectured Calderon. “We recommend those cities should have more density and more mass transportation.” Recall that last week’s confab included a fleet of more than 1,700 private jets, making a mockery of envirofascists who demand a lower carbon footprint.
