Filing ‘Error’ Delayed Release of Benghazi Documents

The admission reveals a disregard for transparency in the department.

A year after Congress issued a subpoena, the State Department discovered that documents related to the Benghazi attack were transferred to another department shortly after the order from Congress was received. Hundreds of electronic documents belonging to senior officials working under Hillary Clinton were found late last year, the Washington Free Beacon reported. The story, as a recent court filing from the State Department tells it, was that the documents were sent to the Office of Information Programs and Services so that they could be archived in April 2015. Congress had asked for the documents in March, and State didn’t think to look for documents in the archive bureau. Riiiiiight.

As Hot Air writer Jazz Shaw explains, Clinton and her lackeys have been telling Congress and the American people for years that the Benghazi attack was overblown. Furthermore, she blamed the scrutiny over the Obama administration’s handling of the jihadist attack as merely a political goad. “But if that’s the case,” Shaw notes, “it’s difficult to understand how it is that more and more information keeps mysteriously appearing.”

The other theory to the cause of the delay was that the State Department is so incompetent at keeping records and managing documents that it makes a mockery of Obama’s claim that his is the “Most Transparent Administration in History™.” Or perhaps Clinton lackeys — and anyone else who wanted to keep secret the truth of how the administration handled a terrorist attack ahead of the 2012 election — used incompetence to deceive Congress. Either way, the admission reveals a disregard for transparency in the department.
