You may recall the name of a dandy Demo from Texas, Robert Francis “Beto” O'Rourke, a case study in leftist Narcissistic Personality Disorder. For those of you outside of Texas who may not have heard, after his failed 2018 U.S. Senate run and his failed 2020 presidential run, Beto is back.

This week he has been beatin’ up on Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who he would like to displace in November.

Apparently, O'Rourke has been listening to CNN 24/7 and heard about this dictator guy, Vladimir Putin, and has picked up on some key buzzwords that he is now applying to Governor Abbott.

According to O'Rourke, after a meeting with some Biden appointee to the European Union, “We talked about the fact that you’re seeing the continued rise of authoritarians and thugs across the world, and we have our own right here in the state of Texas.”

Questioned about that characterization of Abbott, O'Rourke insisted: “He’s a thug. He’s an authoritarian. … He’s got his own oligarch here in the state of Texas. You think this stuff only exists in Russia or in other parts of the world?”

It’s no small irony that Beto characterizes Abbott as on par with Putin — a “thug,” an “authoritarian,” and an “oligarch” — given that the only thing that has delayed Putin’s complete overthrow of Ukraine is the fact that Ukrainian military resistance to Russian forces has been bolstered by civilian resistance. Unlike Russian civilians, whom Putin keeps disarmed, Ukrainians are armed with the same small arms that our Second Amendment prevents American tyrants like O'Rourke from confiscating.

As you recall, O'Rourke has repeatedly promised to confiscate “weapons of war,” particularly millions of those misnamed “assault rifles,” insisting last year, “Yes, I still hold this view.”

But realizing the disconnect, O'Rourke has changed his tune, declaring he wants to “defend the Second Amendment” and is no longer “interested in taking anything from anyone.”
