Michael Rodriguez headed one of the top alliances working with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to implement more gun control initiatives — what Adams framed as his “Blueprint to End Gun Violence.” Rodriguez was director of the group Bronx Rises Against Gun Violence.

However, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler discovered Rodriguez also had some other enterprises.

After a two-year investigation that began shortly after Adams took office, police raided Rodriguez’s Yonkers home as part of a roundup of 15 suspects charged in a drug conspiracy case. Investigators reportedly recovered drugs, more than $165,000 in cash, and a stash of illegal handguns. Rodriguez has been charged with first-degree criminal possession of firearms, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree conspiracy.

According to DA Hoovler, “There are still those who think that they can sell narcotics with impunity if they insulate themselves through the use of intermediaries.”

By intermediaries, I presume he means Rodriguez’s association with Adams. Apparently, Rodriguez assumed if Hunter Biden could operate illegal enterprises with impunity because of his high-profile association with “The Big Guy,” then surely a New York City drug thug could avoid criminal charges because of his association with the mayor. Rodriguez found out the hard way that, unlike the DOJ’s suppression of the Joe and Hunter Biden corruption case, there is still some justice in New York.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark declared: “The allegations of drug trafficking and gun possession against Michael Rodriguez are shocking and disturbing, especially since he has attended anti-violence events and peace marches portraying himself as someone who cares about stopping the violence in our community. These charges are the exact opposite of the good work cure violence groups are doing.”

A spokesperson for the Rodriguez “gun violence” group responded to the charges: “We are aware of the investigation and the charges that have been made. While we work to learn more, our primary focus remains on the communities we serve and our programs that are helping to keep them safe.”

Right.

For the record, as you know, violence is not a “gun problem” but a culture problem, and I have outlined in detail the politically inconvenient truth about the connection between race and violence that leftists mayors like Adams will never say out loud.

Bottom line: The reality Demos would most like to avoid is that violence is, in fact, highly correlated with their most loyal constituency and is the direct result of a Demo-induced culture problem spawned primarily by generations of failed socialist policies — resulting most notably in the disintegration of families. That is particularly true given the common denominator that most violent offenders grew up in fatherless homes.
