When all else fails, blame the Republicans.

As sad as it sounds, that seems to be the immigration strategy of the Biden administration, whose paid liar, Karine Jean-Pierre, said this to reporters at the White House on Thursday: “We have taken steps without the help of Republicans in Congress to do everything that we can to deal with this issue.”

KJP continued, “So they’re doing the opposite of what the president is trying to do, which is actually move forward in a way that is humane, safe and has an orderly enforcement pathway process here.”

No one ever went broke overestimating the idiocy of low-information Democrat voters, but Team Biden keeps pushing the envelope, keeps putting that proposition to the test.

“Finally!” exclaimed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. “KJP is correct! Biden has taken historic action. He screwed up the entire immigration process by ignoring the law and common sense and single-handedly made a complete mess of our borders. Don’t forget the ‘border czar’ Kamala Harris and her ‘historic’ action.”

Huckabee’s last reference to a “Kamala Harris” is a bit obscure, but it’s our understanding that this person is Joe Biden’s vice president and was actually tabbed by him back in March of 2021 to fix the catastrophe at our southern border. Shortly thereafter, she mumbled something about “root causes,” but she hasn’t been seen since, except for a brief appearance last year to promote electric school buses. You remember: “Who doesn’t love a yellow school bus, right? Can you raise your hand if you love a yellow school bus, right?”

Moving on.

At the aforementioned Thursday briefing, Jean-Pierre’s laughable claim was eventually challenged by Fox News’s Peter Doocy, who asked, “So, what do you call it here at the White House when 10,000 people illegally cross the border in a single day?”

To which KJP sneeringly responded with her own question: “So, what do you call it, Peter, when the GOP put forth a — wait, no, no, no, no, no, you can’t.”

Doocy objected to the White House press secretary’s attempt to answer a question with a deflecting question, at which point KJP dodged the question entirely: “No, no, no, we’re moving on,” she said.

It was a disgraceful performance by the Biden administration’s official spokesperson, but we can’t say we’re surprised. Remember last year when she said that illegal immigration “has gone down by more than 90%” thanks to Team Biden’s brilliant handling of the border?

Lest anyone think KJP’s comments were mere sloppiness, here was her boss on Thursday at the Congressional Black Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual gala: “MAGA Republicans in Congress and my predecessor spent four years gutting the immigration system. They continue to undermine our border security today, blocking bipartisan reform.”

We’ll say this: The dude has chutzpah.

Not to be outdone by himself, Joe Biden’s ongoing border dereliction has resulted in yet another dubious achievement. As Fox News reports: “The data brings the total migrant encounters for the fiscal year, excluding September, to over 2.2 million migrant encounters. CBP sources told Fox that, with September’s numbers so far, encounters for FY 2023 have already surpassed FY 22’s record 2.37 million encounters. Sources told Fox News on Friday that, with eight days left to go, there have been 2,388,350 encounters in FY 2023.” Last Sunday alone, the Border Patrol apprehended more than 7,500 illegal border crossers, which is nearly double the daily average.

It appears that the American people’s disgust with Biden’s handling of the border has spilled over across the partisan divide. According to the latest Washington Post/ABC News poll, 62% of Americans disapprove of the job Joe Biden is doing on immigration. Which tells us that 38% of Americans would like to see a permanent Democrat majority regardless of the damage it does to the fabric of our country.

The dereliction is willful, of course, and so are the administration’s efforts to fudge the numbers. On this point, Tennessee Republican Mark Green, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, called out its leading culprit: “Secretary Mayorkas did not hesitate to spike the football in June, and given his record of misleading Congress and the American people, I fully expect he will try to pull a similar PR stunt with these numbers. But don’t be fooled — cartel business is booming, and it will continue as long as Secretary Mayorkas insists on these radical open-borders policies. No amount of spin can change the fact that the American people are suffering the worst border crisis in our nation’s history. In fact, Secretary Mayorkas’s open-borders policies are actively undermining our homeland security and jeopardizing the safety of every American.”

While many of us were distracted by the daily deluge, Team Biden quietly said on Wednesday that it will offer temporary legal status to more than 470,000 Venezuelan illegals. As The Washington Post reports, “Biden officials told reporters that Venezuelans who had entered the United States by July 31 would be eligible for temporary protected status, a designation that will shield them from deportation and speed up their ability to obtain U.S. work permits.”

But, yeah, like KJP said: It’s all the Republicans’ fault.

Just remember: It’s all intentional. The Democrats’ border malfeasance is all part of their plan to make America more brown — and therefore more blue. Hispanics, they believe, can be brought into a permanent Democrat allegiance through the lure of free stuff. It all starts in Texas, which is ground zero of the border battle, and which, if the Democrats can flip it from red to blue, will likely prevent Republicans from ever winning another presidential election.

We think they’re wrong, and the significant shift of Hispanic voters from Democrat to Republican in recent years indicates that their cynical plan might backfire. We wrote about this rightward shift a year ago, and we’re sticking by it.

After all, Hispanic Americans are driven by the same three things that drive most conservative Americans: God, family, and work. As long as this remains the case, it’s hard to see Hispanics finding a home in the party of Joe Biden, the party that believes men can get pregnant and have abortions.
