The Patriot Post® · Cease-Fire Nonsense

It is absolutely clear now that the Biden White House and virtually every European government wants Israel to back off and back down in its war against Hamas.

Insiders are saying that Israel is under intense pressure to announce a cease-fire.  In some cases, the White House and European governments are motivated by fear of what they’re seeing in the streets of our major cities.

The pro-Hamas mass demonstrations in New York, London, Paris and Berlin have shocked political observers across the spectrum.  They’re worried about the potential political fallout.  They think if they can just get Israel to end this, the demonstrations will go away and everything will return to normal.

I know this is the view at the State Department.  Sadly, I suspect it is the view at the increasingly woke Pentagon.

I believe the exact opposite is true, and the fact that our so-called “experts” don’t understand this is evidence that they don’t understand the religious element that is motivating Hamas and its sympathizers here and throughout Europe.

If Israel does not crush Hamas, the Islamic world will take that as evidence that “Allah is great,” and that the day when Allah will rule the world is drawing even closer.

You will see even larger demonstrations throughout the West of radicals dancing on the grave of Israel.  They will claim that Israel lost.  They will claim that “Hamas defeated the Zionist entity and all its might,” and you will see even more Hamas rockets fired in defiance at Israel.

Golda Meir once said, “If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.”  She was right then and she is right today.

Pressuring Israel to accept a cease-fire is the last thing we should be doing.  The best way to end the “cycle of violence” is to end Hamas.

Civilization vs. Barbarism

The pressure coming from Washington must be intense because Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to the pages of the Wall Street Journal Monday to publicly make his case against a cease-fire with Hamas.  Here are some excerpts of his column:

“The horrors that Hamas perpetrated on Oct. 7 remind us that we won’t realize the promise of a better future unless we, the civilized world, are willing to fight the barbarians… Since Oct. 7, Israel has been at war.  Israel didn’t start this war.  Israel didn’t want this war.  But Israel will win this war…

"I want to make clear Israel’s position regarding a cease-fire.  Just as the U.S. wouldn’t have agreed to a cease-fire after the bombing of Pearl Harbor or after the terrorist attack on 9/11, Israel will not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas after the horrific attacks of Oct. 7.

"Calls for a cease-fire are calls for Israel to surrender to Hamas, to surrender to terrorism, to surrender to barbarism.  That will not happen.

"The Book of Ecclesiastes says that there is a time for peace and a time for war. This is a time for war… Today we draw a line between civilization and barbarism. It is a time for everyone to decide where they stand.  Israel will stand against the forces of barbarism until victory.

"I hope and pray that civilized nations everywhere will back this fight.  Because Israel’s fight is your fight.  If Hamas and Iran’s axis of evil win, you will be their next target.  That’s why Israel’s victory will be your victory.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu also presented his remarks as an address to foreign media. Watch it below.
